During my last play I was stuck for about a half hour trying to figure out what I needed to do after I dodged all of the cameras and made my way into the cafeteria. I figured they would have to plant bombs but I missed the part that said they were in the trunk of his car, so I wandered through the cafeteria aimlessly clicking no tables. So for my last play I made it to the part where they give you access to all your weapons and you go on a killing spree. I wasn't sure exactly what my goal was at this point so I just went from room to room killing just anyone. I never bothered to go back to my trunk and recharging myself so I ended up being killed by a trio of janitors. After all my hours of playing, I still support my original argument that this game should never have been made. I'm all for freedom of speech but in this context I can't imagine that the makers had good intentions. Just like you can't scream fire in a movie theater in the absence of a fire, you should not be able to exercise that freedom by making games such as this either.Wed, 05 Nov 2008 14:09:15 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3437&iddiary=6528Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Wed, 05 Nov 2008 00:52:44https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3437The more I play this game the more I believe it was created strictly as satire. I remember hearing about people blaming the events on entertainment. I remember them blaming shooters such as Doom, but most prominently I remember them using Marilyn Manson's music as the prime suspect. When I started the game off last time I picked up a Marilyn Manson CD in the basement before I left but I never really thought anything of it after that. Once I finally got to the point where you could equip your guns, I noticed that the Marilyn Manson CD could be equipped in your accessory slot. Just the idea that it could be equipped as an piece of gear was ridiculous, but then I also noticed it gives that character an absurd stat boost. This game is clearly making fun of how much the blame was put into music. So next time you head out to the shooting range, be sure to put some hateful music in your back pocket.Wed, 05 Nov 2008 00:52:44 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3437&iddiary=6476Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Sun, 02 Nov 2008 13:20:29https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3437I started taking offense to this game as soon as Eric gets out of bed. The creators took one of the most horrible things, the Columbine Massacre, and one of the greatest things, 16-bit Japanese RPGs and combine them into one forbidden entity. On one hand, the game is educational. I'm sure there are many people that know what the Columbine Massacre was but don't really know any of the back-story and never truly thought about what happened and how we can prevent these types of things from happening in the future. This goes for me as well, by the time I'm done playing this game I'm sure I'll have an entirely different perspective on the events than I had before I played the game. On the other hand, this game could lighten up some people's view on the event because it presents it in a way that players can get attached to the characters and feel like they went through the same struggles in a light-hearted sort of way. Even though this can be used to increase awareness, it's still one of those situations where the good out-ways the bad, so I believe this game should never have been made.Sun, 02 Nov 2008 13:20:29 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3437&iddiary=6427Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2) - Mon, 06 Oct 2008 11:47:00https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400I think the big question to ask once you finally turn off the game and return to your real life is, if you're making all these kinds of immoral choices in game does that mean you'd make these same choices in real life if they had no consequences? When a random pedestrian walks in front of your car in the game, you might run him over because he's in your way and preventing you from achieving your objective. In real life, if you were driving to work and the same thing happened would you run him over because he's preventing you from achieving your objective of getting to work on time? What is that prevents you from doing so, is it that you wouldn't want to damage your car and get thrown in jail or is that you do believe it's morally wrong to harm another human being? It's interesting to look at what life could be like with no consequences.Mon, 06 Oct 2008 11:47:00 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400&iddiary=6397Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2) - Mon, 06 Oct 2008 09:24:30https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400Today I decided to actually take on some real missions. I could tell from the start my only reason for existence in this world was to bring more chaos into the already disfunctional city. One of my objectives was to go buy pizza to advance the story line, but I soon found out I couldn't afford it since I had spent all my money transforming my plain hair into jerry curls. As a result I was forced to run over a few hookers to earn enough cash. Reading this back to myself makes it sound awful. This is something that I would clearly never do in real life. Anyone with even the smallest amount of good morals would never even consider this as the solution to getting pizza money, but in the game all the thoughts of considering anyone but your gangster self are tossed out the window.Mon, 06 Oct 2008 09:24:30 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400&iddiary=6383Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas (PS2) - Sun, 05 Oct 2008 19:17:05https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400If there's any game that makes our world look a thousand times cleaner than it actually is it's Grand Theft Auto. GTA takes every flaw our society has and blows it completely out of proportion to the point where you don't feel bad about anything you've done in your life. The best place to get a healthy dose of reality potentially relating to ethical issues is on the radio, so before taking on any missions I wasn't forced to I quickly got into a car, ran over a few cyclists and starting flipping through radio stations. I tuned into WCTR and eventually stumbled upon the perfect example of Utilitarianism. One of the callers on the talk radio show suggested that smoking had an overall beneficial effect on the greater good of the world. She said everyone should smoke because it would be good for our economy and it would help solve our overpopulation problem.Sun, 05 Oct 2008 19:17:05 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3400&iddiary=6331
