Hatoshi's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=195Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 11:55:09https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1409So after a while of not playing Super Smash Bros, I was questionable about my so called skills in them. Before, I would beat almost everyone that came at me with my trusty Pikachu to do all the work. However, since a lot of people are good in this game, I really don't know if I'm good at all. So I started playing with a group of people in a vs match with eight stock lives. I didn't choose Pikachu because I wanted to get used to the game first. I chose Samus which is one of my better characters and I won, but barely. Something that I noticed was that it's true that it does take skill to be good at this game, but it's really just a whole bunch of nonsense going on at a time. A beginner could pick it up and press random buttons and win just like any other fighting game, but there are skills that need to be learned such as recovering from a fall, blocking and rolling. I don't really like to roll as much because it never occurred to me that I had to, but I see other people doing it and it seems to help. Nevertheless, I still can hold my own. Many people don't like to use items, but that is my strong point. I am an Item User and proud of it. People see it as cheating, but I see it as more strategy. For instance, a beam sword is usually swung around to do damage, but if the player throws it at someone, it can do a lot of damage which is the same with the fire flower. Anyways, more on that later.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 11:55:09 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1409&iddiary=2976Tekken 5 (PS2) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 19:06:58https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1148So I played the Devil Within mode that features Jin's story after the main story. It made me a little dizzy as the screen didn't rotate a little faster than Jin rotated. The game was different from the main game as it was a platformer where you had to fight enemies that would spawn and at the end of a couple of levels, a boss would appear. Jin's basic moves from the fighting game were brought to this and pressing different buttons would activate the same combos or about the same combos. The basic goal of the game is to find why things are going on with Jin and if this game is defeated, then the character Devil Jin would be unlocked and a lot of money will be available in the customization mode. Of course, I unlocked Devil Jin in a different way where I had to play 200 battles.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 19:06:58 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1148&iddiary=2712Tekken 5 (PS2) - Wed, 07 Feb 2007 13:39:35https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1148I haven't really picked up this game for some time though I really should because I really really liked this game with the graphics and the move-set. I really like the character Xiaoyu due to her randomness and quick movements. I like it also because the player kind of needs strategy to beat the opposing character. I played against a friend who used Bryan and at first I thought he was really skilled (which he is), but I found his pattern of attacking and eventually beat him. Also, I trained with a few characters such as Nina and Anna to improve my skills in them because they are actually very good even though they seemed a bit too simple at first. In Devil Within Mode, it got me a little dizzy, but it turned out to be okay overall. More on that later.Wed, 07 Feb 2007 13:39:35 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1148&iddiary=2470Soul Calibur III (PS2) - Tue, 30 Jan 2007 18:44:04https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=926So this time I got a few people to play against me and it turns out I was better than I thought I was, though I wasn't the best obviously. As my title line says, this game can be won by a really good button masher. Many people who have never played before beat others who have played just by button mashing really fast. Even the slow characters seem unstoppable as someone button mashes and wins. However, choosing the right character is a huge decision in this game due to the fact that each character has a different weapon, strength, agility and most of all range. Usually, a character would give up strength for agility and range for agility as well. However there are some characters who have range and are fast which makes them somewhat cheap such as Raphael and again my favorite Kilik. I don't see any downside to these two characters so they are "noob" friendly. I also showed my friends the Chronicles of the Sword mode where it was like a strategy/fighting game where you would destroy buildings and then attack the people inside. The concept is really good though I could say that it got kind of tedious in the end. Especially since some of the voice acting was below average and the random game characters seemed well, random. I was hooked to Soul Calibur II and wanted number three to see how it would live up to number two. I have to say that the graphics are improved and the moves appear more flashy than before which is a good thing in my opinion. However, some of my favorite characters had their moves changed for the good and for the better. Kilik which is a "noob" favorite is my favorite and it seems like they made him a bit harder to use which is a good thing. Ivy with the extending sword is a bit more flashy this time, but again it is harder to activate the stretch. Another thing I noticed was the fact that the computer blocked way too much. It was mostly a "who can block the most" game in Tales of Souls mode which was basically the story mode for each character. This was ridiculous because the last few characters you had to beat would block almost 70% of the time. After playing this game a lot it taught me to block about 70% of the time as well which is a good thing I guess. This made me annoying when I was playing my friends as I would beat every one of them with my block strategy. More later...Sun, 28 Jan 2007 18:24:46 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=926&iddiary=2040Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Tue, 23 Jan 2007 00:02:55https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=410So I thought I posted this some time ago, but I guess I should really double-check next time. Anyways, what I did before that previous post was go after more hunts. I went after one called Diabolos which I did because the monster looked easy. But looks can be deceiving as we all know. This little