I came across a lot of moral issues in this game, sexism, racism, and stereotypes. I found the language and behaviors in this game very offensive. I think it teaches people bad morals. I will never play this game again and when I am a parent I know I will be very strict when it comes to my children playing these types of games.Wed, 03 Nov 2010 21:12:02 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4499&iddiary=8466Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2) - Tue, 02 Nov 2010 13:48:52https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4499The second time I played the game I tried to play the game it was intended to be played. By doing so I was required to steal, kill, and do awful things which helped me to earn the respect of the other gang members. The first thing I did was steal a car which meant I had to kill the person in the vehicle first. I then proceeded to drive around breaking laws by running lights and smashing into other cars causing many accidents and deaths. Something I noticed while playing the game was racial issues and stereotypes. The gang members are mostly African American or Hispanic. The game also is very sexist. There are women prostitutes everywhere that you can beat up and kill. This really upset me and I feel gives players the idea that women are not to be respected and are just around for men’s use. I wanted to take a look at Utilitarianism and how it applies to this game. “Act-based” utilitarianism evaluates the ethics of an action by determining its consequences while keeping human happiness or well being in mind. This game does not demonstrate this at all. The game does not make you think about the consequences of your actions at all. And it definitely does not make you think about others happiness. You go around using, hurting and killing people with no remorse and no thought about their happiness.Tue, 02 Nov 2010 13:48:52 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4499&iddiary=8426Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2) - Mon, 01 Nov 2010 21:55:03https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4499This is the first time I have played Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. I was first introduced to my character in Los Santos. I play as the character CJ who just moved back from the east coast and is part of a gang called the Grove Street Gang. When I first started playing I chose not to do a mission right away because I just wanted to walk around and get a feel for things. I know it’s just a video game however the thought of going around murdering people did not sound like an enjoyable thing and I don't understand why people play it for entertainment. I feel that violent video games that encourage killing are ethically wrong and give players especially children a fictional view on stealing and killing. I think some people who play can confuse the game and real life. In the game you are not punished for doing wrong and some may take this mentality into their real life. The point of the game is to do morally wrong things and the character is encouraged to make mostly bad decisions. The game lacks consequences for your actions which is not how real life is. After playing the game for a little while I murdered a few people and was not punished for them at all. I felt like this was so wrong. I really did not enjoy my first time playing this game however it is required for my class. The next time I play I am going to play the game the way it was meant to be played and see what happens.Mon, 01 Nov 2010 21:55:03 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=4499&iddiary=8411
