Fresh Mex's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=2026Hitman (Complete First Season) (PC) - Thu, 08 Nov 2018 21:01:32https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6877The mission I played today involved killing two extremely sketchy fashion icons in Paris. The idea was to kill the two using any means necessary, but I much prefer being a ghost in stealth games. I ended up stalking one of my targets to a bridge above the Saine before snapping his neck and pushing him in, and then poisoning the other's champagne, all while looking far too fabulous for the slab of wood and brick that Agent 47 is. The level was actually very enjoyable, and much more so than the first few. As far as ethics go, the only ethical dilemma I'm even seeing is 'killing people is bad' and that doesn't really matter because that's all you do in the game, and 47 doesn't seem bothered by it considering that he's an ASSASSIN.Thu, 08 Nov 2018 21:01:32 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6877&iddiary=12311Hitman (Complete First Season) (PC) - Tue, 06 Nov 2018 18:05:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6877I started the game off, and was immediately told to kill some thief guy after watching a vague edgy cutscene. I wanted to poison him by tainting the soup he was to be fed, but the game handheld me to his office and said to shoot him. Next mission, I was told to kill a soviet spy by tampering with his jet. Even though this was supposed to be the 'final test' with 'increased difficulty' because the head of the vague assassination agency hates me, it was actually easier than the first mission. Then I got another vague, edgy cutscene and the demo ended, and now I'm just severely confused about what that training was supposed to be about since Agent 47 already has assassination training. Overall, I'm not a big fan of this game so far and I'd rather be playing Dishonored.Tue, 06 Nov 2018 18:05:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6877&iddiary=12226This is the Police (PC) - Thu, 27 Sep 2018 23:29:27https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824Very little has changed in both the story and in the gameplay. I'm still getting penalized for being a straight edged cop in a completely exaggerated and lopsided way, and the mafia are still there, although I frequently elect not to employ them. This game's story really isn't provoking any thought anymore, and the gameplay has utterly bored me. I wouldn't really recommend this game to anyone else.Thu, 27 Sep 2018 23:29:27 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824&iddiary=12179This is the Police (PC) - Wed, 26 Sep 2018 23:38:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824On my second play session, I found that it seemed like a lot of my decisions either really didn't mean anything in the long run, or they had shitty consequences simply because the game was trying to make a pretentious point about systematic discrimination or something similarly controversial and topical. I've encountered the mafia and somehow joined them without trying to, which is even more baffling because I was trying to play as a straight-edged completely lawful cop. So all of my lawful, justice oriented decisions have led me to becoming a willing part of the mafia, and I'm feeling a heavy ludo-narrative dissonance. I'm not liking the way the story is stapling me to one specific critical path after offering me the illusion of choice and freedom.Wed, 26 Sep 2018 23:38:47 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824&iddiary=12121This is the Police (PC) - Tue, 25 Sep 2018 23:38:16https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824The story so far is pretty interesting, although unfocused. The gameplay is honestly just a worse version of XCOM/FTL, although I think the choices are slightly more engaging than XCOM's, but not as well designed as FTL's. The actual ethics are a little shaky because it assumes that you're either the squeaky clean straight edge cop or the second coming of the antichrist with no middle ground. So it's an interesting concept, but overall I think the narrative is trying really hard to be something more than it is.Tue, 25 Sep 2018 23:38:16 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6824&iddiary=12086Nier Automata (PS4) - Thu, 30 Aug 2018 23:59:46https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6781The first 30 minutes of the game are honestly terrible due to the lack of ability to save, obtain items, or move freely, and the camera is frankly horrible, but everything else about the game is sparing it from my 'instant shit-list', which is to say games which immediately piss me off and recieve only my joking attention instead of any serious interaction. I must say that the characters have instantly piqued my attention, with 2B's no-nonsense exterior seemingly hiding a rebellious interior, and the combat is so fluid and satisfying that it almost feels like a more mobile, faster paced version of Bloodbourne. Concluding Thoughts: This game has grabbed my attention in a way I haven't felt since I played Zero Escape, a fantastic game which I'm seeing many similarities to this game with in the story already. I am excited to continue playing. -JojoThu, 30 Aug 2018 23:59:46 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=6781&iddiary=12008
