Once I got the hang of the game I couldn’t stop playing. I really enjoyed this game it’s much more fun when played with a friend than by yourself. I liked playing with a friend because its much more challenging and competitive. I like competing with someone besides the computer. The experience was interesting and fun. I liked receiving both the rewards of glory and of sustenance. The rewards of sustenance helps the player advance and it gives the player the ability to win. I liked that the player could choose from a variety of racing tracks. All the racing tracks were fun to race on. Design: I thought the design of the race tracks were very well thought out and created. I liked the themes of each one and the obstacles that each one portrayed. There were some where the player had to race in the snow, sewer, under water tunnel, desert, or up on a high leveled ground. I liked the one that was up in the clouds. It was challenging when turning because you had to go slow or you can fall off and keep you behind in the race. Each level had obstacles the sewer level had big logs that would go back and fourth and the player has to get trough without getting smashed. One of the other levels had carnivorous plants and if the player got to close to the plant it would chew them up and spit them back out. There was one race track that had fire and lava. The player had to get to the other side without getting burned. These are only a few of the many obstacles each level had. I think that by adding these obstacles to the levels it creates conflict which makes the game challenging. I like challenge when playing a game it makes the game much more fun and enjoyable. This game has a pleasurable experience that keeps the player engaged. Also by having the rewards of glory and sustenance it keeps the player going.Sun, 02 Mar 2008 16:51:40 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2950&iddiary=5556Crash Bandicoot (PS) - Sun, 02 Mar 2008 16:49:06https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2950Summary: In Crash Team Racing there are many racers and it’s either a one player or a two player that race against each other and the computer. The goal of the game is to get to the finish line before the other racers without staying behind. There are rewards of sustenance and glory. There are a set of four boxes that the racers can get and they each contain something different. Some give the player TNT boxes they can leave behind for the other racers to go through it which will keep them from progressing. The boxes also contain other resources that will make the racer go faster therefore advance and even win the race. Game Log Entry #1: Game Play: The first time I played Crash it was difficult for me to control the racer and to keep the racer out of TNT boxes or any other trouble. I tried wining, but I couldn’t keep up with the other players. When I played this game I played with another person which knew how to play so I tried learning from them. One of the tracks had a secret short cut where the players would go through and would advance in the game. I learned how to open the short cut which helped me to get closer to the finish line. I liked racing the other players. It was interesting to learn the different techniques the player can do to get closer and closer to the finish line. I liked learning from the other player what you can do and how to get out of a certain situation. I learned to get out of a TNT box so it won’t explode on the racer. Once I learned these things I was able to play better. (This entry has been edited1 time. I didn’t really like this level of the game I think I probably would have liked one of the other levels instead of the battle field level. I got bored because I didn’t think it was that challenging. I personally didn’t like this level very much. I think it would have been better if it were more complicated not too much, but a little more challenge would have made this level more interesting for me. I did get interact with others. I got to interact with the other player to try to figure out the game and the rules. We both tried to figure out what each button on the control did. Neither of us had played this game before, so we got to figure out how we were suppose to fight each other and what buttons to press. I think it’s more fun when you play with others, but I think it also depends on the game. Design: The design of this game was creative. I did like how there were ways to get from the ground to the top level where the watermelons were. There were platforms on the ground and when the player stands on it they press Z on their control and it takes u directly to the top to get the watermelons. I think that there should have been more of an open area to fight. When I tried fighting with my opponent it was hard to find her because there were many places were she could be. There were noises of people booing and shouting, but there wasn’t anybody around. These sound effects were part of the game and they would occur when the players would be fighting each other. After awhile this got a little annoying because I didn’t see anyone there I just heard the noise and it was very repetitive. I would have made some changes to this game. I would have made the game a little bit more challenging, the battle field more open and I would have added a visible audience. The conflicts that I thought existed was the fact that there were many places were the player can go which just makes the game long and after awhile boring. Also the many chances the player has to live and restore their lives. I like that there were rewards to collect