SHgamer916's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=520Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (XBX) - Wed, 05 Mar 2008 22:40:39https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3034GAMEPLAY It was lot more fun playing this game for the second tim because when I first played it I was having a lot of trouble moving my character, aiming and shooting, learning all the buttons, how to jack a car, how to mount a bike, how to run, and punch, kick and fight. In the second session I definitly mastered these tasks the second session and I thoroughly enjoyed playing. I maintained my character very well, my gang forced me to go get my haircut so that I could be seen around them as well as buying clothes to match theirs, our gang color was green and our rivals was purple. GAME DESIGN I thought some very innovative elements of this game were the extremely open and free flow game world. The options for activity while you play this game are so numerous you can play it over and over. I thought that the graphics were pretty realistic, they were colorful and interesting. The games not really a level based game, but I would consider the citites you can drive to in your car to be compared to levels. The game is set of to very realistically resemble cities across the U.S. In San Andreas you can visit various cities that are mock-LA and mimicing and Las Vegas. The games relatable realism is a huge factor that contributes to the addictiveness of the game. The presence of conflict is huge in Grand Theft Auto. The game is based on missions that often get your character into a firefight on the streets of LA. Rival gang shootings and killings. Drive byes and car jackings are the basis of this game. The multiple activities and the diversity of storylines, this game is a moment to moment narrative that makes the player want to see what happens next. I love the reward system of this game. Resource managment includes Money, and Player maintenance in the game is represented by Stats which consist of Muscle,Endurance, Fat, Respect, Sex Appeal. All of which can be increased by participating in various acitivties throughout the day, Fat goes up if you dont lover is by going to the gym and increasing Muscle. Running on the street can increase your Endurance as well as Respect goes higher as you complete various gang and mob missions, Sex Appeal can be raised in this game you have a girlfriend.Wed, 05 Mar 2008 22:40:39 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3034&iddiary=5730Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas (XBX) - Wed, 05 Mar 2008 19:46:15https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3032SUMMARY In this game you play a former gangster who's just moved back to his old neighborhood. The objec tis to complete missions for members high up in the gang world heirarchy or mob bosses. Completing missions as well as maintaining your character's gang status, sex appeal, fat, muscle, and respect are crucial. If you choose not to follow the missions the extremely open gameworld allows you to aimlessly take part in many activities. GAMEPLAY Playing this game is very exciting most of the time. Staying in your own gangs territory is imperative because if you dont you often encounter the opposing gangs is very unhappy with this fact and shows up with guns blazing on you and your crew with cars and gang members on foot making sure you know not to come into their territory again. The characters in this game are very unique I have never played a game that embodies the "gangster" lifestyle and represents it so well. The characters are very realistic looking and as your character's stats show working out, being appealing to women, looking good, and having respect are all very important. The games story is not too important to me I enojy wandering in the gameworld where I can get my hair cut, shop for clothes, go to strip clubs, take taxi's, fight fires and respond to crimes if I car jack a firetruck or a cop car. This game is very interesting to play because of the options for game play that are available, mini missions, aimless wandering, or completing missions earning money and participating in gang activity. Social interaction in this game is the highest level I have experienced because there are so many pedestrians, store clerks, cops, firefighters, strippers, hookers, gang members all that are available for interaction. I loved the fact that I could shoot, hit, or talk to any person I saw or wanted to interact with (This entry has been edited1 time. I enjoyed learning how to handle the turns and learning the track to help me go faster through the track with less impairment. I did end up falling off the edge of a track while I was on one of the car racing tracks. I fell of the side of a bridge into the water, and surprisingly instead of placing me back on the track automatically I had to figure out a way to get my self out of the water by driving up the sides of the walls back onto the path. Diddy Kong is made to be a racing adventure game because the tracks are on unique tracks, not a paved track but tracks that are on the sand, in the air, in lava etc. If you play single player game the adventure aspect is intensified because on single player the individual can drive around and explore involving new tracks and challenges. DESIGN I really liked the new aspect of Diddy Kong game that provided the players with the choice between a plane, a boat, and a car. That surprised me and just added the challenge to master a new set of skills on totally different kinds of tracks. The graphics of the game are not very good, very geometric but they have the traditional look of the mario cart and other Donkey Kong games. The flow of racing games has gotten better due to the improvement of graphics after this game. The game lacks the advantage of conflict and the intensity that it brings, the conflict between the two racers is the only conflict present. The colors and the music and the look of the characters makes the tone of the game very happy, and relaxed, a fun game to play. The use of space in the game world is not very good considering that the players can only travel on the designed track and in designed areas. There is no free range of the track. The game is a racing game and gave me a few ideas for my won game banana slug racers. The Diddy Kong racing allows varying mediums on the tracks, air, earth, and water, and it ends the race of the other players when one completes his first three laps. I did not like this game over all, after playing mario kart and Diddy Kong Diddy Kong seems so much more primitive and is a lot less entertaining.