Txh0881's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=152Soul Calibur III (PS2) - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 19:04:30https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1354I am not a big fighting game fan, so it may seem like a strange thing for me to pick a fighting game to write a gamelog on. The main reason I picked it was that I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and see how the genre has changed over the time I was avoiding it. Overall, the game is pretty good. The character designs are nice and the battles are not too easy or too hard... except for the final boss, but that's to be expected. Regardless, I beat him... after 8 or so trys. The controls are a bit annoying because the X button is used for blocking. Normally, in many games that I have played that have fighting game style controls, X is used for the standard attack and Square is used to block. I got used to it, but I still ended up losind a couple of times because of my old reflexes.Thu, 22 Feb 2007 19:04:30 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1354&iddiary=2882Xenosaga Episode II (PS2) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 12:48:59https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1146I just fought a very interesting boss. While I was on Old Miltia, making my way to Labyerinthos (or however you spell that name), my mechs came across a battleship that seemed to have crashed. As I walked across its deck, the crew spotted me and we got into a fight. This battle consisted of a large deck-mounted gun and four annoying enemies that acted as support. What was unusual about this fight was that the boss had a forcefield that blocked attacks EXCEPT for on a few specific turns. Even worst, it could revive the annoying enemies if I happened to kill them. by using stock and boost creatively, I was able to deal major damage to the boss on one of his vulnerable turns with my special arracks, temporarily disabling his shields and enemy reviving skills. After a lengthy battle, I won and moved on to my next challenge.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 12:48:59 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1146&iddiary=2629Xenosaga Episode II (PS2) - Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:43:19https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1146Despite all the cinematics, I like this game. The characters are interesting (although I question their fashion sense) and the plot is interesting. I really enjoyed watching the scene where Shion steal the transporter that was built for KOS-MOS and gets ambushed, only to be saved by KOS-MOS herself. The ship's transformation sequence was really cool, but I wish that the mech it turned into was as powerful in real battles as it was in the cutscene. Also, I wish that I could revisit Second Miltis after leaving. I have several unfinished sidequests there and I want to finish them! (This entry has been edited1 time. Anyways, I got this game recently in the mail when my mom sent me a care package. I decided to try it. I got to say, I'm impressed. The cinematics are beautiful and the battle system is refreshingly unique. Unlike most RPGs, Xenosaga II does not have random encounters. Instead, the enemies walk around on the screen like the player and, when they bump into you, you begin a battle. While you are fighting, you can either attack, use ether skills (magic), or stock. when you use stock, you don't take any action that turn but next turn, you can use extra attacks. You can save up to 3 extra stock which you can use in one turn. Why waste it in one turn? Because each extra attack is more powerful than the last. My favorite character so far is MOMO because her battle voice sounds... interesting. It has the sound quality of the technology people in the 1960s thought the 1980s would have. I don't know what it's called. I just like it.Wed, 07 Feb 2007 01:52:42 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1146&iddiary=2466Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Thu, 01 Feb 2007 21:35:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877Okay. I'm officially fed up with this game. Even though there are a lot of things to do, something about it rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the violence. Maybe it is the fact that the game rewards felonies. Maybe it's all the rude characters. Whatever it is, I don't like it.Thu, 01 Feb 2007 21:35:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877&iddiary=2413Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:26:53https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877I checked out this game for a second time so that I could finish it (like I do with every game I ever try) and I was (for the most part) happy at what I saw... at first. I'm not happy about the violence, per se, but I did find a few good points. After playing for a bit, I finisher all the missions in Psudo-Los Angeles and I was taken by surprise by the plot twist. I was betrayed by my favorite character (I already forgot his name. I'm hopeless, I know) and was dumped in the middle of nowhere! After a few hours of playing (part of which was spent filling out the new portion of the map) and playing a few more missions, I got to one where I had to steal a large piece of farm equipment for a hippy with issues. While I was driving it out, I accidentally ran over someone and, to my surprise, the machine spat out a mass of severed limbe from the back (where bundles of weath would normally come out). I did not have to see that! Even with the unexpected plot twist (which scores a lot of points with me because I am good at predicting plots), the sheer level of violence in this game is disappointing.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:26:53 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877&iddiary=2356Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Tue, 23 Jan 2007 17:58:56https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877As I was wandering around the city, I noticed a couple of famous L.A. locales. They included the Griffith Observatory, Pershing Square, the Santa Monica Boardwald (although it only had the Ferris Wheel), LAX and Union Station. Many of the area names are parodies of sections of L.A. too. ...I still think this game is too violent and maakes the cops look evil.Tue, 23 Jan 2007 17:58:56 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877&iddiary=1964Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Mon, 22 Jan 2007 19:21:27https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877I heard a lot about this game, so I decided to try it. I must say, I have mixed opinions. The game itself is well designed with a lot of funny points and a lot of ground to explore, but I do not like the theme and i think that the characters are bad role models. The main character is a man in trouble with the law (which consists of crooked cops) and he has the ability to attack innocent people, stealing their cars and even killing them. On a positive note, the talk radio station is funny.Mon, 22 Jan 2007 19:21:27 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=877&iddiary=1943Katamari Damacy (PS2) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 20:48:19https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=696Wow! Time flies. I was planning on only playing for an hour, but I lost track of time and played for five hours! In that time, I finished every level! Although this game is not long, it is really fun. I especially enjoyed making my Katamari large enough to roll up the entire island I started the level on. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a change of pace from the ordinary. With that being said, I really enjoyed myself. This strange, crazy game is about you, the son of the King of the Cosmos, are charged with fixing your father's mistake. By rolling around a giant sticky ball, you gather materials to create new stars and replace the ones that were destroyed in a freak accident. although all this may sound like nonsense to anyone who has not played the game, it is pretty addicting and you will find yourself playind for hours on end.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 00:44:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=696&iddiary=1578