because that mostly always keeps the player going if there weren’t any rewards the player might loose interest.Thu, 21 Feb 2008 00:55:42 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2840&iddiary=5296Donkey Kong 64 (N64) - Thu, 21 Feb 2008 00:49:26https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2836Summary: In Donkey Kong there is various levels to choose from. One can play with more then one player. The level I decided to play with my friend was Kings battlefield. My friend and I had to battle each other we both get three lives and there are watermelons that give the player more life. The basic goal is to stay alive and defeat the other player. Game Log Entry #1: Gameplay: While playing this game I was frustrated and confused. I was frustrated because the other player kept leaving the battle field and avoiding the battle. It just took long to try to kill the other player because there was a way to restore life and it just prolonged the game. The characters were interesting because of the different methods each one had of fighting like the girl that fought with her hair, the monkeys that swaged their tails, the others threw punches and there were many more that had different ways of fighting. I liked the characters and their different ways of fighting. This game was confusing at first because at the first battle field we chose there were some sort of monsters that came out of no where. The other player and I both tried to defeat the monster without falling off. We decided to change the battle field and when we were there we waited for the monsters to come out, but then we realized that we had to fight each other. There were tricks we figured out on our own without reading the rules or instructions. We figured out how to get to the top part of the game where the watermelons were to restore our lives.Thu, 21 Feb 2008 00:49:26 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2836&iddiary=5290Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) - Sat, 09 Feb 2008 01:28:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2545Game Log Entry #2: Gameplay: The second time I played Sonic it was an even better experience because after practicing I was able to pass the second level. I liked that there was a challenge because if it were easy then I would have gotten bored. When I had to face the obstacles this time it was easier for me to defeat them. I played by myself I did not play with any other players. There are certain games where I like playing with others and there are others where I prefer playing by myself. Sonic is the kind of game I like playing by myself. I enjoy it more, I really get into it when I play it by myself. I think that overall this game is a good game because of all the different challenges and the design of the game. Design: The design of the game was good because it was created well. I liked the different loops and the tunnels where the players go through. The way they design the background was also a good element of this game. The background was nature with trees and waterfalls. The sound is another good element because it just keeps you interested it’s not too annoying or too slow it’s just right. The way they reward you with rings and points when you kill the animals is one way to keep the player interested. The conflicts also keep the player interested because they will try anything to pass and move on to the next level. The game creates conflict because there are animals and thorns that you have to pass in order to get to the next level. I don’t think there’s anything that I would change about this game because it had good design and conflict elements.Sat, 09 Feb 2008 01:28:37 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2545&iddiary=4794Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) - Sat, 09 Feb 2008 00:15:37https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2519Summary: In Sonic The Hedgehog there are many obstacles that you have to go through. The player has to avoid the animals that sting, pinch and bite him. They go trough the game collecting rings and if they kill the animals they get points. Game Log Entry #1: Gameplay: While playing the second level I felt frustrated because I could not get trough a certain spot. I had to jump from one place to another and when I tried it, I fell and lost a life. I got frustrated not being able to pass that spot to go to the next level. Although it is not easy to pass, I think it is a good thing that they challenge you. If there were no challenges or conflicts in the game it would not be fun. There would be no point to the game. The player has to be engaged and if they have to keep trying to pass the level they will, because they want to be able to beat the computer. I know that is what I felt when I could not pass the level. I think this game was fun to play I like beating the animals and collecting the rings. I like going through the loops and going to the next level. I like when I can actually get trough the obstacles without getting killed. Being able to overcome each challenge made feel good. I think it’s just a matter of getting use to. Once I got the hang of it I liked it more and also because I took my time to try to win and I got close. I liked going through each challenge when playing the mini-game. Although this game seems like it’s for kids, it is a pretty fun game to play. It’s all a matter of getting the hang of it. Also if you play with others besides yourself then it makes it more fun. This time I played with a friend and it made the game more interesting. I liked playing with a friend because I got to interact with