For example, lot of the comments would state the interesting take on the concept of death and the idea of playing as a profession that we do not think about in a day to day basis.Thu, 08 Nov 2018 11:13:22 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6866&iddiary=12300A Mortician's Tale (PC) - Wed, 07 Nov 2018 10:51:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6866After playing another session, I did notice a repetition within the game. After going through the embalming/cremating process, the player goes to a funeral reception in which the player can talk to the attendees. The dialogue of the attendees can vary from talking about the deceased individual (both in positive or semi-negative). It is interesting that the game shows the NPC's dialogue as personal stories/ties and how the NPC's mourn.Wed, 07 Nov 2018 10:51:17 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6866&iddiary=12253A Mortician's Tale (PC) - Mon, 05 Nov 2018 12:28:53https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6866It is interesting for an indie game to tackle a morbid topic of the death and the deceased, but A Mortician's Tale takes the player and puts them in the shoes of a occupation that society does not seem to think about from time to time. for the first hour of playing, the player is tasked to either embalm or cremate depending on the NPC's request. The game guides the player how to property embalm or cremate a body in time for a funeral.Mon, 05 Nov 2018 12:28:53 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6866&iddiary=12213Nier Automata (PC) - Tue, 25 Sep 2018 22:40:44https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790Other than the nostalgia rush and the questionable achievement "What are you doing...?", outside of playing the game, I decided to take a listen to the soundtrack on YouTube and again reminded me of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain with the vocals being very present in the game. This makes me question, what made the creators decide to use a foreign style of music in a dystopian JRPG. Other games like God Eater, A Post apocalyptic JRPG, uses techno mixed with rock. I believe that the developers of Nier Automata had the intention of creating immersion and aesthetic when in a certain area of the world. I think the idea of immersion was taken from real word examples. For example, the track Memories of Dust, has more of a enhanced North African/ Middle Eastern feel to it when the player travels through the Desert Zone. I think one can see an ethical issue when games take musical influence from other cultures and can question if the developers are fully understanding and researching a cultures' musical instruments and musicality.Tue, 25 Sep 2018 22:40:44 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790&iddiary=12083Nier Automata (PC) - Fri, 21 Sep 2018 00:22:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790Playing another session of Nier Automata was very exciting, about 35 minutes in I paused the game and decided to take a look at all of the achievements. I was very intrigued by one of them and that being the achievement "What are you Doing...?". Honestly with a majority of the achievements being related to either boss farming, challenges with the combat mechanics, or challenges. "What are you Doing...?" aka. the look up 2B's skirt, is a very interesting achievement that the developers implemented in some way with an unknown purpose. Maybe it's just a cheeky achievement or roots out the pervert in ourselves. Either way, it's one of the most weirdest and questionable achievements I've ever seen. I makes us players question "what just happened"?Fri, 21 Sep 2018 00:22:48 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790&iddiary=12041Nier Automata (PC) - Mon, 17 Sep 2018 22:41:54https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790Replaying this game is refreshing for a player who enjoys hack and slash and role playing games like Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy 15. After sometime comparing the difficulties anyone can conclude that normal or hard is the right difficulty for returning players because easy turns the game into a virtual novel (not literally) and very hard turns the game into Dark Souls. The most memorable factors in the game is the option to pick between three character 2B, 9S, and A2, how each character's relationship affects the story, and the fact that it is a Japanese role-playing game tells us players that there is a lot of hard work put into that game. I am excited for what the game has in store since I haven't pick it up since March.Mon, 17 Sep 2018 22:41:54 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6790&iddiary=12037Hitman (Complete First Season) (PC) - Wed, 29 Aug 2018 15:32:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6735This game lets you play the role of Agent 47 and Hitman allows the player to take on missions to take out specific targets and the player has multiple options to kill targets. Hitman: The First Season has great dialogue and cut-scenes showing development within each character including Agent 47. The game-play is like other games like Uncharted, Assassins Creed, and Sniper Elite where the game is all in third person and have a cover system but the only difference with Assassins Creed and Hitman is that Hitman allows the player to play the mission to their terms while Assassins Creed feels like the mission is very constrained. Throughout the game-play, I was curious asking myself, “what other ways could I complete this mission”? Hitman allows the player to either go in with stealth, combat without casualties, combat with casualties, or make the kill look like an accident. This leads into the ethical and moral of each type of assassinations methods. Some may view the methods of combat with casualties towards civilians as ethically debatable because of the obvious harming innocents. If the player attacks non-targeted NPCs, the game penalizes the player by losing points or making the mission take longer and enemies will know of your presence. The first thirty minutes of the game is kind of refreshing since this is the latest game in the franchise.Wed, 29 Aug 2018 15:32:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6735&iddiary=11942
