alyang's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=206Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 05:59:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1394I found that this game, even though it's so simple, it's really challenging. I can definetly see why this is one of greatest games of all time. Although the intsructions are simple, not to get hit and to destroy the enemy, it becomes pretty difficult to do this. You have to time your jumps just right in order to not touch the enemy. Even though there are hard parts to this game, there are also a lot of secrets and cheats that can really help you to beat the game. I think that there's a really good balance with the level of difficulty with this game and it's what keeps it so fin and entertaining.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 05:59:47 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1394&iddiary=2956Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 05:15:16https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1394The story for Super Mario Bros. 3 is that Bowser's children, the Koopalings, have stolen each of the Mushroom World Kings' wands and have turn them into an animal. You must defeat the Koopalings in order to get the wands back and change the kings back into his original form. I thought this story was pretty cute, and a change because it's not just about saving a princess anymore. Your task is simple, to get through by destroying the enemy. The controls were straight forward and easy to use. The power-ups in this game made it really fun since you can fly instead of just running. This also made the game easy enough to get through some parts, but there were still challenges in this game. Although there were features that made it simple enough to get fairly far throughout the game, it was still hard enough to avoid getting hit, which created just enough challenge for you to want to play more.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 05:15:16 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1394&iddiary=2949Bust-A-Move (N64) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 06:04:43https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1211Instead of playing Normal mode, which is what I play the most often, I decided to play the Variety mode just because I haven't plaed that one in a while. The different types of bubbles make it more a little more interesting than the normal mode. For example, the sparkly bubble that once you shoot it at a certain colored bubble, all of the bubbles of that same color disappear. This could be either really helpful in clearing up most of your bubbles, but it actually sometimes doesn't do much if you don't know which color you need to get rid of. This game does require some strategy. There are chains and combos that are really help you to win the game. There are some rainbow colored bubbles that become whatever color bubble it touches they pop. If 3 or more of the rainbow bubbles turn the same color, then they automatically are cleared. There is one charcter that only attacks with the rainbow colored bubbles, so if she attacks you a lot, then you could actually get rid of all of the rainbow bubbles easily. Each of the characters have different combinations of bubble attacks. Some of them have just plain colored bubbles, and some have the sparkly or rianbow ones. There are also block looking things that you can't get rid of unless you do a chain where you get rid of all of the bubbles holding the blocks up. If you clear bubbles up that are holding others underneath, then the ones underneath will drop as well. This is one of the best ways to attack the other person because the more bubbles you get rid of, the more bubbles will pile up on the other person's side.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 06:04:43 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1211&iddiary=2600Bust-A-Move (N64) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 04:34:32https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1211Although I have the original version of this game for Playstation, I decided to get the one for N64 because you are able to play different characters with this version. I think that overall, this game is really cute. The cute litte characters and colorful bubbles is something that makes this game for me, more fun. In the Playstation version of this game, you are only allowed to use the little dinosaur, but in this version there are a lot more characters, which aren't as cute, but having more variety is why I like N64 version better than the Playstation one. This game is really simple to learn. All you have to do is shoot the bubbles to their corresponding colors and if you align 3 of them in a row, they pop, and that's how you attack your opponent. The goal is to clear your bubbles so that more bubbles appear on your opponent's side. There are also puzzle modes where you just have to figure out how to clear all of your bubbles in order to go onto the next puzzle. Some of these were really easy and could be cleared within a few seconds. I found that a few of them were difficult, but I eventually passed them after a couple of tries. Overall so far, this game is pretty fun but not very challenging.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 04:34:32 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1211&iddiary=2580Mario Party (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 04:02:03https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1005I think that combining board games with video games makes Mario Party very interesting and fun. It's like a board game because you randomly choose where to go on the board and random actions happen on the different spaces that you can land on. The mini games are just like challenges that you can find in a regular video game. But after playing this again for a while, I remembered that the joystick used to hurt my hand a lot while playing some of the mini games. This is the only thing that I don't like about Mario Party, but I still enjoy playing it anyway.