DanielMoine's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=318Super Mario 64 (N64) - Fri, 02 Mar 2007 14:10:43https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1506For the second session of my gaming experience I decided to play in the Lethal Lava Land level. This level is great because the lava restricts you from being able to cross to other areas easily. Another thing I like is that instead of simply dying when you hit the lava Mario jumps into the air grapping his butt. This allows a player to try to navigate himself back onto safe land before all of his life runs out. I decided to get a star by bullying the bullies which I remember was like king of the ring, you simply need to knock them off into the lava. I remember this seemed much harder when I originally played it but I still enjoyed getting this star. The best part about this level is the numerous booby traps and pattern recognition that is necessary to navigate through the level in one piece. This level is a great example of how level designers still created a challenging path to follow even though the level is actually a huge 3d world.Fri, 02 Mar 2007 14:10:43 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1506&iddiary=3170Super Mario 64 (N64) - Fri, 02 Mar 2007 14:10:20https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1506Mario 64 was one of the most revolutionary games of its time and for this very reason I decided to analyze some aspects of its gameplay. The greatest part about this game is even though it may not have the most advanced graphics in comparison to recently released titles it still has many of the components that are essential to creating an exiting game. Apparently Jumping Flash was the first 3d plat former which I happened to receive in a demo CD for my original PS1. Jumping Flash is nothing compared to Super Mario 64 which allows complete freedom of movement and camera angles. I decided to try the Bob-omb Battlefield because I have so many memories attached to the first time that I tried out a level in a 3D world. The greatest part about this game is being able to super jump (trigger and Jump) throughout the levels and get places faster. I did a couple missions to get the easier stars like releasing that huge guy from his chained post. I forgot how fun it was to ride the turtle shell like a skateboard which was by far my favorite experience about this level.Fri, 02 Mar 2007 14:10:20 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1506&iddiary=3169Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:13:07https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1419For my second video game playing session I decided to warp to the lava levels because I remember those were the ones that I had the most trouble with. I played one of the first of the boat levels and I got to battle against the cannons once again. I was watching a video from you tube once and it showed some guy bounce off all of the cannonballs to chain together a link of points. I tried doing this but I could never get myself to link more than four cannonball jumps in a row but it still gave me a significant amount of points. This level was great I felt like I was playing cannonball dodge ball. I also really liked playing against those guys who pop out of the deck and throw hammers into the air. I am glad that I played this level in its entirety and didn’t resort to using a P Wing to cheat my way through.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:13:07 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1419&iddiary=3001Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - Fri, 23 Feb 2007 13:57:24https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1419I decided to play Super Mario Bros 3 for NES because it is one of the all time greatest games. I wanted to start the game from the beginning so that I could once again get the feel for this great plat former. I made sure to get the first whistle as quickly as I could so I could warp to some cool levels. It was great playing against classic enemies like Goombas and the Piranha Plants but they really didn’t pose much of a threat to a player that is accustomed to the difficulty of newly released games. I made sure to fight through the first castle so I could once again use the fire flower and beat down Larry Koopa. I always remember how I would love to run as fast as I could with Mario through every Castle level and try to avoid getting hit once. At the end Princess awarded me handsomely with a P-Wing which I know will come in handy when I play some of the harder levels. I always save the P Wing for the extremely hard lava levels where the cannons keep shooting off, it is always much easier to fly over the top of the whole level.Fri, 23 Feb 2007 13:57:24 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1419&iddiary=2997NBA 2K7 (XBX) - Sun, 11 Feb 2007 23:44:59https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1310I went back to play this game the second time around and I decided it would be fun to use the All- Star teams. I was the Western Conference All- Star team which has one of the best lineups that I have seen in many years. This game flows in ways that other basketball games don’t. I feel like the player actually has to actually imitate how player would actually play in a game to utilize a players skills. I use all of Kobe Bryant’s potential attacking from all angles. I also like using Yao Ming but it does take a little time to get used to trying to attack on offense with a center. I was dominating in this game and brought in some sharpshooters to knock down three pointers. Hitting the jump shot takes some mastering in this game, remember it is important to release the ball a little before the apex of the jump so that the character will have enough time to follow through with his shot. