bharami's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=2014A Way Out (PS4) - Mon, 12 Nov 2018 23:05:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912For this last/third session I played about an hour. We successfully escaped the prison and made it out of the mountains. Couple of things to note... The prisoner I thought the guards had beat up was actually beaten to death... That's way worse than what I thought had happened. That's really messed up. Another thing, the guards seem really easy to trick. They don't really seem to be watching the prisoners very carefully at all. I'm not really sure if this is what it is actually like in prison (highly doubt it) but I think the guards should be more attentive. I thought it was interesting that there were options to either tie the couple up or release the horses. I don't know if the outcome is the same either way but we chose to release the horses and the old couple came back and called the cops on us. I think it is super wrong to steal from people and they definitely did the right thing by calling the cops but as the one trying to escape it was super annoying. Lastly, I like that Vincent and Leo keep helping each other. There are many points where they could have left the other one behind yet they stick together even though they are practically strangers! Lots to think about for this game. I'm going to try and finish it before writing the OPA and see what else it has to offer.Mon, 12 Nov 2018 23:05:06 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912&iddiary=12348A Way Out (PS4) - Sat, 10 Nov 2018 00:57:44https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912Leo and Vincent have started to break out already. They took the chisel and broke through the wall behind the toilets. The interaction of taking turns looking out for the guards was really cool. As for moral stuff... there isn't too much to talk about. Vincent and Leo started a fight among the prisoners to get a guard to go away but that's about it. Besides the obvious of trying to break out of jail.Sat, 10 Nov 2018 00:57:44 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912&iddiary=12344A Way Out (PS4) - Fri, 09 Nov 2018 00:59:45https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912I totally forgot that this game log was due this week... I hope you will allow it to be turned in late! Played first 30 minutes of the game. One of the inmates shanked a guard... which is a terrible thing to do. But is it okay for the guards to whale on the inmate like that? They had him down already so everything else seems excessive. It creates an interesting juxtaposition of playing with someone you already know and trust. The characters don't know each other or trust each other! Kind of a bizarre way to interact. Guard just took a bribe to let them on the roof. Are guards supposed to do that? I'd say definitely not but what do I know!Fri, 09 Nov 2018 00:59:45 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6912&iddiary=12335Nier: Automata (PS4) - Thu, 27 Sep 2018 22:43:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831Holy moly! I stopped at the wrong place yesterday! As soon as I started up the next part you walk back into the building where all the robot children were hiding and they had all killed themselves from fear. And then Pascal couldn't handle the pain and I had to wipe his memories. I wish there had been an option to tell him that if he lost his memories of them there would be no one left to remember them but games don't have all options. The two options were to wipe his memories or kill him. I imagine I will have to kill him later but I really want to avoid it if I can. I really like Pascal... I would really like to explore the robots feelings and emotions vs the androids feelings and emotions. I find it all super intriguing and I think there's something more to be found there. I can't wait to do my research for my next OPA!Thu, 27 Sep 2018 22:43:15 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831&iddiary=12173Nier: Automata (PS4) - Wed, 26 Sep 2018 23:44:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831In the portion I just played through in Nier, you have to fight Engels as Pascal. Through 9S you can interact with Engels if you want to. I did interact with him and I really liked his character and story. So it was really sad when Pascal jumped in a giant mecha to save his villagers only to end up having to fight with Engels. Beyond being devastated that I have to fight someone I really loved, I think that there are some ideas to be explored as to why it's okay to kill robots to save other robots. What makes Pascal's villagers "lives" worth more than the other robots? Through playing the game I think it's safe to say that the villagers are much more friendly and I would definitely pick them over any other robots. But it is thought provoking to think about the differences in value of different robots.Wed, 26 Sep 2018 23:44:08 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831&iddiary=12123Nier: Automata (PS4) - Wed, 26 Sep 2018 00:53:59https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831Heavy spoilers for later parts of Nier!!! Prior to this class, I had started playing Nier already. I am far enough from understanding/completing the story that I feel comfortable playing this game for my second gamelog. I have completed a couple of the endings and I am currently attempting to play through the story as A2/9S. I really want to find out more about the robots vs androids issue. It seems trivial to me because I feel like androids and robots are almost the same thing. But the androids obviously feel like there is a big difference. Why do they feel like that difference is there and why does it even matter? The next thing I want to know more about is Adam and Eve. They are robots that are androids? Talk about confusing (but very intriguing!). I also want to try and understand what it means that the humans haven't been giving orders at all. It's been androids pretending that the humans were still alive when really humans have been dead for a long time. What does this mean for our heroes? Lastly, I want to understand androids aversion to emotions. They seem to feel them so why are they so apposed? Lots to look into over the next few days! Can't wait. This is one of my favorite games from what I've played so far.Wed, 26 Sep 2018 00:53:59 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6831&iddiary=12098Little Nightmares (PS4) - Thu, 30 Aug 2018 23:33:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755I just finished playing Little Nightmares. Overall I would say that playing it was a great experience but I have to admit I am still extremely confused. Who was the little kid in yellow? Who were the monsters? Who was the lady? What are the little stone gnome things? As soon as I am done writing this GameLog post I am going to go in search of what everything really meant. In terms of ethics, I still have to do more research. I feel like I'm just not quite grasping something. I could something like "should we allow ourselves to become the monsters that feed on us". Or maybe "what should we be allowed to step on the people that helped us to save ourselves"? Again, gotta go use my googlefoo to figure out what this game was really trying to say for next weeks paper.Thu, 30 Aug 2018 23:33:08 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755&iddiary=12002Little Nightmares (PS4) - Wed, 29 Aug 2018 23:58:03https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755Today I played just over 30 minutes of Little Nightmares. The puzzles were started to get to the point where they were extremely frustrating but fortunately I made it to the next area where things got interesting again. Things are still swaying like a boat so I am going to stick with that theory. I finally got to really see the long armed monster thing that haunts the "boat". I only got to really look at it once or twice and every time I saw it I was too scared to stick around and stare at it. I am not really sure what it is. It could be some kind of guard or maybe some kind of "matron" that's supposed to be watching over the children there. Or at least I am assuming all the small people are children. I'm curious who our character is and why she/he is the only one that is in color. Everyone else is super drab. The character has stopped twice now, bending over in what looks to be hunger pains. I'm curious if it really is hunger or something else that is being represented. Looking forward to the final play session where I don't have to limit myself on how much time I can play and just finish the game!Wed, 29 Aug 2018 23:58:03 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755&iddiary=11965Little Nightmares (PS4) - Wed, 29 Aug 2018 00:49:51https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755I played just over 30 minutes of Little Nightmares and I am already super intrigued. Who are the little tiny cute guys that run around? What is their purpose? I am really loving the puzzles in this game as well. My initial thoughts are that this game seems to be taking place on a boat. If it does take place on a boat, it would make sense for this game to be about human trafficking but I might be jumping the gun on that. I’m not really sure where it’s going. Who does the eye represent and what is that long armed monster? Why am I smashing those statues? Is smashing them a good thing or a bad thing? Lots of questions about what’s happening and I am very much looking forward to figuring out the answers to these questions in future play throughs!Wed, 29 Aug 2018 00:49:51 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6755&iddiary=11934
