Ok, after my many failed attempts I will give my WarioWare: Smooth Moves log. I became interested in the microgames series when it came for the Nintendo DS. I kept wondering how it would play out on the Wii. So I rented it. I was very happy overall with my experience. I found the instructions on how to hold the remote (since there was about 21 or so different positions) hilarious. It sounded like something from a corny yoga video. Aside from that all the microgames were very fun and intuitive. The only problem I had was in one of the vacuum games where it just felt awkward trying to act like I was vacuuming. I like the concept of the microgames. I feel that it's perfect for people like me who want to get a few minutes of game play in without having to do very complicated things. I would certainly recommend it for its fast pace and simple interactivity.

I was invited to play this after my copy has been sitting at my desk for a long time. It didn't take long to relive the inherent issue in multiplayer games: there's a deep rift between new players, intermediate player, advanced players, and even rusty players that is made clear when these players play together. A 3v2 battle is guaranteed to result in the 2 team winning. There is none of this "they might pull it off this time" or "this is going to be a close battle" feeling in the gameplay. There's only this "I wonder how long we'll last this time before all of our entrails are scattered across the plains" feeling from the 3 partnered together. If the win is up in the air, it's fun to see who'll take it, but most players stop playing if it's in the air and there's a hurricane wind blowing towards one team all the time. By the time we were done playing most of us were pretty furious that we couldn't stay in the game for more than one minute. So we all just stopped playing.

Ok... either there's a game balance issue, I'm having a bad luck streak, or I'm just really bad at this. This time two creeps killed me off. The damage actually dealt ranges a little too much, from 3 to 25. I'm sure if I can figure out the inner mechanics of the game I'll probably do better. Until then it looks like luck will dictate whether I live or die.

Here's a game I've never played in full earnest before. From my knowledge of the world of games Final Fantasy set the standard of the RPG realm. So I tried to see how far I'd get. Well... I didn't get very far. I died soon after. Darn wolves. So I guess there's a lot more to it than that... The level design seems pretty hard, I suppose...
