Tacuva_12's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=283Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:26:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1372 Fighting agaisnt the Colossus is an interesting experience. After a couple of trial and error, I figured out how to do it. It took several tries, but after successfully killing the colossus I felt exicited and ready to fight more Colossi. After defeating the first Colossus and adapting to the controls of the game I began to explore. I went all over trying to find new areas of the playing field. After some time of exploration, I realized that this game was boring, you did not have any other mission but to fight against the Colossi, there werent any other enemies along the way. I found some lizards and killed a couple of them, but other than that there was nothing much to do, it was lacking minor mission and made the game less exciting. The 3D graphics and the character controls were pretty good for the most part. The story wasnt too exciting, since its been used several times before in other games. After my second session with this game I realized it wasnt that great compared to any of the other games that I have played for this class. It was a dissapointment, but that just because I really wasnt playing the game the way it was meant to be played. Im not big into the "fantasy adventure" genre, so I wasnt too excited to play this game. The background info for this game is like everyother game, the main character is going to enter an "epic" adventure to rescue his "princess." For this game in particular, the main character was going to battle monsters to revive his dead girlfriend. Although, I'm not a big fan of this genre, I have to say this game was not bad. But, it is quite annyoing at times, having to travel all over to find the next monster to battle. The one thing that I did enjoy was battling the monster, It was quite challenging, having to be like a "real warrior" and killing a giant. As the player, you have to climb and stab and shot arrows and just seriously battle. The feature I most enjoyed from this game is being able to count on a reliable partner. Agro is the best thing in this game, its made for lazy people like me who do not want to travel, walking long distances. If for some reason I get lost in some area of the game, I can always count on Agro, the X button is my favorite, all I have to do is press it and Agro is on his way. That is amazing, I really havent encountred that option in any other games. For the most part this game was good, Im still not a real fan of the genre, but Im more open to it because of this game. Thu, 22 Feb 2007 23:36:49 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1372&iddiary=2907Fifa 07 (PC) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 02:46:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1159 In the previous entry, I talked a lot about the features that Fifa 07 has. One think I should have mentioned is the incredible gameplay that this game provides. The graphics are good, I know that with the next generation consoles, they are only going to get better, but they are good for now. Aside from that, the control options that you have in the game are outstanding they are so realistic. The passing is incredible, its so life like, you have an endless amount of pass possibilities. You can cross, lob, filter, just like on a real game, granted you have to have practice in order to take advantage of these passes. However, once you get the hang of it its like you can control a real team, you are seriously the manager, everything you want in a game you can do. The play making is incredible; it’s as if anything that you can come up with you can do. You can fake out defenders and dribble like the best players, the game is just incredible overall. The striking is immaculate, after practice, you can learn how to make the perfect strike, the perfect curve, strike it in a position where the goalie will never reach it. The computer play back is good. Similar to other sports games you have different levels of difficulty. The difficulty levels are amateur, semi-professional, professional, and world class. I know there is one more difficulty level, but you have to play and pass many challenges before you can unlock it. Beating the computer is no easy task, but similar to other computer games after practice you can be the best. That’s when online gaming plays a big part. Once you get to a point, where the computer no longer posses a “real” challenge, you can go up against people who play this game religiously, and truly prove your skills. This game is simply amazing, I don’t think I can ever get tired of it; I just have to keep playing until I pass a 15-season Manager period, which will take a while. The options available for this game are amazing. This game is not just about playing a simple soccer game anymore. Like most sports game, you have options of creating your own player, to customize it however you want. An new for the Fifa games is the option to create your own team. The player has the option of customizing everything from budget of the team to the color of the socks, and you can choose any one of the hundreds of player to be in your team. Besides these customization you have different gameplay options. For example, you can choose to play a friendly match with any team. The player also has the option of playing Fifa 07 challenges, which set certain scenarios for you to play in. For instance, you are loosing by two goals in the last fifteen minutes of the game, and your goal is to win the game as the clock winds down. These challenges are crazy sometimes, it is hard enough to score two goals in any given game, but to win a match in the last fifteen minuets while you are two goals down, that is mind-boggling. The player can also play manager mode, where you are the manager of a team, you decide everything, from who gets to play to who you are going to buy or sell for the next transfer period. If you don’t win enough games you can get fired, and if you win the cup you will be hailed. In addition to all these options, the player can also play online, but this should be expected from any sports game. Thu, 08 Feb 2007 02:25:35 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1159&iddiary=2488Super Mario 64 (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 00:45:03https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=939 This is the second gamelog for Mario 64. This time I noticed the importance of the jumps that Mario has in the game. Unlike the previous Mario games, this time you have a more developed gameplay, jumps being what stood out the most. You don't just simply jump up and thats it. Mario has the back flip jump, which helps getting coins that are "too" high up. You simple crouch and jump, just make sure that you are facing in the opposite direction from which you are trying to reach. Another jump attained through this game is the triple step long jump. First, Mario does a normal jump, then a skip, and then a long jump. This helps getting across big gaps. Also, you have the wall jump, which is essential to certain level, like the one with the ghosts. The jumps made for a better gameplay experience. For the most part this game was fun, with the exception of one flaw. - On the down side this game had one problem, that kept bugging me. Well the problem wasn't really with the game, but more with the controller of the N64 console. The controller has only one