The graphics aren't ultra crisp, but that doesn't take away from the core game-play. Very challenging, but can be simple if you want. The choice is yours. I enjoy the storyline, the side shows are pretty funny. I like the way that the sidekick you choose can make the difference between finishing the level and not, choose wisely. I like the challenge of finding the biggest words. Overall, I think this game is well done. I will(and have) continue to play this fun and educational game.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 14:03:22 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4049&iddiary=7585Spelunky (PC) - Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:58:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4048Spelunky is too addictive! I am constantly challenged by the ever changing caves. No patterns to learn! Just, challenging gameplay. I don't mind the blocky graphics, I grew up in a time when they were the norm. I agree that the new movie-like graphics are great, but this game harkens to a simpler time. This is a nice departure from today's "perfect" graphics. Even though I have been unable to get past the third level, I still can't stop playing this game. Simple challenges are, sometimes, the best. Find the treasure, the girl, and the exit. What could be easier than that, right? Overall, I enjoy this game and will play it often.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:58:41 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4048&iddiary=7584Aquaria (PC) - Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:53:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4046Got a little farther this time, though, not much. I have trouble with the transition between characters and this takes away from the fun of the game for me. I get stuck as the wrong character and can't change back. The overall beauty of the game is it's redeeming quality. The world you explore is visually stimulating, to say the least. There is always a place to find something new or a room you have to figure out how to get to. The game is well thought out, most puzzles seem to be pretty logical. At first, it was tough, but as you play you look for more clues. My experience with this game has been a good one. I can find most of the answers I need to move forward with only a slight challenge. I have enjoyed playing this game and will continue to explore Najia's world. I hope others will too.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:53:22 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4046&iddiary=7583The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:46:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4045I like The legend of Zelda. I think it was a wonderful game for it's time. The graphic, though not cutting edge, were great for their day. The story is engrossing, an adventure to save the princess is always a good way to go. Gameplay is simple to learn, it is easy to choose the tools you need. The map is huge, it is fairly easy to get lost, but easy to get unlost. The goals are straight forward, beat the bosses to reach new level and ,ultimately, find the princess. Some of the bosses are quite challenging and take several tries to beat. I like the way the programmers mixed it up, though. You can power through a few levels, picking up new hearts and tools along the way. Which, hopefully, help you to get through the boss level you are stuck on. Overall, I still believe that this is one of the best games I have played. I have always enjoyed Zelda games, they are challenging and fun.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:46:47 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4045&iddiary=7582Bookworm Adventures- The Monkey King (PC) - Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:37:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4049The object of this game is to spell words to beat your enemies. You are the Bookworm. You have a Cheshire Cat and Mother Goose as side kicks. You have several potions and power ups that you can use on each level(three per level). The ultimate goal is to defeat the Monkey King. Play is pretty straight forward. You choose your sidekick(and their special power) and some potions(with their powers), and you begin your first adventure. You have a task bar at the top to measure your progress on the level. You spell words to inflict damage to your enemies. When you have defeated all of the enemies on a level you get a new power up(bonus for adverbs, etc.). This game is challenging, in that you have to make the biggest possible word with the letters given. The longer the word, the more damage and better power ups you get. I can play this game for hours. It's like a boggle game with characters! The story is fun for my 5 year old to follow. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this game. It is mentally stimulating, and entertaining to play. I like the way they have made spelling into a fun game. I also like the way my boy reacts to it.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:37:36 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4049&iddiary=7581Spelunky (PC) - Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:26:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4048The game, Spelunky, is about a cave explorer who is trying to find treasure and rescue a girl. The levels are randomly generated, so you never get the same cave to explore. You search through the cave for gold and treasures. Along the way you may find a treasure(golden head)or a girl to save, then you head for the exit. I found the controls to be easy to understand. I found the cave to difficult to explore, though. This game kicked my butt! I could never make it more than 2-3 levels. That being said, I was addicted to the challenge of navigating the cave. You are given a rope and bombs as tools. I blew myself up several times, mastering how to throw the bombs. The enemies were not to challenging, though, I got killed by several of them. Learning how to control my fall lead to landing on several of the enemies, or falling too far, both of which got me dead, a lot! I never made it past the third level! All in all, I enjoyed this game. It keeps you on your toes, and is very addicting. Spelunky has that, edge of your seat, type feeling to it. I would play this game again.Tue, 24 Nov 2009 13:26:37 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4048&iddiary=7580Aquaria (PC) - Thu, 19 Nov 2009 14:23:07https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4046Aquaria is about a "girl" named Najia. She lives in an underwater world, which you are to explore. You find "verse" which gives you powers, like lifting boulders and a shield. You explore her world and find new verse and food. I enjoy the mode of movement(the mouse) as point and click is pretty easy to understand. You hold the left mouse key to swim and the right mouse key to sing. The world is beautifully done, and during explorations it is easy to get lost in the world itself. I was enjoying playing this game, but soon got frustrated. I kept running into puzzles I couldn't get past. Or, getting into areas I couldn't escape from. Solving some of the puzzles was just a matter of exploring and paying attention, but others left little room for error. The game does supply several places to save and this was crucial. Overall, I enjoyed the game, I will have to explore Najia's world more when I have more timeThu, 19 Nov 2009 14:23:07 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4046&iddiary=7577The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Thu, 19 Nov 2009 10:33:39https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4045The Legend of Zelda is a classic game. The main character, Link, is trying to save the princess, Zelda. To do so, you must explore the map and defeat the level bosses. Very large map, for the time this game came out. I have always enjoyed this game, so revisiting it has been a lot of fun. I always scream through the first few levels, then I have to struggle a little to get past the harder levels. The characters are all familiar to us now. Link is the hero, Zelda is the princess Link is trying to save. The level bosses are challenging and keep you on your toes. I love to play this game with my wife, it is always good to have a seperate pair of eyes to see the things I missed. Playing this game is always a lot of fun. I have, literally, spent days playing this game in the past. So, in conclusion, this game is great!Thu, 19 Nov 2009 10:33:39 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4045&iddiary=7576
