GraugyFi's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=228Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 15:56:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1350After the long cinematics at the beginning with the Deku tree it was nice to venture out and get the ocarina of time. I began by exploring the world a bit ti get acquainted with the gameplay once more. I had remembered from the first time that I had played that I needed to go the the castle to find Zelda. So i did just that. I had forgotten that the day turns into night the longer you are out on the field so I spent the first night killing enemies while I waited for the sun to arise to that I could enter the castle. This is one of the things that I like about this game. It allows for events to take place at certain time and adds a whole new element to the puzzles that the game presents. At first I could not get into the castle because I had forgotten the puzzle but I then figured it out and so I didn't walk in front of the guards. I remember from the first time that I played this game and even now that these puzzles at the beginning add a sort of enjoyment to my game experience. I find them a little challenging but mostly they help me to figure out how the puzzles in this game are going to work. Finally after reaching the princess I got the letter and headed out of the castle and back into the world. I like the world in this game because it is one continuous one, instead of having to go into specific places to fulfill tasks, puzzles can be solved all around this continuous gameworld. So I explored a bit more. I then went into the ranch where I know that there are many puzzles to find. The first thing I did though was talk to the little girl and get Eponas song. I like the whole idea of using songs for puzzles because it adds a whole new element that needs to be fulfilled at different parts of the game. From there I went to the Kakariko village where I had remembered that the letter had to be taken. Once I got there I had to save the game because I had other things that I had to attend to.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 15:56:17 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1350&iddiary=3033Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Thu, 22 Feb 2007 16:34:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1350I have played this game in the past. In the past I found that it was very difficult to figure anything out. However, this time around I am having a much easier time getting around. I began the game anew. I would have to say t hat i think this game has a very good storyline and that it in a way grasps me and makes me want to play more. The first thing that I did was find my sword for young link. The fairy offers a good amount of direction in the game, a thing that I did not truly realize when I had played many years ago. After finding my sword I proceeded to get my shield from the store for 40 rupees. From there I wandered around the little town. Once I got bored wandering I headed towards the Deku tree. The dungeon I found to be a bit more confusing and frustrating than the beginning. There are many puzzles that had to be solved in order to even get to the basement of the dungeon. However, this is one of the features of the game that I do like, although a bit frustrating at times it keeps the game ever-challenging. When I finally found my way to Queen Gohma I found that she was very easy to defeat and now I can finally continue on my journey out of the forest.Thu, 22 Feb 2007 16:34:37 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1350&iddiary=2877Counter Strike (PC) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 15:35:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1255For my second hour of gameplay I played a map where you could level up your weapons. I had never played this type of game before. The way it worked was that every player started off the game with the first hand gun in the game. No one could buy weapons or armour. The goal was to get as many kills as you could and for every two kills your weapon upgrades. If you die, you respawn automatically. It was a fast paced game that needed all of my concentration. My strategy was to follow my teammates and work as a group to get kills. This strategy worked well and I was able to rank 3rd on my team for many of the rounds. I also played as quickly as I could. This game helped me work on my shot. I learned to aim higher as to get more headshots. Although I did not get any more headshots I got many more kills. I finally had more kills than deaths. (this is a tough game to get back into) I ended up playing a number of maps. My favorite map for this game was the office. It allowed the game to be much quicker than it had been in other levels. The problem I had most with the game was that we did not play each level for long enough. We would play two 8 minute rounds. This however wasn't enough time for me to get very far past the automatic shotgun. This game improved both my aim and my quickness, both to hide and to shoot. I wish I had remembered the name of this game because I would like to play it again.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 15:35:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1255&iddiary=2679Counter Strike (PC) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 15:22:38https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1255I used to play this game a great deal and was fairly good at it. I spent most of the 45 minutes that I played this game getting back into it. I spent my time playing two levels, "dust" and "aztec." I also switched back and forth between counter terrorists and terrorists. My basic goal was to re-teach myself strategy. When I first began playing on dust I did terrible. I ended up dying many times before I actually could get a kill as a counter terrorist. My weapon of choice was the m4. I continued to play even though I had been getting frustrated with dying. However, each time I died I watched other players play, one aspect of the game that I think is great. It helped me learn other players strategies to help improve upon mine. So I began taking the game a little more cautiously. I had forgotten that my player could actually duck, which helped me a lot. I then played the map aztec on which I played as a terrorist. My weapon of choice here was the ak47. I began using the map a bit more than I had in dust. I found that it was a bit easier to hide and conseal myself in this map. My strategy here, which worked fairly well, was to sneak behind the CT forces and take them out from behind. I also started working with my teammates more. I realized that I cannot always take it alone; that was why I kept on getting killed. Even though I did not get too many kills this time I really felt that the strategy I learned would help me out in the future.