Summary
Secret Agent Clank is a spin-off to the predecessors Ratchet & Clank series. In Secret Agent Clank you play as a tiny, intelligent yet hard hitting robot named Clank. After being known as Ratchet’s right hand man, he’s on a mission on his own, and that’s to prove Ratchet’s innocence and save Ratchet after being imprisoned for attempting to steal a jewel known as the Eye of Infinity from the Boltaire Museum for someone else’s evil desires. Who might that be? You’ll have to find out as Clank travels across the galaxy to rescue his friend Ratchet. You will also be busy keeping Ratchet alive after he encounters enemies that he was responsible for locking up in the same prison.
Gameplay
I feel that Secret Agent Clank is a pretty good game. This is fun a game for anyone whose is into Batman and James Bond. There is advanced technology, weapons and gadgets like the thunderstorm umbrella an umbrella that shoots thunder projectiles or blowtorch briefcase which is a fire breathing suitcase. A lot of missions require using stealth moves and wearing disguises to outsmart enemies. The storyline is full of mystery as any Batman or James Bond story would be but at the same time it can be confusing. The reason is not only do you play as Secret Agent Clank or Ratchet but you also play as Captain Qwark who was introduced in previous Ratchet & Clank games and is known as a galactic super hero but does immoral acts for money and his own selfish needs. It kind of takes me away from the main objective. Secret Agent Clank has a lot of action and keeps you on your toes as you will also have to perform rhythm missions where you correspond to the displayed action to advance further in to the game. There are also mini-game missions that help you gain bolts that will help you purchase the most powerful weapons in the game. This game makes me excited and intelligent altogether.
Design
I think the design really works well with the game play for the most part. It takes you into an intergalactic futuristic setting where you travel across the galaxy and face countless robots and aliens. The technology is highly advanced and you can obtain weapons that are incomparable. The weapons can gain more ammunition and power from experience level which is a lot better than having to save up and spend all your bolts on gaining a level. The missions have a lot of variety from action to puzzles to rhythm. I also like the music and you will too as long as you are into the James Bond type of music. The visuals are very colorful and hi-tech as you would expect in an intergalactic futuristic setting.
The things that set me back in Secret Agent Clank are that the game can be pretty difficult with all stealth missions and sneaking past enemies to advance further in the game. Sometimes you will have to sneak through the level without touching anyone. It is a lot easier to get caught. The rhythm missions can also be somewhat of an ordeal. It took me multiple times to complete them because of all the buttons that would appear across the screen. This game is not only for the action lovers but it requires some thinking as well to solve puzzles. Another thing is the enemies in the game get pretty repetitive. There can be too many of the same robots or aliens at times. The cut scenes are nice, but with the addition of Captain Qwark as a playable character it kind of takes away from the main focus.
