From the parking lot (where I had to save the game) I went to the cafeteria. Dylan wanted to cause more panic so he told Eric (me) to turn the fire alarms on. After I did the students started running around in panic more and it became harder for me to catch them and shoot them. After killing everyone in the café I went down the hallway were three janitors where guarding. It was around this time that there was a flash back of President Bill Clinton making an announcement that there was a mass shooting going on in the school and it was still happening and that he prays for everyone that they make it out safe. This kind of gave me a chill because it reminded me that this game was based on an event that actually happened. I also thought of how terrified the families of the students going there must have been when they heard this message. After killing everyone in the hall I went into the girls’ bathroom where the guys mocked a group of girls until killing them all. Then after killing the boys in the bathroom and anyone left in the hall we went into the library. Dylan wants to kill all the jocks and people with white hats. At the computer table Eric has a flash back that was very sad to me. He is trying to call a girl named Brenda and he leaves her a message when she doesn’t pick up. He says how much he loves her and how he lied about his age but he was sorry and all he wants it her to forgive and be with him. This showed the players that these boys had feelings too and were not just crazy people. They had their heart broken and had nothing to live for. After this there is a poem I believe about how much he loves a girl and I think that this shows us how sensitive the shooters were. After this they continued to shoot people until they got by the window and saw the cops and shot at them. Then the game ask if “it is time to end it” or “shoot more shitheads.” I chose end it and so the boys killed themselves after having a few last words. The pictures seemed very graphic of the boys, though the bad graphic of the game made it hard to see, and the slide show of the students, friends, and families were very sad. I think this brought out an emotional feel for the players of the game. After the slideshow it goes to Dylan being in Hell, I believe. After killing a few people I died when confronted by an imp. My overall impression of the game was that it was morally wrong to create a game like this, of a tragic event that happened, especially to add the graphic pictures of the boys’ bodies after shooting themselves in the heads. But on the other hand I kind of feel the game gave more emotion and explanations for the boys’ actions and gave up a deeper look on the boys, especially Eric.Thu, 28 Oct 2010 11:33:28 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4430&iddiary=8359Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Tue, 26 Oct 2010 16:13:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4430Game log #2 My second time playing the game I started out in the parking lot after I planted the bombs. After going back to the car to get the duffel bags I went into the park or “rebels hill” to meet with Dylan (I believe that ids his name). There was moment shared between the two boys about how the day was going to go. They talked about the end and how everyone deserved to die. They also mentioned that it was kind of depressing. I defiantly think there was a reason the creator of the game put this in here. Almost to show that the boys were still only human and had feelings that maybe no one can understand and that they were not pure evil but they were hurt in some way. After gearing up with guns we headed to the parking lot and waited for all the bombs to go off. When none did the boys became upset and just started killing the people in the parking lot. After letting one boy escape home (I really didn’t understand that part); perhaps the boy was the only one who treated them nicely. After I killed everyone in the parking lot we went back inside and stared to kill everyone in the class rooms and hall ways. Now I need to comment on how the kids were described. They were not given names but categories, and represented the categories in the way they dressed and acted to the attacks. For example, the church girl got on her knees and prayed unlike the jock boy whom attacked back. This made me wonder if during the actual shooting and students just stopped where they were and began to pray. This I believe is unethical to put in the game because it is almost like mocking what religious people would do during an attack and how they almost died in one attack. In generally the game is immoral because it is a form of entertainment for people of an actual event that happened and hurt many people and an event where actual people lost their lives.Tue, 26 Oct 2010 16:13:42 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4430&iddiary=8283Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Mon, 25 Oct 2010 13:38:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4430GameLog #1 I was told by everyone in the gaming pc lab that this was a horrible game, so right from the start I didn’t expect much from it. However it seems worst than what they said, it starts in the house of one of the guys. The game reminded me of the Pokémon games, only worst. It starts with me calling my friend to meet up at my house to get ready for the “big day” and then going to my basement to pack the bombs in duffel bags and waiting for my friend. Then we 0drive off to the school where I have to walk to the cafeteria unnoticed. I’m not sure if was just because I was new to the game, but it took me almost 20minutes alone to get to the café. After planting the bombs under the tables by the vending machines, I had to make my way back out of the school without being notice. This took my more than 20minutes, seeing that if I got busted I had to get back to the café to plant the bombs again. After I finally got out into the parking lot I was ready to meet my friend in the park to get the guns and prepare. This is where I ended the game. First off, this is a terrible quality game, but on top of it the game is based off of something terrible. The columbine shooting was a tragedy that stuck the nation. To make a video game about it I believe irt immoral because many people died because of the actual event. Also, I believe the family members of those who were killed in the shooting would be outraged by a game on it. If I had lost a loved one in the columbine shooting and learned there was a game where someone can pretend to be the shooter I would be furious. I believe that the game itself is immoral because it is almost like making fun of a tragedy where many people lost their lives.Mon, 25 Oct 2010 13:38:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4430&iddiary=8252Columbine RPG (PC) - Mon, 25 Oct 2010 13:36:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4429GameLog #1 I was told by everyone in the gaming pc lab that this was a horrible game, so right from the start I didn’t expect much from it. I was also able to get some tattoos for my character. The tattoos consist of a gun and knife on Carl’s back and chest. I assume the reason for these