others besides the computer. Overall this is a good game to play it’s just a matter of who you play with and how much patience you have to go through each level. Design: The characters of this game are well designed some are creative. Some of the themes of the game look like a little kids game. They have some sort of simplicity in a way. The designs of the mini-games are creative how the characters race on a track that’s high up in the sky. I thought that was pretty creative. The game creates conflict when you have to face the monster called browser. There is also a baby browser that takes your coins. The other conflicts the players go through are when playing the mini-games if you loose you might move down from first place to second or whatever place you are at. The part that was frustrating of the game was the amount of levels you had to go through, it was just frustrating because it took so long to get to the end of the game.Sat, 26 Jan 2008 00:18:27 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2226&iddiary=4217Mario Party (N64) - Sat, 26 Jan 2008 00:17:09https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2226Summary: Mario Party 2 is like a board game because there are four players that have to move a space depending on what number they get. They first choose a player by each spinning a number which ever one is highest they go first, from highest to lowest. Every time the player reaches a spot they either get their coins taken away or they gain coins. Once all the players have had their turn there is a mini-game that all four play either a two on two, three on one, or all against all. The player has to collect coins and try to get stars. Game Play: I was excited to play and find out more about this game since I had never played it. The beginning was interesting the little story the characters tell and how they try to come up with a name. It was interesting trying to learn the rules in the game. The characters are interesting they all portray different characteristics. A good example would be Luigi which seems more like the leader and Donkey Kong seems like the tough competitive one. Some of the characters are also annoying as some points. I liked playing at the beginning of the game it was fun. I like the different themes they have for you to choose from and how the game is like a board game. I also like that it has mini-games in between the game itself. But one of the things I did not like was that it took too long. I think the reason why it took too long was because it had 20 turns. If I would have put a lower number of turns then I think I would have liked it better. Another reason why I disliked this game was because I played it by myself. It was pretty boring playing with just the computer as the opponents. I think that if I played it with others it would definitely be a much better experience.Sat, 26 Jan 2008 00:17:09 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=2226&iddiary=4216Phase (Other) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 03:30:02https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1941Game play: The second time I played Phase I was more relaxed. I found out that if you’re calm and patient you are able to hit more notes. I got into the game more the second time because I liked the feeling of accomplishing each level. It feels good to pass each level and be able to go to the next and actually finishing the song before loosing. I think this is a good game to play its interesting and the feeling while playing feels good. This game was challenging for me because I’m not good at playing games, but it feels good to be able to pass the levels. I like that you can play to the song that you like I felt good to be able to play one of my favorite songs. Learning to play one of my favorite songs made me feel good. Design: The colors and the themes they use make this a good game. There are many themes in this game that make it fun. The fact that you are learning how to play your favorite song makes it fun. The only conflict was being able to hit each note. The structure of the game was well made. The game keeps the player interested because you just want to be able to pass the level and the song. It makes you want to accomplish each level so you just keep trying until you reach your goal. I think that it shows dedication. Tue, 15 Jan 2008 03:30:02 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1941&iddiary=3796Phase (Other) - Tue, 15 Jan 2008 02:47:27https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=1932Summary: Phase is similar to Guitar Hero the player has to hit each note every time it passes by. You get to choose the song of your choice to play to. The notes pass by depending on the beat of the song. If the beat of the song is fast then the notes go by fast. The goal is to hit every note that passes by. Game play: While playing this game I felt frustrated because I couldn’t hit every note. I liked feeling the high adrenaline. It feels good to move at a fast paste, but at the same time I didn’t like that I missed the notes. It was my first time playing this game and I really enjoyed it. This game was very fun to play it made me concentrate. In order to be able to hit each note I had to really pay attention because if you miss one note then it makes it more complicated to be able to hit the next one. It’s even more complicated if the song has a fast paste. I didn’t notice the characters around me because I was so into trying to hit the notes. The scenes change every time you play a different song or you restart. The scenes could be in space, country and many other places.
