Serenaash's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=1979A Mortician's Tale (PC) - Sat, 10 Nov 2018 23:45:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6868I would like to analyze the game form a kantian perspective of how her actions are moral as it is her duty to do so. She was following the wishes of her corporation, which were some immmoral acts. However, she ultimately left and started her own business where she could work with a free conscience about how she was working on those who had passed. I hope this doesn't count as a late entry. I just wanted some feedback on my topic before I started writing my draft. (This entry has been edited1 time. The main girl, Charlie, decided she was done with all of the corporate rules and went on to create her own mortuary. Her mortuary was a green mortuary, where their loved ones would be buried and a tree would grow from right next to it. This was alluded to as it showed her tab, which was to get licensed. It also had a subscription list about green funerals. There was also a family that had wanted it, but the corporate guy said that that wasn't allowed. It was a good ending that showed that the unethical acts of corporations can be solved by just getting out of that environment and just creating your own. Additionally, the corporation kept getting gigs where they would deal with unclaimed bodies and hospital patients. While this is good for profits, it is sad as no one attends the funerals. There was an email about LGBTQ awareness. It is important to recognize life styles of more than one group. Additionally, a corporation had bought the mortuary, but kept the mom and pop name. By doing this, the manager was trying to push for up selling rather than respecting the wishes of the family. Now the corporation took away cooperation in order to profit. These corporations don't are about the individual, they only care about how deep their pockets are. They cut costs and increase prices, adjust rules, etc. A family just wanted a funeral at home, but the corporation wouldn't allow it. This created a problem for a family, where the attendees said that she wouldn't have wanted the funeral they had. It was pretty sad. Her friend had left the company due to his inability to comply with the corporation rules. I wasn't sure where I would find the ethical relationships in the game. As I was playing, I could see how controversial suicide was. There was a child who died from a suicide. There were rules from a mailing list for funeral homes that gave insight to different practices of religion. It also gave insight as to how to handle LGBTQ burials. It was an interesting beginning. I stopped once Charlie read an email about how the owner, Amy, was selling her funeral home to a corporation. She believes that the corporation was only keeping their original name of Rose and daughter's funeral home to keep the mom and pop store vibe.Mon, 05 Nov 2018 17:38:20 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6868&iddiary=12215Four Last Things (PC) - Wed, 26 Sep 2018 16:12:49https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6805I finished the game today. I quickly finished the remainder of the sins. It took a while for me to think about what was going on in order to complete them. I also looked to Google to complete the greed task. I was immoral by googling how to finish the game rather than playing it. However, I did it for the purpose of finishing the game. I had to go to a man who was scamming a family who recently had someone pass. He sent me to some weird government group to get a document. I had to solve a guy's riddle to get the document. When I got the riddle (Via Google) correct, I got a document. When I brought it to the man, he gave me a cut of the portion he stole from the family. This is when I completed all the sins. I then went back to the church where they told me I was immoral and I wouldn't be forgiven. I then had to take a "leap of faith" in which I jumped to my death. It was strange but made sense that by jumping to "get judged" and "have faith" would lead to my death. I was sad I finished the game and wish I took the time to figure out the greed thing, but I am now finished with the game. It was an interesting game in which it forced the player, me, to commit a series of immoral acts. Very immoral as they were all of the 7 deadly sins. Ultimately, the deadly sins did lead me to my death in the game. I killed the king pie man, to get the wrath sin out of the way. I poisoned him after he beat me, I had also poisoned another man, but he never ate the food. I tried to commit lust, but the woman wouldn't bite and her husband kept getting in the way. These are all immoral acts that shouldn't be done in the real world. There really isn't a great framework to analyze his actions. They are all pretty immoral and really don't benefit anyone. Back in the day, many individuals were all focused on gaining wealth by taking advantage of others. This game is a prime example of the horrors some had committed in the Renaissance to go through in order to get on the top. While it isn't factual, there are some similarities between the game and history. I felt bad for committing the crimes, but I would like to finish the game. It makes me uncomfortable, but that is okay; I am not harming anyone in real