thing that flies around killed me due to the status effects that it put on me. The main ones that killed me were confuse and disease(max hp depletes and cannot heal). Also this Diabolos put a paling up which made only magical attacks work. Naturally, I like the whole class thing in FF so I tried to make each of my six character's have a "job". My only black magician was Fran and this proved terrible because she would always die before she could attack and in the end I ended up dying. I'll try that mark later again. I also went after a mark called Carrot which is a trademark huge malboro. This was extremely easy because I would just stand at a distance and attack while my tank took all the status effects and kept it busy. I seriously don't know who came up with the design for a malboro, but it doesn't look like anything I would ever come up with. Anyways, I got a figurine in the Sky Pirate's Den for defeating Carrot and everything ended up fine.Tue, 23 Jan 2007 00:02:55 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=410&iddiary=1949Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 01:47:27https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=410So I kept playing and got a few more summons. I like the way how each summon represents a sign of the zodiac. Like the balance throned Exodus to the Floating crab..thing of Zeromus, most of these look exactly like the zodiac symbol. Also, when the summons raise what they call palings (a shield that nullifies physical or magical damage), it takes a lot of effort to try and hurt them because the summon usually does this at the brink of death. Besides this the way to get to most of these optional summons are so vague that I needed a guide to show me the way. Examples are activating springs in a certain order, helping a random wounded person, turning on/off water valves and talking to a completely random person out of the thousands there are. These things are what makes FFXII very lengthy. Also, I found out that there is going to be a "sequel" to FFXII on the Nintendo DS. This excited me at first, but since I don't have a DS, it quickly made me sad. Oh well. After watching the ending which was nice...I guess. I really want to see what happens after though the tiny graphics of the DS might ruin the feel. Again...oh well. More later hopefully, FFXII calls again. I found a lot more quests and monsters which I decided to attempt with my level 42 Cleric. An added bonus was that they added a quest where you could get a random hair cut that would usually require real money. However, many of these hair cuts were extremely ugly, but I was blessed with the best haircut they had to offer(to me). Anyways, I went on my many accounts and got the free hair style and for the most part I was really happy. I chose not to do this random haircut because I already bought a random hair cut and I got hair that I liked. Additionaly, my clothes were from cash shop (a birthday present from one of my high school friends) and I didn't want to ruin what I looked like it. I also decided to go on what we call a "suicide mission" where we would go to an incredibly high leveled place and try to survive till the end. These are fun because well..it's just fun to see what's coming up next. I decided to go to the gigantic fish boss called Pianus. In order to get to it, I needed to pass level 90 monsters which I passed due to my relatively close level, but once I got inside the battlefield, my HP and MP dropped to one and I tried fighting it, but eventually died in close to ten seconds. Right now I'm power leveling to level 80 in order to do another "suicide mission" which requires a level 80 limit. I hope it goes well.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 15:20:33 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=407&iddiary=1421Maple Story (PC) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 15:08:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=407Sorry for the above post, it wasn't working at first and it was a test post. Then I found out I couldn't delete it....anyways.. As a White Knight at lvl 75 I've come to experience a lot of different things in the land of Maple Story. From being on Maple Island (The Beginner land) to the main island all the way to the toy land of Ludibrium. I tried this game at first because my friends told me it was really addictive. Knowing that online games such as Gunbound, where I couldn't stop playing, were going to waste a lot of time, I decided to pass, but I couldn't help it and I started Maple Story. Immediately, I was hooked. I would play day and night so I could be stronger and get new skills and visit new worlds. However, after a while, I started to notice that all I did was train, train, train, train, do a quest, train, train and train some more. It got extremely repetitive and things became to get a bit boring. Especially since I took the "hell path" where in order to become a White Knight, which was viewed as one of the most respected classes on Maple Story. This is due to the fact that one needs to become a Page first which is terribly weak and can barely get through training for an extra 40 levels. At level 70, when I finally became a White Knight, I quit for some time. However, when I went to college, Maple Story was the only way I could keep in touch with my High School friends so I picked it up again. And now, I find myself addicted once again. *sigh*Fri, 12 Jan 2007 15:08:24 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=407&iddiary=1416Silent Hill 4: The Room (XBX) - Thu, 11 Jan 2007 22:53:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=525So I borrowed this game from a friend because I wanted to get my adrenaline rushed. I don't normally play a scary game let alone a movie. I was terrified when I turned it on, but after a few minutes, it didn't seem scary to me. Maybe it's because I'm still in the beginning or maybe I was just tired. For fun, I set it on hard mode which wasn't the best move because those dead dog things were harassing me until I died. I killed one, but it came back alive before I realized you had to step on it. The voice acting is great from what I heard. Nothing makes sense right now, but I'm sure that will change. I turned it off once I died three times on those dogs (I really should have put it on easy) and I'm thinking about giving the game another go, but not likely. I like my RPGs and this obviously isn't one so maybe I didn't give this a chance. I don't feel like doing a review because it wouldn't be fair from what I've played. I might pick it up when I want to give it another go.Thu, 11 Jan 2007 22:53:42 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=525&iddiary=1245
