I'll start out with a little background info. It's Gears of War for the Xbox 360. It is easily the best console shooter out right now. It was the only reason I bought an Xbox 360 and is the only game I have for it. I have already beat the campaign mode on casual, the easiest difficulty. I have been playing the game's online multiplayer for the last month or so. I enjoy it much more than the single player mode because online play offers a real unique experience in every game.
Now onto the topic of this post: new maps! 2 new maps have just been released for this game. They are called Raven Down and Old Bones. Raven Down takes place in an outdoor area in which there is a downed helicopter in the middle of a cross-shaped battlefield. Old Bones takes place in a large museum. The first map I decided to try was Old Bones, so I host a match and wait for some players to join up. After starting the match, I try to figure out what weapons are available on the map. I find that there are 2 grenade pick-ups, 1 boomshot, and 1 longshot. After a few rounds of exploration, the two teams begin fighting over the power weapons, mainly the longshot and the boomshot. One of my favorite aspects about this game is the cover system. One tactic that I use on all maps, which I applied on this one, is weapon camping. It is where I will camp around the corner of a weapon pick-up, wait for an enemy to pick up the weapon, and during the pick up animation, proceed to kill him with a quick gnasher shot to the head or a chainsaw, both of which are very satisfying.