life. Tue, 25 Sep 2018 14:11:11 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6805&iddiary=12072Four Last Things (PC) - Sun, 23 Sep 2018 20:29:52https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6805I am a little confused as to what this game is. It is staged in the Renaissance era, and there are a lot of references towards that. The funniest part would have to be the beginning where the character you play as goes to the church and tries to repent. However, there is no proof that he did it, so they tell him to go do them again. This is morally wrong. He first committed those crimes in a dream, so why would he want to reenact them in person? Just to repent? The church gave him this idea to fill their pockets as you have to pay them to be forgiven of your sins. The morally compromising act is the church claiming that they will not go to heaven unless they are forgiven for their sins. Taking the money that is required to pay in order to be forgiven also sets societal norms. The game goes on, when the man just sloths around under a tree, a sin is achieved. He committed a morally unjust act of just sitting around, according to the church. When the man goes to a house with a lot of kids, the lawyer guy is claiming that a fraction will have to be paid to him. This clerk man is taking advantage of the fact that the family is illiterate and has no idea how much money they had just inherited. This whole game, thus far, has committed immoral acts when it comes to gaining more money.Sun, 23 Sep 2018 20:29:52 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6805&iddiary=12054Little Nightmares (PC) - Wed, 29 Aug 2018 14:00:25https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6724When I played today, I had to stop at the scene where Six is kidnapped. She climbed into a cage to eat the food, and the janitor guy kidnapped her. It was wild, and scary. This part is very unethical, because this poor girl is being captured and tricked. She seems to be smart enough to know that it was a cage, but she was so overcome with hunger and just wanted to eat the food. As the player, I just saw food and didn't even notice it was a cage until she was eating and I couldn't control her. I just saw the food and was happy, as the girl was really hungry and it was hard to play the game. Similar to how it would be hard to carry on in real life, if I was starving. Additionally, the Janitor is very unethical in kidnapping the girl who is just hungry. When you are starving, crippling in pain, you will eat whatever you can find. This janitor took advantage of that to lure a child into a cage. This game is glorifying kidnapping and making this girl escape (I assume) from her expected death of being kidnapped and tortured. Wed, 29 Aug 2018 14:00:25 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6724&iddiary=11940Little Nightmares (PC) - Mon, 27 Aug 2018 22:37:32https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6724It took me over half an hour to get past one part. It was very frustrating. This leads me to ask myself, is it ethical to make it this difficult to get past some leeches? Also, the controller was way too sensitive, so I kept falling off stairs at odd angles, in which I believe I would have made it. I kept playing after this point and came across some children locked in cages and rooms. It definitely is not ethical to have children locked in cages. As much as I sometimes wanna put annoying children in cages, there is no need to resort to such violence. It was also very quiet and spooky. This makes me infer that these children are not in good living situations. There was also a bloody toy room, which was very startling to see. This ethical decision in showing that much gore is questionable as it may lead others to want to recreate that scene with blood. Additionally, it may also lead others to potentially lock children up when they are annoying. Children should be kept in safe environments is the main ethical topic of my game experience today.Mon, 27 Aug 2018 22:37:32 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6724&iddiary=11906Little Nightmares (PC) - Sat, 25 Aug 2018 20:04:23https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6724I played Little Nightmares for the first time today. It was very suspenseful and scary at times. I don't necessarily know the premise of the game, so it is all new as to what will happen. I was stuck on a few parts, so it requires a little bit of thinking and not just mindlessly playing a game. I really enjoy it thus far. I don't really know what it has to do with Ethics. There was a scene in which there was a man hanging, presumably from suicide. That raises the question of whether or not suicide is ethical. There is also the question of whether or not you should pursue your dreams if it causes harm to others. This is the question that I was asking whilst playing the game. Every time I die in the game, I can't help but feel guilty that this small child died. I very much enjoy the game my first play. Furthermore, I went into the game thinking that it was about a little girl and the nightmares that we have as a child. However, upon playing the game, I do not think that is how this game will play out to be. Is this false advertisement ethical to me as a consumer? We shall see as I continue to play the game.