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 22:46:57 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2762&iddiary=5187Diddy Kong Racing (N64) - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 22:16:34https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2762SUMMARY Diddy Kong is racing game that players can choose characters such as a lizard, and fox. The players depending on which course you choose fly either a hovercraft, a car, or a plane. Players race through the courses, land, or air catching balloons that are power-ups, the bananas that give more points, and there are red arrow speed boosts on the track. The players race around the track for three laps, you can play up to four players, and whichever player that finishes before the others the race of the others is stopped declaring "Did Not Finish" in a banner of defeat. GAMEPLAY While playing this game for the first session I enjoyed that variation in craft and track that changed with a boat, car, and plane. The plane was a nice change of pace to race in a three dimensional world. I struggled a little with the three dimensional flying, it made it difficult to travel faster, and precisely through the track. I liked the speed boosts on the track which are only on a certain spot on the track so you have to try to hit them. I didnt like that if I ran into anything like a wall, or a tree that it took a while for your character to regain speed, and get back on track. I got pretty bored with the game as I played for longer. The widest variety of choices and options is in the players choice of character. I didnt like that there were very few tracks to choose to race on, and that the three laps are very simple tracks that don't provide a lot of challenges for those racing . While playing the game I like the competitive aspect of the game with racing and trying to beat your time as well as your friends in the race.Wed, 20 Feb 2008 22:16:34 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2762&iddiary=5180NHL 07 (360) - Tue, 12 Feb 2008 18:01:01https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2615Summary My second game play experience showed me alot more similarities between real hockey, and this game.It follows the same rules as a real-life hockey game, such as no offsides, penalties for fighting or slashing, and one point for every goal. An exception to the gameworld rules is that you have the ability to control every player on your team and who they pass to. I loved the ability to play as multiple players, instead of depending on a teammate as in a real game you have to rely on your own skill. DESIGN This game is wonderful it is design. The rinks that are unique to each team, depending on home or away, and the ability to choose uniform color was so cool. It gives the teams you are so farmiliar with a new edition that is all your own. The graphics on this game are remarkable, a very responsive game to hockey fans. The crowd that can cheer you on, hassle the refs, or boo at your team heighten the atmosphere. There are the retired players, and awards posted all voer the arenas just like at real rinks of these teams. I loved the character you can pick to play as because they are unique to each team, and modeled after real players. The coaches and other teammates aren't disreguarded when it comes to importance in game design either. The people on the other team as wella s on the rink are as well developed and given as much detail to look real life. I thoroghly enjoyed playing this game although it takes a short time to develop the skills and comfortability with the game, the time pays off in a great experience.Tue, 12 Feb 2008 18:01:01 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2615&iddiary=4964NHL 07 (360) - Mon, 11 Feb 2008 17:42:45https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2615SUMMARY Being a major hockey fan myself, I was pretty excited for another excuse to play some more hockey. NHL 08 is the perfect game for beginners, hockey fans, and those interested in an intense, fast paced, realistic hockey game. Its a multiplayer game, that can even be played on X-Box live, intensifying the competition furthermore. GAMEPLAY Already knowing the rules to a hockey game is a definite advantage, especially when playing against those who have never played. Though as a first time player of this game I quickly grew frustrated with trying to memorize the different controls on how to operate my players. It takes a lot of patience and focus to be able to move your players around effectively and efficiently. I kept getting offsides called on me, which quickly grew old after the twentieth time. But nevertheless, I continued playing which ended up paying off when I beat a guy friend in a whopping 3-0. NHL 08 is an extremely competitive game, especially when your a girl kicking everyones ass. Like Super Smash Bros, it draws the attention of bystanders, further building up the excitement of the outcome. I really appreciated the games wide variety of teams to choose from, specifically the international league, which includes every country that hosts a national team. This option put us in some funny predicaments, such as when I played my Russian friend, who picked Russia as I