Dec 11th, 2012 at 23:42:48 - Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2012) (360) |
Today I have decided to pick up the newly released Need For Speed: Most Wanted; released just this past month in 2012. This is the newest release of Need For Speed so far, and being a sucker for racing games, i just had to give this a go.
The intro to the game is pretty typical. Good build up; there was a lot of reving and tire burning with the intro animation. The game did not come with an instructors manual which was confusing until i realized that the instructions were well built into the game. The game immediately started into career mode while an intriguing female voice explained everything.
The main objective of this game is to become "The Most Wanted". The game play takes place in the city of Farehaven where there are 10 elite street racers who run the show here. Our main objective is to race through multiple race scenarios with various different vehicles to earn enough respect to run with the elites and then become the most wanted of them all. One thing that i have seen off the bat that i do not like is the concept of gaining and switching vehicles. Before in the franchise, cars were bought with currency that was gained through winning races and/or selling vehicles. Now you have the ability to arrive at a dealership or other various locations around the city and switch into different cars automatically, which feels too easy and fake compared to the previous.
That being said, the game is great!! The racing game play feels so much more out of control and real than before. Crashes are spectacular looking and very authentic. The largest positive aspect of the game is how real the racing engine simulates racing, and next time i will take a more in depth analysis of this engine.

Oct 1st, 2012 at 21:13:41 - Assassin's Creed Revelations (360) |
I have taken a break from the Assassin's Creed sequel, and now i have decided to continue my experience of Assassin's Creed with Revelations. The game begins following the story line of Desmond Miles. After being in the Animus (the computer that syncs Desmond's consciousness to his ancestors past life and memories), the system has trapped Desmond inside of it and he is in danger of being "lost". The memory of Ezio Auditorie is continued with his execution about to take place.. until he escapes it. When the game play began i noticed that things remained mostly the same, except the fight engine had improved and your assassin can now make multiple chain kills during combat. I haven't continued very far, but i am excited to pick this game up again very soon.

Sep 25th, 2012 at 23:13:29 - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (360) |
As i continue to play online MOD3, i continue to work on the strategies that i have developed. As i have played varying maps, i have kept an eye out for good, easy to control regions where i can linger and hold out against my opponent. I have found that i am much better at using sniper rifles than any other weapon, the 50 caliber barret particularly is my favorite. Im trying to avoid camping in one place for too long, but i have noticed that the maps aren't big enough in MOD3. There's only usually one really long range spot to shoot from and usually you give yourself away after one shot so you can't survive there for long kill streaks. My main objectives for online multiplayer may have to change since sniping is limited for this version of MOD.

Sep 17th, 2012 at 18:42:07 - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (360) |
MW3 is pretty much identical to the other two Modern Warfare franchise. Especially in terms of online game play, the rules and objectives of the players are mostly the same across all three games. There are only slight differences in weapon choices, perks, and prestige rules. There are also more match types to choose from with slightly different rules, though i generally disregard the actual objective of the matches and aim to increase my kill/death ratio.
My main objective in particular is to eliminate as many opponents as possible while staying alive as long as i can. No matter what type of match i enter, i focus on keeping my K/D as high as possible. Because of this, i play only "ground war" matches mostly because that is the largest party match with 12-18 people. I have developed many strategies to achieve my goal. Generally i always keep track of my teammates and the regions of the maps that they have good control over; this way i can reduce the chance of getting flanked. Also, based on where my teammates are (and the general vicinity that i can dictate of where my opponents are spawning) i tend to camp in not in one place, but in a easily controlled area of the maps so that i can easily take incoming opponents without being over run.
I really enjoy playing this game, and i will continue to improve my strategies with the same objective in mind.
