This session of the game was a bit different from the beginning. I was able to stay on track and keep up with the missions but I was a bit more observant on the people around me in the game. When walking around people NPCs talk to each other. It is wild to hear what they have to say. The first instance that got me listening a bit more was when I walked by someone and I heard them say “That white boy got them on meth”. The racial comment and the history behind meth made this comment a bit dark. Another comment I heard in the game was when I was stabbing someone CJ said “I blame society.” Which is a crazy social commentary to place in the game.
Other things that I noticed to be pushing the line of acceptability within video games was the fact that the officer on the cell phone referred to CJ as boy which seemed quite demeaning. Everyone seems to be blown out stereotypes. Such as Ryder who is an Eazy-E lookalike who is always smoking a blunt.
The biggest turn in the game for me was the mission to go beat up the crack dealer. This is beginning to confuse me a bit on the ethical side of this game. CJ seems to be fighting to clean up his town. It just seems a bit out of place with the initial start of the game.

This being my first time playing Grand Theft auto since GTA3 first came out, I was a bit surprised to see how far they have pushed the series. From a developers standpoint there is a copious amount of new additions to the game play and an expansive environment. It was exciting to be playing the series again.
When I started the game I decided to continue on the intended path of the developers and start with the game. I am sure I fully haven’t gone through the tutorials, but I have already hit up the hood’s barber shop, eaten pizza, stolen cars, killed people, and been shot and killed by rival gang members.
It is interesting to see that all the billboards in the area are mostly for blunts and how everything is so typically “hood”. There is no good food to eat unless you want to pay lots of money. CJ’s friend who robs the pizza place is wearing Jordan shoes (Jordan 5’s to be specific), and everyone is adorned with the typical early 90’s gang wear. The dress that was inspired by the rap scene in the 90’s, which is prevalent on the radio station, that was on when I was in the car.
