The variety of levels kept me intrigued while playing the game. There were levels on land, in castles, in the water, and a few others. There were also new features like the racoon mario feature. This allows you to fly, which is a very fun and helpful addition. Other new items that you can collect are the frog suit, P-wing, and then Super Leaf. Also, I noticed that if you complete a world and save princess, you might be awarded with special items. I was awarded with a Magic Whistle after the third level, but not after any other levels, so Im not sure what you have to do to get these items. After playing for about thirty minutes, I decided to check out the different minigames that I had previously come across on the map screen. I participated in Toad's memory game, in which I had to remember which pictures were in which box. This feature was a fun addition to the normal gameplay. Overall, I feel like this is a vast improvement from Super Mario Bros and a wonderful game to pass the time. I am excited to see how far I can get and what this game has in store for me. As the third title in the Mario Bros, SMB 3 introduces many new levels, enemies, features, and puzzles. This is the first time that I have been able to play Super Mario Bros 3, but I have been playing the first Super Mario Bros since I was young. The first thing that I noticed in the new title was the addition of the map screen. This allowed me to see where I was in the game and how far I had come. As I continued playing, I noticed many differences in the levels and characters. The level artwork was much more animated, making the game very interesting. There were many similar characters from the original, but the third version also introduced new enemies. The first addition I encountered were the Koopa Kids, Bowsers children. Luckily, the gameplay itself was similar to the original. This allowed an easy transition for a new player. In the first 45 minutes of playing Super Mario Bros 3, my favorite aspect is the ability to use the map screen to choose different paths in the levels. I will post my second half of my lof after another hour of gaming.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 15:48:26 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1431&iddiary=3031Madden NFL Football 2007 (PS2) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 10:47:20https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1189After completing my first exhibition game on this years Madden NFL Football, I was very impressed with the on-field gameplay enhancements and overall fun level. The final score of the 49ers-Raiders game was 35-28, with my Niners coming out on top. After the end of the game, I explored all of the new features of the game. I decided to start the NFL Superstar mode, where you create a player to enter the draft. This mode starts with the assignment of your birth parents. First, I was given a Father who had been a Savings Broker with an IQ of 110, and a mother who had been a secretary with an IQ of 99. I didn't see much potential in this players genes, so I decided to be assigned another set of parents. The next set turned out to be much better. My father had been a Pro Bowl halfback that played in the NFL. This was my guy. So, I created the rookie halfback Taylor Lee out of the Ohio State University. The next step was to sign an agent to handle my future decisions and contracts. Once he was signed, I was given an IQ test and I was able to score in the 90th percentile. Before the draft, I had to complete various training regimines to boost up my draft value. At the draft, I was selected in the second round by the Green Bay Packers. I had to complete a couple interviews with the media and then start the preseason. NFL Superstar mode is the deepest mode I have ever encountered in a sports title. This was the most fun I have had playing a video game in years. My first season went exceptionally well. I won the offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to my first Pro Bowl. There is a hall of fame checklist in the mode of many accomplishments that you must achieve to be selected into the Hall, and these would take many many seasons to complete. So, after about 2 hours of playing around in this mode, I have decided to take a break. Madden NFL Football is a must have for any sports fan, whether you are a frequent gamer or not.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 10:47:20 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1189&iddiary=2618Madden NFL Football 2007 (PS2) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 00:40:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1189EA Sports brings us another outstanding year of its most prestigious title, Madden NFL Football. This year the game features many new modes, including NFL Superstar-Hall of Fame, in which you create a player that goes through the many phases of being drafted into the NFL. Along with these new modes, Madden 07 sticks to its roots of fun, realistic, and in-depth gameplay on the field. With updated rosters and improved defensive gameplay that includes complete control of every player on your team, I was ready to hit the field and see what this years version had to offer. Madden Football is the only video game that can consume me and intrigue me to play for countless hours at a time. I have played this title since the day it came out for the Sega Genesis, and have been able to see the evolution of its graphics and gameplay. This years version did not let down. My first task was to play an exhibition game between my favorite team, the San Fransisco 49ers, and the Oakland Raiders. Right from the kickoff I recognized some new features of the game, including the kicking meter, hit stick, and various defensive moves. On offense, I was a tad bit dissapointed with the ratings of my running back, Frank Gore, but that was the only complaint. Everything was very smooth. Audibles were easy to conduct and I had full control of the field. If this is the closest I will come to playing in the NFL, I wouldn't even mind. At halftime, the score was 21-10, 49ers leading. The first 30 minutes of this game have been outstanding, and I cannot wait to get back to the game. I will post the second half of the gamelog soon. Cheers!Fri, 09 Feb 2007 00:40:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1189&iddiary=2543Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 13:23:23https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=984After playing another hour of GTA- San Andreas, I came to realize that the different aspects of this game really are impressive. They have incorporated so many different types of gameplay into one game. You have to learn how to ride a bike, drive a car, shoot a gun, and even lift weights. The technique to lifting weights is alternating between pressing x and o, similar to those old olympic games that I used to play for playstation. Some of these missions took my a very long time to complete. I probably spent 45 minutes just trying to complete the drive by mission without my car blowing up. Driving in this game was anything but easy. Just trying to get from one place to another, I probably ran over 25 people. It is easy to understand why this game is rated Mature. After another hour of this game, I found myself stuck on the same mission that I had been on for 30 minutes. The difficulty of this game was very high for me, but that is probably because I have never played anything like this. Overall, this game was extremely grusome, violent, and some what racist..but, still intertaining.