I just got done with my second of tree playing sessions. In this session I did about four missions, most notably a drive by and one where I had to rescue Ice T (Smoky?) and his girl. Throughout both of these missions Ice T kept talking about how the east side made CJ soft, a terrible driver, mainly blaming anything on the fact CJ had been living on the east coast. It does fit in with the east coast west coast rapper wars of the early 90s but its also leading to segregation to make the gamer feel more for the main character. This segregation doesn’t just stop with geographic location, but also with race. I am up to the point where I have to spy on CJ’s friends sister at the Hispanic side/gang hangout, and other then the police officer from the beginning cut scene, all, or at least all of the ones I have seen so far have been white, however, I have seen them go after random drivers here and there in the game for no reason I could tell.

So it was my first night of GTA: San Andreas. I played a little more then I wanted to (about an hour and a half), however, I didn’t feel like I had anything to say about it in thirty minutes. From the start of the game it came off very stereotypic. Just from the first cut scene with CJ at the airport, even in the early 90’s I don’t remember people flying dressed like he was. I also found it humorous that the three cops were riding in the same car, and no matter what, they are always out to get you; it doesn’t matter if you were defending yourself from the other gang or if they ran the red light (which they do A LOT) and you hit them your guilty. For most of the beginning missions it felt like I was playing an expanded version of some Ice Cube movie staring Ice-T.