tattoos in the real world would be to show strength and toughness. However it also brings out violence that many people see every day and the tattoos in a way might also be used as a defense to keep harm away but people thinking that someone with tattoos of guns might be too tough to mess with. After getting a few tattoos I was able to explore a bar in town. Inside the bar I was able to beat up some random people; which you can really do anywhere. After that I headed back to Grove Street to do another mission. The next mission was a drive by in Baller’s territory. During the drive by we were able to kill about 14 guys in total. After killing all these guys we had to go change the color of the car so the cops would not find us. This scared me a little when I think about the kids that play this game because it gives kids the mentality of what to do if they do a drive by. It’s not like every day that kids do drive bys that kill over a dozen people but it is the simple fact that they are being exposed to this violence so young. After this I continued to explore the town which included crashing cars, hitting pedestrians, ignoring traffic signs, and of course stealing cars. Furthermore I believe that this game is ethically wrong because it exposes the young generations to violence and they get rewards in the game for the violent acts they comment. On a different but similar note, I am glad that it is now a law that minors cannot buy M rated (for children 17 and over) games and anyone trying to buy an M rated game must have their id checked. This helps keep the violence out of minor’s hands unless they have parental supervision when buying the game. As a cashier at GameStop I have seen a lot of sales fall thru because the child's parents are not aware that the game their child wants is rated M for children 17 and over. When I tell them that it is they almost always say no to the game. This also helps parents limit their Childs exposure to violence. In the case of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas I believe it is morally wrong for us to make video games with such violence for children.Mon, 04 Oct 2010 16:21:37 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4371&iddiary=8168Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - Fri, 01 Oct 2010 14:21:59https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4371(Day 2) I started playing Grand Theft Auto for the second time late last night. Beginning where I last left off, I started with a reunion of the group (including Big Smoke and Sweet). They were all smoking when the decided to go meet up with someone named “B-Dup”. When they arrived there was a lot of cursing and it appeared that “B-dup” did not want to talk to Carl. Also during the confrontation another character is introduced, Big Bear. Big Bear acts like a slave to B-Dup because B-Dup gives him smoke and Big Bear seems do addicted to smoking that he is willing to be B-Dup’s slave. This stuck out to me in the game because it makes me think about the people in the real world who are so addicted to smoking or drugs that the lower themselves to be slaves for some. Also it brought out the question is it morally right for B-Dup to use Big Bear as a slave by using his addiction as a weakness against him. After this the group decides to go beat up a drug dealer. Having a gun I shot a drug dealer in a front lawn then I was told to go to his house. At his house there were four other people that I shot and driving away from the house I got shot at. After dropping off Sweet at his house I went around the neighborhood to do more tagging again. I was able to do 15 more tagging, which once again is wrong because it is vandalism and destroying someone else’s property. Then I meet back up with the guys and was told to get something to eat, as we were at the fast food place the Ballers came and did a drive by. We then followed them in the car and shot at them while they shot back. And as they got out of the car I was able to run them over with the car. Once again murder was in the game almost as your only option or you get killed. After the shot out me and Big smoke went to Emmet’s house to get more guns. After this I saved the game and was finished playing. As I said before I played late last night and I noticed when I woke up that my dreams seemed more violent. I had a dream that I was in a shoot out myself and seem people get shot and died. It makes me wonder if kids who play this game become more violent over time, just how my dreams had got more violent. Fri, 01 Oct 2010 14:21:59 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4371&iddiary=8143Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PC) - Tue, 28 Sep 2010 23:28:10https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4363(Day 1) I just started playing Grand Theft Auto San Andreas today and I must say I was not impressed. It is an okay game so far, though it is very similar to The Warriors for the original xbox. The game begins with Carl, the main character, being taken by cops, with races attitudes, to a part of the neighborhood called "Ballers Country", a rival gang I assume. He then can walk or steal a bike to get to Grove Street, his home. Stealing the bike is an obvious choice to the player, after all it is right in front of you, even though stealing is morally wrong because it is taking something that belongs to someone else, not you. He is then greeted, not friendly at first, by "Big Smoke" and taken to the cemetery to his mom’s grave and to meet with his brother (he finds out in the beginning his mom died). There is then a drive by by the Ballers. He must then steal a bike to run with his brother, Sweet, Big smoke and another friend. After you safely arrive home you can save the game and continue to play. Then you go to Ryder's house, where he is relaxing and smoking, and from there you go to get a haircut and get pizza for energy. At the pizza place, Ryder attempts to rob them, however, the employees know it is him and remain calm. The pizza man then pulls a gun out on you and Ryder and you must leave the pizza place and head back to Ryder’s car, where u can then run over the pizza man. Throughout the game you can choose to run over people with your car which is morally wrong because not only are you harming an innocent person but you may also be killing them. You then head back home and meet up with Sweet. From there u go with sweet to tag over Ballers taggings. This is another example of being immoral because you are destroying someone else’s property. Then you are left alone to go around the neighborhood to tag alone. When two Ballers are standing in front of a tag you have the option of going to another tag or shoot them. Once again murder is brought into the game and morals go out the window. After killing the two Ballers and tagging the wall you must run from the cops and continue to tag and steal cars to get even more tags. It is a back and forth moral to moral being broken in this video game, from murder to vandalism, to theft. After doing 18 more tags I headed back home where I then saved the game.Tue, 28 Sep 2010 23:28:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4363&iddiary=8134