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 15:22:38 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1255&iddiary=2672Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:41:51https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1031The second go around went much better than that of the first. This time I chose Link as my character. I chose the same difficulty as the first go around, hard. I found that one of the most difficult battles I had was against the character that I played as because they attempted many of the same moves as me. I had a little better experience this time because of my character choice. It was interesting to see how big of a difference character selection had in my gameplay. Unlike with Fox I spent no time learning the moves because I already had experience with Link. The game moved along a little more quickly with Link. I found myself using many of his 'A' moves a great deal more than I did with Fox. I ended up exhausting my lives playing Metal Mario, one of the games characters that I have had difficulty with in the past. The levels in this game are very well set up. No two are quite the same and it makes the gameplay more challanging as you progress through the stages by putting more obstacles in the way and taking away land that you can stand on. On the level vs. Donkey Kong I found myself utilizing the bucket underneath the stage many times to bring myself back on the playing field.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:41:51 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1031&iddiary=2262Super Smash Brothers (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 05:42:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1031This game has always been fun. I rarely ever play the game in the single player mode. This time I chose Fox as my character. I never play with Fox and am not well accustomed to all of his moves. I played it on hard, something I would not likely do because Iam not too great at this game. The first level against Link was quite easy and I used it to get better with my specials. As the game progressed I found myself lacking the skills in order to win many of the matches. I in fact got lucky many times. One of those times was when the one kirby from the team of kirby's got a hammer and would have clearly taken one of my lives ended up somehow eliminating himself along with two other kirby's. I kept on playing and losing lives too quickly. The match vs donkey kong ended up taking two of my lives and left me with one left. I had been playing but I found myself unable to get the control over Fox that I needed. My controller 'A' button was sticking and gave me a great disadvantage throughout the campaign. I ended up losing my last life to Samus where I fell in the lava. I will try again, next time with a different character.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 05:42:48 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1031&iddiary=2200Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:47:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=691My second go aroung was much harder. I have moved from a level that was in a building to fighting in the jungle. This called for a different kind of gameplay. I no longer needed to be as quiet, but I did need to learn how to hide myself a little bit better. I attempted this level three times. Once I learned where all the drone guns were I was pretty set. The computer players have gotten much more challenging. It is worth it to take the level slow at first to learn the map and how the ememies will try to fight. Unlike the beggining of the campaign I feel a greater deal of accomplishment once I had beat the further levels. Fri, 19 Jan 2007 12:47:24 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=691&iddiary=1763Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 22:11:49https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=691This is a great game. It always challenges me. When I played for this assignment I was able to complete only two levels. I continued on a campaign that I had began at the beginning of the year. The gameplay is tough and is at times a little frustrating. On the flip side the levels are pretty quick, which helps to ease this feeling. By the time I was done playing each level I felt like I had really learned the map and could do it many more times. The second mission that I played was of great difficulty. I need to learn how to use throwing knives better , and overall I need to learn how to become more stealthy.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 22:11:49 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=691&iddiary=1648Age of Empires III (PC) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:46:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=500This is an entry that i logged incorrectly, and precedes the first log. This is a great game. I have played the series since the original Age of Empires. The game play has drastically changed since the original release. I have been recently playing the campaign mode in the game. My latest campaign was tough and took me twice to accomplish. Although it was frustrating to lose my first try, it taught me better strategy to use to better defend my civilization. It also taught me how to spend my resources and how to better collect them. I'm sure my next endevour will be just as much fun. I give the game a 5 on the rating scale because it always keeps me coming back to play more and is always challenging. Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:46:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=500&iddiary=1295Age of Empires III (PC) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:43:59https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=500The second time around was an overall good experience. The storyline of the campaign in AOE III still continues to entertain me. This level required me to utilize a completely different strategy than the previous campaign. In this one my objectives were to follow the hero, Bolivar, and his army to crush the Spanish. This time I was given sufficient resources to collect(something that had been a problem in the previous canpaign), but I only created a small amount of villagers initially, which in turn led to a deficiency in resources. It had me feeling that I was not going to be able to mount an offense strong enough to defeat the oppoistion. I however, quickly channeled my lumber resources into the production of fishing boats. This freed up my villagers and I was able to put more energy in collecting wood, which I used to make more ships, and coin which is essential to the production of most units.