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone that likes sports games. I never cease to be amazed at how realistic this game seems, I actually feel like I am watching a basketball game sometimes. I am going to continue playing this game and reporting any finding or strategies that I develop while playing.Sun, 11 Feb 2007 23:44:59 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1310&iddiary=2800NBA 2K7 (XBX) - Sun, 11 Feb 2007 23:44:40https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1310I played NBA 2k7 on the X BOX 360 console with my friend Adam. We decided to choose two of our favorite teams which were the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. We knew this would be a great match up because it would be fast paced. I chose the Lakers because I knew I could dominate on my friend with Kobe Bryant. I haven’t had this game for very long and am just learning the basics. The iso-motion button in the left trigger and is necessary to hold if you want to juke your opponent. I got off to an early lead but I had a couple too many turnovers because I was trying to complete the alley oop too often. This game is great because when you are playing defense it still proves to be a fun game. I like to use full court pressure when I am on defense because it is real easy to disrupt a pass. I notice that I have to be paying attention at all times or something happens and I turn over the ball. Another feature that I like is that at halftime they have a highlight reel where they go over all of the top performers so far in the game. This is really an interesting feature because it saves all of a certain players best plays from the half and replays them. I got to rub in the fact that I had like ten dunks on my friend since it showed them all on the highlights.Sun, 11 Feb 2007 23:44:40 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1310&iddiary=2799Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:47:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=607I noticed many new things about the level “Into the Depths,” the second time I played it. One new enemy that emerges is a black scorpion alien thing that has a different way of attacking. When I first encountered this new enemy it looked exactly like the other scorpions except they have a new sonic the hedgehog type roll to evade your shots. This makes them a worthy adversary since they can now cover much more ground. Another great part about this level is that your player gets trapped in a circular kind of battle arena that you must blast your way out of. In this room there is tons of ammo so I basically decided to drain any grenades or other ammunition that I had. I would suggest waiting by the platforms that you can see are being raised so that you can surprise your enemy with a couple of shotgun blasts to the face upon arrival. This level is one of the more dimly lit levels in the game so it is necessary to use a flashlight when waking around. This definitely adds to the creepy factor in the game because enemies seem to pop out of nowhere in surprising numbers. This game definitely tests a persons reaction times which makes it a game that you cannot have a lapse of attention while playing. This level is great and I plan on playing it with a harder difficulty soon.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:47:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=607&iddiary=2659Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) - Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:47:12https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=605I noticed many new things about the level “Into the Depths,” the second time I played it. This level starts of fighting with a bunch of those zombies guys and plenty of angels. Supposedly angels are one of the harder characters in the game but the shotgun seems to deal with the sufficiently. Using the seeder is also an effective way to kill anyone who is trying to chase you, all that the player needs to do is leave a trail of bombs that and enemy will inevitably run over. One part that I rally don’t like about this level is that there are so many of those scorpion pod things which you cant even destroy. If you don’t want to get sneak attacked you can just walk up and anticipate their pounce out of the pod shell and have their face meet the end of your barrel. This level is huge and enemies come from every direction. One thing I like about the AI in this game is that they will bombard you with grenades if the know what your position is. It really gave me a sense of anxiety like they were actually trying to blast me out of my position. This level is a great example of how fast paced Resistance: Fall of Man can really be.Fri, 09 Feb 2007 14:33:20 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=607&iddiary=2655Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:10:51https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1052When I went back to play GTA San Andreas for my second round I wanted to make sure that it would be a memorable experience. I decided to play one of my favorite missions which was Ryders mission called Robbing Uncle Sam. I really liked this level because it was very challenging. I had to maintain many things if I wanted to complete this mission. I had to juggle helping Ryder stay alive, load up the truck, and fight off soldiers who were trying to kill me. I like the first part where you have to cap the first soldier after you jump the fence. After you do this all hell breaks loose as you have to load up the truck as quickly ass possible. The forklift has some funky rear wheel steering which adds another challenge to the robbery. I chose to use my MP5 to suppress any attacks by the soldiers. Half of the fun about this mission is getting the big van back to the lockout while avoiding being killed. This game gives me anxiety when I was being chased by the computer. You know a game is good if you actually jump out of your seat when you are finally arrive and the chase stops. This is the last Ryder mission so I think the creators attempted to make this on of the more difficult levels. I thought that having to juggle so many things within this actual mission kept it extremely exciting. This is by far one of the deepest and most difficult missions in the entire game.Wed, 31 Jan 2007 14:10:51 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1052&iddiary=2252