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 13:23:23 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=984&iddiary=2234Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 00:24:42https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=984Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas is a very interesting video game. It attempts to portray the life of a man who comes home to attend his mothers funeral, but winds up stuck in the middle of the gang activity that he left the neighborhood for in the first place. This game is extremely brutal, but has an interesting progressive story line. There are a series of cut scenes in the beginning of the game to inform you on where you stand in this mans life. The graphics are decent for this console, but you can tell that the producers of this game were not going for the best graphics, just gameplay that is sure to make anyone cringe. The language and violence in this game is by far the most indecent that I have ever seen in a game. Some examples of missions are to "tag" enemy terretories, conduct drive-by shootings, and gain respect from your brother and old friends. After beating up some crack dealers and heading to the gym to work on my physique, I had to take my buddies to a guy named Eddie to get some guns. This earned me some respect. The goals in this game are very violent and somewhat inappropriate, but are intertaining nonetheless. I will get back soon for my second half of the gamelog.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 00:24:42 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=984&iddiary=2137Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 00:43:54https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=707Gamelog 2/ Session 2 The second hour of GoldenEye 007 was a different experience, but entertaining all the same. My friends and I finished up our multiplayer extravaganza, trying a couple different levels as well as weapon schemes. After fooling around a little, I decided to try out single player. The set up for single player was a tad bit more simple than multiplayer, seeing as you could only play as Bond. The first level starts with the well known cut scene from the movie "GoldenEye" of Bond bunjee jumping off the bridge, leading you into a battle with his first enemy, Alec. In fact, this game closely paralleled the movie in every way. I found this aspect of the game to be very compelling. Even the music sounded like the music from the classic Bond movie. While advancing through the levels, I am given different mission goals. I must complete these goals in order to advance. The vast selection of weapons that I came across were very interesting. Some of the guns allowed you to use a sniper feature by pressing the R trigger. This make gunning down enemies much easier. After playing single player for about an hour, I found myself stuck at the same level I had been at for 20 minutes so I decided to take a break. Overall, I have been playing this game for over 2 hours ( longer than I have played a video game in years) and I am compelled to continue playing. I can now see why gamers consider this the best shooter ever made.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 00:43:54 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=707&iddiary=1671Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 16:31:05https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=707GoldenEye 007 reminds us that simple gameplay and mediocre graphics can entertain a group of gamers just as well as the new generation games today. GoldenEye was one of the most popular games of it's time, revolutionizing the multiplayer shooting concept. The design of this game keeps my intrigued in both multiplayer as well as single player. For the first hour of GoldenEye, I chose to play multiplayer with three other friends. The set up for Multiplayer contains a various amount of scenarios to choose from. You are allowed to choose from many different characters, levels, types of weapons, level of difficulty, amount of kills, and even types of gameplay. We chose to play in the Bunker level with automatic weapons. The anticipation of playing against friends in this game brought back memories of when I had played this game into the late hours with friends in middle school. It can truly bring out the competitiveness in a person and create a very fun social event. One of the first things that I recalled about this game was that it was the first game that I had played with a radar, allowing us to see where we were in comparison to the other players. I am not too familiar with other shooters on the this platform, but I believe this is the only game I have played with that type of radar on the N64. The design of the level is somewhat maze-like, making it very confusing to direct where you are going or remember where that RCP-90 was located. None of us had played this game in years, and we were extremely rusty. After playing for about an hour of multiplayer, my friend finally reached 30 wins. Overall, the first hour of GoldenEye 007 was just how I remembered, very fun.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 16:31:05 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=707&iddiary=1599NCAA Football 2005 (XBX) - Thu, 11 Jan 2007 22:50:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=516For the second hour of NCAA Football 2005, I completed the rest of my multiplayer game with my friend. At halftime, I was down 21-14. The first half was not pretty for me because I was still adjusting to the controls. During the second half I started to get the hanf of the game, and was able to recognize when to select the right formations. This was definately a game that you need to play for several hours before mastering the gameplay. The game between my friend and I was very intense and came down to the last play, where I was able to run a trick Option-reverse. It is not everyday that you see a play like this work, but it worked beautifully in this virtual challenge. The final score was Ohio State- 35, Florida- 28. There were many other features of this game that look very interesting and I look forward to seeing what else it has to offer. There are features including season mode, campus challenge, or even franchise in which you can create a new school. I browsed through this feature and it is extremely deep. You can customize everything from the schools colors, to it's mascot, to the type of cleats the athletes wear. This is one feature that you could spend days working on. This game had every formation I have ever seen in a real college football game, and the graphics were outstanding. Any little mistake you make may cost you the game, which is true to any real sport. NCAA Football captures almost everything that you look for in a sports game, even fan interaction. I have yet to see a video game on the new consoles like Xbox 360 or PS3, but I can only imagine what a game like NCAA Football is like on the new generation consoles. I highly recommend this game to any video or even sports fan out there.Thu, 11 Jan 2007 22:50:15 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=516&iddiary=1243NCAA Football 2005 (XBX) - Thu, 11 Jan 2007 20:17:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=476Picking UpThu, 11 Jan 2007 20:17:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=476&iddiary=1212
