thirdfloor329's GameLogBlogging the experience of gameplayhttps://www.gamelog.cl/gamers/GamerPage.php?idgamer=695Wii Sports (Wii) - Sat, 26 Jan 2008 02:33:22https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2234Gamelog #1 Summary Wii Sport is a collection of competitive mini game, which contains bowling, boxing, gold, tennis and baseball. The motion sensitive Wii remotes help players to feel like they are playing the actual sports. Player’s responds get reflected as the character’s motion in the game. Each player will score different points at the end of the game that corresponds to the skill level they are in. Player can also create he or her own special character that represent them and invite their family or friends to join the competition by adding up to 4 remote control total. Gameplay When I first experience the Wii, I was very impressed with what this game can offer to the player. Player can make their distinctive “mii” character from scratch. There are also a lot of variations provided in the facial or hair element that allow people to choose from. It takes a while to make an ideal character because there are just so many specific details that I can put on my character. Unlike other RPG or computer games like Sims that also has the same ability, Wii is better than all of them because it really allows you to create a character that resembles what you have in mind. The first game that I played in Wii Sports is tennis. Although the graphic is very cartoon, the sound of the tennis ball and the sensitivity of the remote control create the feeling that it is like an actual game. It is also interesting to see such a 3D graphic appear in the screen correspond to your motion. The second game I played is golf and personally I didn’t like it as much as tennis. The instructions are a little bit more complicated than the other games and also it requires a lot of patient to successfully complete the game. However, it is also very realistic due to the fact that you can only play best when you hold the remote like you are holding the club in golf. I have also played baseball and bowling. I love how the baseball game allows you to choose different types of pitches when pitching and swing the control like an actual bat. Although I am not a baseball fan, I can imagine how interesting it will be for the actual fan to play this game. Bowling was way easier compare to the other mini games and it only requires the player to swing and releases the triggered button at the right time in order to release the ball. I have a feeling that I can easily play the games with my friends for hours and even teach my parents to play as well. Gamelog #2 Gameplay In the second gameplay session, I finally have a chance to play boxing in Wii Play. I love how the cartoon replace the bloodiness that boxing usually have and I appreciate how it tries to make the game more friendly by switching the graphic from a realistic point of view to a cartoon point of view. Out of all the other sports, boxing requires the most energy. The player has to consistently move the Wii remote and the nunchuk to punch the computer player. It also allows player to block the punches by blocking the face of the character. Whenever you have successfully punched the computer character, part of their health is being reduced. The higher level you are at, the faster the computer player will heal by himself. The location where you have punched is also important because it determines how much health is being deducted each time. I also played the whole game with my friends in order to experience the multiplayer mode of the game. Boxing and Tennis are the 2 games that allow you to compete with your friends side by side. It is really fun to see their direct expressions each time when I hit the ball or swing a bunch. The other games such as golf, bowling and baseball doesn’t allow multiple players to play at the same time and instead it takes turn for each player to play. It is less fun than the other games because of you have to wait for each turn and sometimes a turn can takes a while depending of the game. I have also introduced Wii to my mom just to test her reaction. She really likes the bowling and it is always fun to see a non-gamer’s reaction. The overall directions for the game is very clear that it won’t cost too much trouble for any non-gamer to start. Design Wii Sports is a game that especially designs for people in many ages. The cartoon like graphic of the game creates a friendly approach. The game also uses the space very well and has specific details in each setting. It uses all the “miis” as the other bowling players or audiences in the background. By doing so, it also creates the idea of “mii” community that your friends or family are watching you as you play. The invention of this motion sensitive sports game allows players to play their favor sports at anytime regardless of the weather or the difficulties to gather enough players. The mii that has different levels and maybe your friend’s look can simply act as the computer player. Each game is also giving simple directions with moving figures that show what the player has to do. The simple instructions allow non-gamers to easily grasp on the idea of the game. The downside of the game is that it does not contain any adventurous element that encourages players to keep playing. After repeatedly playing the same sports