After playing a little bit further into San Andreas any sense of "conventional" morality is lost. CJ has sunk fully into the life as a gangster, running guns, selling drugs and getting into shoot outs with and killing other gang members. What's more every move he takes to try and dig his way out of his hole only pushes him deeper. He is trying to get out of the hole the C.R.A.S.H. officers have him in but they have him firmly rapped in their grip. This is eventually made worse when CJ's brother is arrested after being involved in a gang war. With no other Recourse CJ is forced to flee the city. In this play cycle we see CJ fully immersed in the gang lifestyle. After being forced back in by the police, he is simply forced to go deeper and deeper into the hole in the mere hopes of getting back out.

In the opening of GTA you are introduced to "CJ" the main character of San Andreas. He is an African American who came from a a bad neighborhood and has a rough history. Within a few minutes of the beginning of the game, he returns home because his mother has been murdered and he wants to attend her funeral. Within a very short period of time he is captured by two dirty police officers and forced to work for them lest they frame him for the a murder they have just committed. This is an example of utilitarianism where CJ is forced into doing bad things which will (hopefully) have a good resolution. He returns home, and joins up with his brother and their friends with the intention of restarting their gang and once again becoming the dominant gang in the city. Before long CJ has fully reintegrated into gang life, getting in firefights and attacking gun shipments. He has taken the first steps down a slippery slope.
