Ben Ferg's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=231Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:39:46https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1415For my second session of grand theft auto i decided to start doing missions for my bosses. The first couple missions were very easy and only involved picking someone up and dropping them off at their destination, or driving to a destination and shooting someone. After a few missions they started to get more difficult. On some i had to save someone who was in a building guarded by many guards. These missions took me a while because i would get impatient and then get careless and not see someone who then shoots and kills me. After a couple tries i would memorize where all the guys were hiding and i would breeze through the mission. My favorite mission was when i got to fly to my destination because i had been trying to fly one of the planes but i could never get into the airport so when the airport opened for me to complete the mission i was very happy. The plane made it so much easier to get from island to island.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:39:46 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1415&iddiary=3012Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:28:27https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1415My first session playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was very fun. I enjoy playing this game a lot because there is a variety of thing to do in the game besides following the story line and completing missions. When i started playing i just drove around in various cars and played around with different weapons. Then i decided to see how many stars i could get on my wanted level. Once i got to the maximum limit, 6 stars, the army came after me. I managed to steal a tank and drive around the city for a while. Then i used the wanted level cheat to get rid of all my stars. Once i did this i began doing vigilante missions in order to make money for later in the game. This money turns out to be very useful when i want to buy property because i can use it to save the game and store vehicles when i do not want to use them. If i could change anything about this game i wouldnt. I would leave the game the way it is because i think it is great. All the things i would have changed about the old grand theft auto(able to swim, and more weapons) were changed when this version was made.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:28:27 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1415&iddiary=3007Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (PS2) - Wed, 14 Feb 2007 00:59:11https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1321My second time playing splinter cell went a lot better than the first. I had all the controls down so i got right into the game. This time I played with my roomate. On the two person level the game goes to a split screen and the both of you need to figure out a way to get oast each mission. When we started to play we could not find out how to get by the first level. We both had to go to either side of a huge cargo room and flip a switch at the same time. We were only able to find one of the switches at first and it took almost a whole hour to find the other switch. Finally we both went to the other side and walked around until we found it. By this time we were so sick of playing we bith just stopped playing for a while.Wed, 14 Feb 2007 00:59:11 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1321&iddiary=2825Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (PS2) - Wed, 14 Feb 2007 00:46:08https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1321Ever since the first splinter cell came out i have been a big fan of the game. At first is was hard to get used to the controls becasue there is so much you have to remember. There are multiple types of goggles that need to be used in the game and there are different buttons for each. Also when you kill someone you have to hide the body so that other characters dont see it and know you are there. All of this makes the game very slow paced. It takes a long time to get through each level so playing the game requires a time commitment. My first session playing this game i started a new game and played by myself. It took a while to figure everything out but it came back to me quickly. What i love the most about this game is that it is like a puzzle. There is a certain way of getting through each level which makes it very fun. You cant just rush through every level. You have to pace yourself and think through every decision before acting on it or else you will pay the consequences of losing the level and starting over or losing a significant amount of life.Wed, 14 Feb 2007 00:46:08 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1321&iddiary=2824James Bond Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 15:46:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1049My second time playing Golden Eye I played with some friends and i had a lot of fun. We got very competitive and it was a fun atmosphere to be a part of. We each picked our characters and i picked Oddjob. Since he is the shortest character in the game people had trouble killing me. I still had trouble aiming myself but it gave me more time to set up my shot on the other person. One thing i liked to do was hide on a high ledge and shoot people down below. Once i started shooting them they did not know where the shots were coming from and when they finally found out i had already killed them. I liked playing against other people rather than against the computer because it is a lot more fun to compete amongst friends.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 15:46:41 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1049&iddiary=2284James Bond Goldeneye 007 (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:06:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1049For my fist session I played Golden Eye. I used to play this game a lot when i was younger. I always played with a bunch of my other friends on my swim team when we got to the pool early for practice. I was never really good at it because you have to manually aim at your opponant and i was not very good at that. Most of the time I would get lucky when i shot someone. Even though i was not very good i enjoyed playing. When i first got this game i played by myself. It took me a while to get used to it but after a while i got the hang of it. At first i kept using all my ammo so the only weapon i had was my hands and that did not work very well because everytime i saw an opponant they would shoot me before i could get close. I soon learned to use my ammo cautiously and it helped me to get further along in the game. It is a very fun game that you can only get better at.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:06:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1049&iddiary=2247Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:34:38https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=831My second time playing Super Mario Bros 3 was much better than the first because i was familiar with all the controls and i was used to the system i was playing on. It was a lot easier for me to get past levels that had troubled me in the past. The levels that still gave me trouble were the ones where i had to jump from platform to platform without falling and loosing a life. I dont know what is was about the level but it always took me 3 or 4 tries to complete it. A feature that seemed to give me trouble on my second go around was the enemy that constantly follows you throwing so,ething at you. I would get so frustrated trying to defeat these enemies because most times they would take one of my lives. After a while i just tried my hardest to just avoid these and keep moving along. The mario games have to me my favorite out of all the games out today. Even though they do not have the technology that the games today have, I have never had so much fun playing a video game.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:34:38 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=831&iddiary=1853Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:04:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=831My first session of playing Super Mario Bros 3 was very fun because it was the first time in almost 6 years that I had played it. My last time playing was at a friends house in 6th grade. I have always been a huge fan of the mario games. The first game i owned myself was mario for game boy. When my friends and i first started playing we were not very good. Me made careless mistakes and kept getting killed by the simplest enemies. One thing about the game that kept messing me up was how loose the controls felt. When i would jump over things or try to run and then stop really fast it seemed that my character would keep moving for a split second after i let go of the button. This messed me up because it would cause me to fall to my death or come up short of an enemy which would cost me a life. After a while i got better by over compensating for the loose controls. If I were to go back and change anything about the game i would try to change the loose controls. Other than that I am enjoying everything about the game and hopefully i will get better at it the next time I play.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 17:04:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=831&iddiary=1842Madden NFL Football 2007 (PS2) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:58:17https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=451 When playing Madden 2007 a second time i played by myself and i was able to explore many of the different gameplay features. One of my favorites was the mini camp. This is a game mode where you can brush up on many different skills needed to be successful at the game. Soem of the mini camp drills are pocket pressure, clutch kicking, corner punting, swat ball, and trench fight. When you play these game modes you play as a certain NFL player. For example: when i played clutch kicking i played as the arizona cardinals field goal kicker. You are given a certain amaount of time to kick as many field goals as you can and you are awarded a certain amaount of points for how accurate your ball is to the center of the field goal. You can get three types of awards for playing these games. There is a brondzse, silver and gold medal. If yo recieve a gold metal for your performance you are given a cheat card. This cheat card can be used during gameplay. The card given for a gold medal on the clutch kicking drill is a cheat to be able to kick a field goal on any part of the playing field no matter how far away you are. I thought this was a very enjoyable extra to the game because it gave me more options than to just start and start straight into a game. It also helps me to understand the game of football a little further. It helped to teach me techniques that are necessary in order to be a great player. Growing up I have always been more into the sports games rather tha the RPG's because I was way into sports. I believe that this is by far the best football game out right now. When playing the new 2007 version I noticed how great the graphics are compared to the '99 version i bought for my pc when i was younger. The gameplay is great too. You can have multiple friends in a room all competing against each other. It gets very competitive and is extremely fun. I played a game against 4 of my friends where we all took turns by every half of play. It was interesting to watch how different people have different styles of play and different strategies that they use throughout the game.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:36:25 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=451&iddiary=1288