for a while, player can easily get bored by the expected reaction from the computer player and stop the game. For game players who value realistic visual effect, this game will not be a good choose either. A high score in any of the sports does not reflect your actual ability in them. It only reflects how well you understand the game’s sensitivity to different actions. Also, the control reflects different amount of sensitivity in different game. In the case of baseball, it is difficult to hit the ball even you swing it at the correct position. On the other hand, you may randomly punch the other player in boxing, but for some reason, you achieve the successful hit at the head. The game is easy to learn, but it is difficult to master in it because of these elements.Sat, 26 Jan 2008 02:33:22 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2234&iddiary=4336Cooking mama : cook off (Wii) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 03:38:47https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1893Second Session Game Play Like many Wii games, cooking mama also provide two different game modes. The game mode that differ this version from the NDS version is the Friends and Food mode. It allows two player to play the game at the same time using the two differnt split screeen. This causes a lot more excitment and allows friends to compete and connect with each other through cooking the same recipe. I had a great time trying to win over my housemate during the processes of making the same dish. It is much more fun than playing by myself during the first hour. It is also ironic from time to time because a player with actual cooking experience can lose to a player without any cooking experience. It also gets frustrated whenever the remote fail to preform as well as the i wish. It is hard to adjust how fast we spin or shake the remote in different task in order to complete the minitest within the given amount of time. It is difficult to gain a gold metal and it require no necessary brain power, but how well you can control the remote. After playing it for a while, I feel that i have enough cooking experiences with using cooking mama and I also feel the snore in my arms. Overall, it is a fun game to play with friends especially if you are interested in cooking. Different processes allow players to have a general idea in the making of various world famous dish. It also makes you feel like a great chief with the encouragement a player receive from the game after each success. Design This game give the player a very cartoon and fantasy feeling by using pink or baby blue as the background color. However, it is also very surprising to notice how similar each step and the tools that are used in each processes compare to real life cooking experience. The sound effect are also very similar to the real world such as the chopping board sound when you are cutting vegetables, the boiling sound of water when you are cooking pasta, or even the sound of breaking an egg. The graphic they have with the food items are also very realistic. The game offers a similar visual cooking experience as real life cooking with cartoon looking kitchen and background music. One of this game's good element is that you can stop after each recipe, but players who are looking for a more realistic story will be disappointed. Also, the one player mode is very upsetting because players are often competing with different computer players who are expert in their specific recipe. It is diffcult to achieve the perfection that the computer player have. Due to the lack of events happen throughout the game, the players can get bored from making different recipes after a long period of time. Also, the name "cooking mama" discourages male players and causes the impression that the game of cooking is a game for females only. Overall it is a fun game for everyone to play because it doesn't require any actual cooking skills and it allows peopel to explore the fun in cooking.Tue, 15 Jan 2008 03:38:47 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1893&iddiary=3800Cooking mama : cook off (Wii) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 01:32:10https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1893Summary "Cooking mama: cook off" allows player to experience the cooking processes in different recipes by using the wii. Player can choose different recipes that represent many traditional food such as curry, spaghetti, dim sum, pizza, etc. Each step is presented as minigames that allow player or players to compete for higher scores as well as a metal after completion of each dish. Gameplay The cartoon, colorful presentation of different cooking processes encourages player to continue all the steps in order to finish the dish. "Excellent!" Cooking Mama cheerfully said after completion of each step. The game provides instructions that minic actual cooking steps and teach players how to chop vegetables, opening can, stiring eggs, etc, with the use of wii control. However, the sensitivity of the contol is unpredictable. Sometimes the control is so sensitive that it can lead to a burned omelet and yet sometimes you need to put a lot of effort to simply mix the ingredients together. So far, the game has caught my interest to repeat recipes to make more wonderful dishes.Tue, 15 Jan 2008 01:32:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1893&iddiary=3702
