DCuster's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=303Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Sun, 11 Feb 2007 20:13:25https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1235After twenty hours of play I think I'm going to bury this one away. It became boring mostly because of all of the leveling involved trying to get money and liscenses. Also there is so much running around because the world is so expansive. The plot never really grabbed at me too much either. The game did introduce a lot of new cool things to the final fantasy series but I feel the world was too big. The fighting system was cool but the old battle system was never really that flawed and I feel there was no need to change it. Also the game is so long it never really feels like you ever make any progress. Each mission also takes at least a few hours which can be exhausting as well. Anyway it was a good effort but I feel the game just lacks in certain areas where other final fantasy's excelled.Sun, 11 Feb 2007 20:13:25 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1235&iddiary=2797Final Fantasy XII (PS2) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 13:07:38https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1235This game starts off great with you being right in the middle of the action. The storyline is a little hard to grasp right off the start but after awhile you begin to figure it out. The controls are easy to use. It does seem that this final fantasy is similar to FF XI only because you really only need to control one person. It is true that you can explicitly control every character but the gambit system makes it so much easier on you. I will say the liscense system is a little annoying especially since you need certain liscenses for equipment. This does add a different element to the game where you must plan your characters a little more. Pretty much after the first the ten levels of your character you better have a character type for him. It is fun though to have to make a person made for magic using or having a gun character or a bow character. Anyway the cut scenes are amazing even with the next gen consoles out. The new fighting system is great but I don't feel like it is as revolutionary as everyone says. If you don't remember secret of mana was similar except there wasn't a wait bar which does add certain elements of the game making it a little more hard.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 13:07:38 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1235&iddiary=2631Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 12:47:10https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=979I got through the first dungeon and talked to Princess Zelda. I haven't had much time to wander but I am beginning to remember how massive this world is. First of all there seems to be an infinite amount of side quests and what not. This game will never leave you bored because even if you don't feel like going on to the next dungeon you can go and find some other cool thing to do. Another thing I forgot was how massive the dungeons themselves were. After playing the original zelda where the first dungeon was maybe about 10 squares I was a little off guard to find a dungeon bigger than probably the last dungeon of the original. The monsters are also very unique with a little trick to beat them for each. The game also is real-time based meaning the sun sets and rises. This can get a little annoying but it adds a great element to the game and plus you never have to wait too long for the sun to come back up. Right now I'm really hoping I can keep playing this game because I forgot how fun it is.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 12:47:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=979&iddiary=2226Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 00:26:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=979It was so nice to finally get back to three dimensional worlds. The game started well with a pretty cool cut scene that helped show the new ability to play in three demensions that earlier consoles hadn't quite reached. Of course the going was a little slow at the beginning but luckily I had played this game before and knew where the sword and what not were. But I had forgotten how well the controls were used in this game. I don't think as a kid I ever took advantage of all the different things you can use to attack. So far there are about 3 or 4 different ways to attack with the sword. However sometimes the things they give you make the game easy. I'm sure that the game will get harder. I'm still spoiled though by being able to control the camera with another analog stick but you get pretty used to using the z and the up C buttons to change your camera view. The story so far is interesting but then again there are few zelda games that are lacking in story. Getting through the first few cut scenes is a little boring but atleast it is interesting to listen to.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 00:26:22 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=979&iddiary=2139The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 13:41:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=766The Legend of Zelda has only gotten better since my last log. After awhile you don'y get nearly as lost and when you first start the game. Also after getting through a few dungeons and getting a few extra hearts makes it much easier to get around. I am kind of lost right now, I think I went ahead of myself a bit and somehow stumbled upon the sixth level. I think the game would be better if it was a little more clear on what is needed to be done in the game. One great thing about this game are the enemies. The characters in this game are so different from each other yet very similar. Each enemy moves at different speeds and some shoot things that can be blocked by your shield or things that can't be blocked by your shield. The snakes in the second dungeon were cool because anytime they are parallel to Link they rush at him. Another thing about this game that makes it fun is that for the most part the game does not force you to go through really hard areas before you need to. The easiest way to find the first dungeon and just follow the screens that have the easier enemies. It is obvious why this game is a classic. The dungeon design is great along with the great spectrum of enemies you get to fight. There are still a few things that could make this game better such as a little more talking to people so I know atleast where to go sometimes.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 13:41:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=766&iddiary=1773The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Fri, 19 Jan 2007 02:29:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=766The Legend of Zelda is one of the most fun yet frustrating games I've played. First of all there is no map, well there is but it just shows where you are on a blank map. Also, other than where you start there are no safe areas. There are no towns, only caves you can go into to buy items. Just starting off I died several times just looking for some place to go for I had no idea where I was supposed to go. With all the frustrations I still wanted to play the game. Even though i died a few times, I didn't want to put the controller down. One of the reasons I couldn't put it down was because the game is very forgiving when you die. Yes you go back to the beginning but other than that you just hit "continue" and just keep playing. There was no certain number of continues or anything so I felt like I could just go wander and not worry if I died. And also after a little bit you start knowing where things are and of course where all the fairies are that give you full health. Another great thing about the game is that with full health you can throw your sword as many times as you'd like which comes in very handy when killing eight guys on one screen. Overall my first impression is a good one. Even though the game is very challenging, you are given unlimited lives and a cool sword to throw. It is a great balance of fun and challenging gameplay. I might even make it a little easier to start. I could easily see an unseasoned gamer try this game and quickly give up.Fri, 19 Jan 2007 02:29:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=766&iddiary=1701Xenosaga (PS2) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 13:40:56https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=572I'm four hours into Xenosage now and finished the First chapter. The game has gotten a bit more exciting and there re actual fights now. There are still things that are incredibly frustrating such as not being able to change the camera view. There are still things that I enjoy about this game. Right now my mech has an automatic weapon in one hang, a sword in the other, and a rocket launcher on its shoulder. Other than a normal mech game I have not played an RPG where the mech is so customizable. Also the strategy involved in saving AP to use stronger attacks adds a different aspect to the game. So far in the game I have been incredibly bored watching cut scene after cut scene but It looks as if the plot is finally going to lead somewhere and there is going to be a little more action. I blame the large amount of cutscene on the fact that the whole first four hours were introduction. I'm praying that the cutscenes will not be so abundant for a while and that I'll actually get in a few good hours of just pure gameplay.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 13:40:56 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=572&iddiary=1391Xenosaga (PS2) - Fri, 12 Jan 2007 03:29:18https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=572I've had this game sitting around for about four years now. I played Xenogears which was an amazing game but as of right now I'm not that impressed with Xenosaga. I guess I can't say much about the graphics since I'm used to the 360 and PS3 so to say the least, the graphics are alright. I've played the game for a few days now, a few agonizing days of reaching some point of interest in the game. There are so many cut scenes I was ready to turn off the game after the first 20 minute cut scene. Finally after an hour of gameplay it seems like the game is finally about to start. The battle system is somewhat hard to figure out because most of the things you can't read. So far there has been very little story line but hey its just the beginning and I can be a little hopeful.Fri, 12 Jan 2007 03:29:18 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=572&iddiary=1335