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 04:02:03 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1005&iddiary=2186Mario Party (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 03:54:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1005I really enjoyed playing this game, especially with other people. The mini games are especially fun because there are a lot of different varieties of them. You are able to play four-player, two-on-two, one-on-three, or just 1 player games. I think that this makes the mini games especially interesting because there are all different and you won't get bored of them easily. Mario Party is designed so that you are able to socialize with your friends while playing and I think that this is what makes this game so fun.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 03:54:34 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1005&iddiary=2183Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:11:10https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=767Playing again helped me to remember that you need to use the joystick more, rather than the buttons to execute different attacks. I found that the characters are really simple to use, especially Kirby. He is able to float for longer periods of time which makes it more easy for you to stay alive. Some of the items that come in the barrels are also very helpful because they can easily knock other opponents off of the stage. I think that what makes this game fun to play is that it's easy, yet challenging, and there are a lot of different ways that you can attack the opponents. It's also really fun because you are able to play against 3 other people which can make this a good party game.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:11:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=767&iddiary=1844Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 03:29:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=767The last time I played Super Smash Brothers was probably when it first came out on N64. I remember I had so much fun playing this game with my friends. When I played it again just now, I remembered the reasons why I really loved playing this game. One was the characters. They had new characters like Pikachu, which was really popular from Pokemon at that time, as well as classic characters like Link. I also enjoyed the different stages that you could choose from. I like how it's different from most fighting ames because the object of this game is not to just K.O. the other players by hitting them, but to knock them off of the stage. I think that this makes the game really fun and also somewhat challenging at the same time. Characters are able to float or jump back onto the stage if they get knocked off so you won't die as quickly. This is what makes it easy enough to play, but challenging enough to want to make you play more.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 03:29:02 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=767&iddiary=1715Parasite Eve (PS) - Sat, 13 Jan 2007 01:17:46https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=580After playing for another hour I still haven't gotten very far in the game. There was a lot of dialogue and you just have to find items and explore the place more. I'm not really into RPGs so I lost interest in just levelling up after a while. The interesting thing about this game is that this is the first RPG that I know of where you have control over your character during free battles. So during free battle you can run around and dodge attacks. This made it easier to survive throughout the game. I still find the controls to be not so great because it takes forever to get from point A to point B. This could have been a better game if the character was easier to maneuver around objects and if there were more challenges throughout the game.Sat, 13 Jan 2007 01:17:46 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=580&iddiary=1475Parasite Eve (PS) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 04:44:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=580I thought the storyline of this game was pretty interesting. It starts out with you as the main protagonist, Aya, who is a female New York City cop. She attends an opera on Christmas Eve and the actors and audience suddenly burst into flames...since she is a cop you have to investigate what's going on. In the beggining you have to talk to the main actress of the opera and she turns out to be an evil mutant women thing who talks about mitochondrea (I totally forgot what that is...) and how I should know who she is and that I will be "awakening" soon. Next I was expected to shoot her a couple of times until she talks some more and then dissapears off stage. So far all I've done is explore the theatre and levelled up by killing giant rats. You only need to hit them once or twice until they die, so so far this game has been pretty simple. I don't really like the controls though because it gets confusing on how to get around the burned bodies and stuff. I also don't like how if you are in a room and walk near the door, it will take you back outside. I think it would've been better if they made you press a button to open doors instead of just walking to them. I think the only reason why I would continue playing this game is to find out what the whole story is about. It's not really a fun or entertaining game, but it makes you want to know what the connection is between your character and that actress woman. The cut scenes are really short; just glimpses of what looks like the past because there is a little girl laying in what seems to be an operation room. As a play more, I hope that the challenges will be more fun and that the storyline will still be interesting enough for me to keep playing.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 04:44:15 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=580&iddiary=1354