joystick, this messes with the camera angles. Ok, so you can change the angle of the camera messing with the c buttons, but its just not the same as having a second joystick, like the ones on the more present controllers. Other than lacking in the controller aspect, the game was enjoyable and entertaining. Mario 64 is a 3D game, which gives the player a lot more freedom, in terms of movement. It seems to be very similar to the previous Mario games for other consoles. You have various levels, again with each level having its own theme, like ice, water and so on. The exception in this game is the stars that you have to acquire in each level. There is a total of seven stars in each level, which help you open doors and continue on with the game play. The stars are a fun new concept with different challenges, some more tedious than other, but overall interesting and different. As I mentioned before this is a 3D game, which in my opinion is the factor that makes this game a lot more entertaining than any of the previous SMB games. You have the option to walk almost anywhere and explore your surroundings thoroughly. So, even after you have completely passed a certain level, you have so much room to just go back and explore, and find hidden things, like lives or coins. Oh, and the cannons are a great new option, in almost every level you have a cannon from which you can shoot yourself out of and reach places that are very hard to get to, by simply jumping. This game is very fun and you have to think about the game play more than you would in any of the other SMB games, it was a breakthrough for the genre and its worth playing. Mon, 29 Jan 2007 21:25:25 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=939&iddiary=2064Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 21:23:48https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=689On my second session with SMB3 I ran into a little problem. The levels are not hard to figure out for the most part, the game like I said before is very entertaining, but World 2 has blocked my quest to finish the game. I ran into a little problem in the penultimate level, the one right before the castle that leads you to the third world. There are blocks stacked up blocking the way, and they prevent me from going further in the level. I've tried various things but to no avail. I'm no where near from finishing this game but that section, has me extremely frustrated at the moment. So if any one can tell me how to get pass that level then please let me know, so that I can go further in the game. I don't know what else to comment on the game, because I ran into that problem. Thu, 18 Jan 2007 21:23:48 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=689&iddiary=1643Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Thu, 18 Jan 2007 00:08:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=689Simply stated, this game is amazing. It is another great installment in the Super Mario genre. The game play is similar to that of the first Super Mario, but with better graphics and more options. Although, SMB 3 is still a 2D game, the improvement in image of the characters is obvious, when comparing them to the first SMB game. The levels in this game a shorter than the previous versions, but there are more levels within every "world." Another difference in this third version are the amount of castles within each world, there are two castles that you have to enter and little Koopas. A standout option of this game is in the amount of lives that you can obtain by playing random mini-games. In each world there are a couple of mini-games, where you either match a picture using three different parts in a slot machine type game, or you have the option to match three similar images that you can obtain at the end of each level. If you are successful in either of these games a decent amount of lives are awarded. One of the major improvements is in the new power that can be achieved. For example, in the first game you could get a flower and be able to fire mini fireballs. Also, there are more and unique ways to obtain coins. You can use the turtles to break blocks into certain patterns that open up hidden coins. There is this "P" button thing that turns blocks into coins once you stomp it. Oh, and you can carry the turtle shells with you and use them as a unique weapons to kill other enemies. In part three you can get a feather and turn into a raccoon type Mario, which allows you to float in the air for extended periods of time. This in my opinion was amazing. The game play in this game is amazing, no wonder it broke records in sales when it first came out. Its going to take a while to pass, I just wish there was a way to save the game, without having to start all over again.Thu, 18 Jan 2007 00:08:02 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=689&iddiary=1573Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 13:41:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=542This is the second game log I do on Sonic the Hedgehog. It is a 2d grapic game that, limits your game play. Regardless of that small "defect" the game is amazing. There is a lot to do within each stage. You not only have to battle it out with robotic insects and collect rings, but you have other special rooms to discover within each stage. There are more than one ways to pass a stage, which makes the game more exciting. For example, on one try you can go on the ground level, and on another try you can go on the top level, where you can find secret entrances to other places in the stage, which usually lead to a rewarding amount of rings. You also have to jump into the trees, because often times there are hidden cubes with rewards in them, like packs of rings and shields that are very useful in the game. The thing that keeps this game exciting is the amount of effor that you have to put in, in order to make it to the next stage. Sometimes you have to travel ontop of single blocks of concret that protect you from an area filled with lava. Other times you have to use the chained spikes that come down at you from the celing in order to make "big" jumps. You have to use ur surroundis in order to effectively figure out a way to get past into a new section. There are always unexpected obsticles that come at you when you think you are safe and about to pass the level. Since this game is very fast pased, due to Sonics velocity it keeps you on your toes and ready to expect the unexpected just to make it to another section within a stage. The amazing experience provided by this game makes you forget all about the graphics and lets you thoroughly enjoy the game. Overall Sonic is a game that I recomend, I just don't know why I didnt bother to play it before.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 13:41:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=542&iddiary=1392Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:05:10https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=542Sonic the Hedghog is to Sega what Super Mario is to Nintendo. Sonic is a character that sparked a whole genre. I am not very familiar with the story in this game, but after palying the game I would say its about a rescue mission. Throughout the game Sonic is on a mission to rescue woodland creatures, animals like rabbits, squirrels, and little birds. Sonic is battling it out with a mad scientist, who has robot insects working for him. Fri, 12 Jan 2007 01:05:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=542&iddiary=1277