was Poland. We agreed that the winner of the game would settle the dispute as to which country actually invented Vodka. Unfortunately I had lost 4-1. (This entry has been edited1 time. The players choose their character out of well known characters such as the Mario brothers Mario and Luigi, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Donkey Kong. After choosing your character the player can pick which "course" he would like to battle on. All of the courses are floating landscapes, for example the top of a spaceship floating in outterspace, or a jungle-type landscape suspended in the air. The object of the game is to use your own powers to take all the lives of your opponents lives until they die. GAMEPLAY I really enjoyed playing this game during the first session. This game is pretty simple, each character has a few powers to use against the other characters. Learning the combinations to amplify your powers to use against the other players was a great tool after i learned that it was very helpful in defeating my opponents. I really liked the fact that there is multiple sets that you can play on. The variety and realistic look of all the courses make playing the game multiple times enjoyable. I do wish that the sets were larger. The limited space to play the game in hindered me, especially in the fact that i kept falling off the edge, therefore killing my character multiple times. Session #2 This time with a little more experience i got a feel for the game a lot more. The lack of variety of characters is frustrating because it seemed that some characters had better specialties and powers than the other characters. This game is enjoyable but very predicatble and not too enjoyable to play for too long. I like the fct that the computer drops specialty tools to allow you an advantage in skill over the other characeters. I like the fact that we can change the location of the battles, but the locations are very limiting in the ablilty of the players to avoid attacks and stradgize for others. This game is not too enticing mentally, there isnt really to much stradegy that can be involved but some is helpful for winning. The game reminds me of my childhood when i did play it. I think this game really is a classic it can be enjoyed by players of all levels and skill levels, (This entry has been edited1 time. GAMEPLAY: Second time around I decided to up the difficulty and switch the level of play to MEDIUM. I was extremely intimidated at first but quickly began to enjoy the challenge. The faster speed made me more anxious and embarassed when I missed a note, but even more excited after nailing a difficult combination. I found that playing songs I was farmiliar with helped me to find the rythmn of the song easier and therefore strum more accurately. Guitar Hero is so addicting, there is the challege of a new song, or beating your old score on a favorite. Playing with my friends who have so much more experience than me made me to nervous, I am extremely competative and hate to fail but practice is key when it comes to Guitar Hero. I swallowed my pride and continued playing even when i was kicked off a song or missed multiple notes and found that I have improved alot from only playing during very few sittings. I really like that aspect of the game that keeps track of how many correct notes the player hits in a row, and if you hit rnough notes in a row the game recognizes it and you can play in Star Power mode which turns all the notes blue which I found did make it a little harder for me to distinguish between them but the Star Power mode doubles your points. Another thing I had to get used to playing this game was learning where to place my fingers on the right keys without looking which is a key skill needed if I am going to succeed, but after playing for a while it became so much easier and I was doing a lot better. I also had to learn to look at the whole bar of running notes instead of one note at a time, concentration and practice are needed for Guitar Hero and I am learning fast. Mon, 14 Jan 2008 21:20:04 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1850&iddiary=3634Guitar Hero 3 (360) - Sun, 13 Jan 2008 01:21:32https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1644SUMMARY: Guitar Hero III is an advanced version of the previous game Guitar Hero I & II. This game lets players choose famous rocks songs to play and perform. Matching colored buttons on the screen with strumming and pressing the color coordinated button on the guitar game piece they player must match the rythmn and timing of the song. Strumming and pressing the button in time with the music and button combinations gives the player points and makes the notes of the song. If the player misses a note on the screen the song being played also misses that note. GAMEPLAY: I am not an experienced gamer, playing Guitar Hero III was one of my first video game experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. The graphics are very realistic and sophisticated. Depending on what song the player chooses the graphics change to match the lead singer with the lead singer of the actual band. I enjoy "playing" real songs, and seeing the real band member on the screen. When a player first starts a new band they get to choose their own character, what they wear, which guitar they play, and their gender. I liked the options for your character and the ability for the player to make a character exactly how they imagine. As a Guitar Hero novice i found the game pretty challenging, timing of hitting the buttons as well strumming in unison is key and hard to get used to. Playing more of guitar hero will help me to improve but many time i got kicked off of a song. If the player misses too many notes they will get kicked off the song, depending on the players skill the band they have created will earn more money or less, and get to perform encores if they do good or get kicked off stage is they fail.
