My second day of San Andreas was not much better than the first. Overall the game is lacking in my opinion and seems just to be a game exactly like the pervious 3 games and was only made to make money. The only real difference is the intense racism that is just in your face.
However this time I figured id give the game a shot so I actually played the game. The things that happen in this game are ridiculous and make me wonder that by participating in this game am I myself moral? I mean the point of the game is to do these things but by playing it am I rust as guilty as the character?
An example of this is in the first mission where you basically are given a tutorial on how to play the game. In doing this you are to get a hair cut and food. While getting food your friend basically holds up the place. What is worse is that your character and you know exactly that this was going to happen and yet you go with it. Second I noticed that by accidentally running someone over (because there are no driving restrictions) I get one star. Immediately with one star the cops come after me and first thing they do is shoot at me. They don’t try to arrest me they just shoot. So what exactly are the game developers trying to put across?

The minute I start playing this game, the amount of racism is ridiculous. Grand theft auto has never been very subtle with racism but in this game you are just smacked in the face with it. That alone was enough to make me want to put the game down. However, I played through it only to be slapped in the face again by another completely racist violent attack by another gang. I am however very surprised by the first vehicle used is a bike instead of walking out on the street and mugging someone in broad day light.
I started playing this game with memories of grand theft auto 3 and vice city in my mind. Old habits die hard and when I was finally able to rid myself of the constant vulgar smacking gangster, I did what any fifteen year old would do with this game. I input the games cheat codes and began running up a huge wanted level and then began to murder and slaughter my way to the hospital.
This ability to put in cheat codes and then go and do what I did is an example of some problems with morality in this case. I understand that games don’t really make kids violent but it can not seriously be good for anyone to sit down and play games where you are not only able but sometimes promoted to hurt others for no good cause. Also in the game it has stats and the only ones are muscles, exhaustion, fat, and some others. There is nothing about intelligence or anything that could lead a person to a “better life”.
I believe that Kant would be against such a game in that if everyone was to be aloud to do what I do then everyone in the game would be dead and you’d have no game to play. So the actual character himself is immoral. On top that the utilitarianism would also argue that this character is immoral because the destruction I caused “could “ possible be justified so lets do some math. I brought momentary happiness to myself, again momentarily because I get bored in about 5 minutes. I have also brought “cred” to my gang. On the other hand I have killed hundreds of people, destroyed hundreds of families, caused major damage that someone has to pay for, and successfully caused so much terror that no one would ever go by that place again, and here is the kicker, I’ve done it just about anywhere so why would any body still be in the city?
