It continued to be disturbing to me as the game went on it just got worse and worse. I think the reason I got through it was because the graphics were not realistic enough. But, I still knew that I was killing innocent people and that was not a good feeling. From reading up on this game I found out that this game is meant to go away from the stereotypes of other games and give a larger spectrum of games to be made instead of the walk in and kill the bad guys games that are made and meant for guys. I do not recommend this game for playing at all. The only way I would recommend this game would be to learn about the massacre and get insight on to why things happened the way they happened.Mon, 09 Mar 2009 22:11:16 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3704&iddiary=6942Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Mon, 09 Mar 2009 22:02:26https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3704The second time playing this game was a lot like my first experience of playing it. It was still a little confusing how to play, and it took a while to get used to the controls, I am sure that is just me and not the games fault. I was surprised that the game was not as gruesome as I thought it would be when you shot another student. This game brings out a lot of stereotypes that you see in schools. From the way they talk about the kids they want to hurt, from the way the kids you end up shooting are dressed or look like. The reasons the two kids said they were doing this did not seem legitimate at all. It just seemed like they needed attention rather than going out and killing innocent people. It was hard for me to continue with the game just because I was remembering why these kids were doing this and that this really happened. Beating this game would not give me a sense of accomplishment but rather a feeling of shame, so I do not think I will.Mon, 09 Mar 2009 22:02:26 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3704&iddiary=6940Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) - Mon, 09 Mar 2009 21:43:36https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3704At the beginning of playing this game, I felt disgusted that someone would create a game like this. But after reading up on it and playing more I found that the intent was not to just have an experience of killing innocent people, but to find it more insightful. As you get into the game you learn about your characters and what they are all about. You learn that you and your friend are about to embark on what they call the greatest event on their lives. You get to see into the lives of the main characters and learn about their families a bit, and what they are into. They then begin to say that this is payback for all they have been through. They say that they do not want their families to take any of the blame for what is going to happen and that it is just their decision. Getting the bombs and supplies ready felt weird for me because I know what they are going to use them for. It took a little while to figure out what to do in the parking lot and it was a little difficult getting past people, getting to the cafeteria was not the easiest thing. Although I do not believe the creators of the game are trying to send or get a message across to those who play the game, it would not be hard to create one in yourself. You have so many options to do almost anything you want, from drugs, sex, and money. You can even choose to be a vigilante, help people with an ambulance or fire truck, or drive a taxi and transport people. These things can make you think certain ways because most people who play this game never see people getting shot or run over by a car, so there is the possibility of becoming desensitized to types of things concerning these subjects. As I continued to through missions and interacting with people through Carl, I keep trying to think of how this game can be viewed by different ethical standards. I truly believe that most of the things that are done in this game like murder and drugs are immoral and should not be showcased around like it is cool and fun. But, I do think that we feel a sense of relief and enjoy letting go a little bit and imagining yourself as someone else and experiences things that would really never happen to you. I think the creators did an excellent job of portraying Carl’s life. The racism, lifestyle, and actions of the characters can be seen as things that really happen. It is just a game, but this can show people how immoral our society can be at sometime, but again, its only a game.Sun, 15 Feb 2009 19:53:10 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3602&iddiary=6781Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (XBX) - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 00:46:41https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3602Entry #2 As I continue my campaign of destruction in GTA, I get even further into the plot. As a get introduced to new characters and begin missions, I see how much there really is to do in this game. You can work out, get haircuts, change clothes, have a girlfriend, and so much more. This game is much more advanced in regards to the openness and ability to do missions or activities that are not exactly attached to the plot of the game. The story is based in the nineties, and there are many stereotypes, actions and ways of dressing and speaking that can be linked to this decade. As I go through the missions they continue to get more difficult and longer. I continue to get stars and it creates almost an annoying addition to the missions because I have to escape the police that are chasing me over and over again. The map of San Andreas is enormous. This is one of the problems I have with the game because it is almost too big. The storyline continues to get deeper and CJ continues to act in my eyes, more and more immorally. Even though I am controlling his actions I do not feel as though I am responsible for the way he is acting, because it is not real. But, too look at it through CJ’s eyes, doing these things help him out in his life. He sees it as his only way to succeed in life because unless he kills, steals, and works with drugs, he will either be killed or end up in jail.Thu, 12 Feb 2009 00:46:41 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3602&iddiary=6741Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (XBX) - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 00:30:21https://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3602I have played almost every installment of Grand Theft Auto, (the one I have not is the first) and this is one of my least favorites as an overall game. The game opens with a new character, a young black man named Carl or CJ. You start off driving back to your house in San Andreas because you have found out that CJ’s mother has died. You are pulled over by the police who appear to know CJ from earlier in his life. They speak to him about the role he used to have with drugs when he lived in San Andreas when he was younger. He tells the police that he is done with drugs and is completely clean. Although I felt that I wanted to get through the plot a little bit, I wound up getting into my old ways and just causing destruction (while using cheat codes) because I am already familiar with the plot. This is where I realized that this is why players enjoy this game so much. Even though there is a very long and deep plot in the game, there is still the opportunity for so much more. This game can be considered very immoral. It has subjects from violence to stereotypes and even sexuality. It is basically encouraged to do things that are considered immoral and illegal in our society. As I dove deeper into the plot it seemed that CJ was acting on what his friends wanted him to do and what he thought they would want him to do. If you further examine the game you can use the social contract theory because it is as if the society makes these rules through the violence and corruption in the city even though it may seem immoral to us in our real life society.Thu, 12 Feb 2009 00:30:21 CSThttps://www.gamelog.cl/logs/LogPage.php?Log_Id=3602&iddiary=6740
