    Feb 23rd, 2017 at 13:48:01     -    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PC)

Well, I slew a griffin. It was a pretty fun experience, but I did feel a little bad for it. If only humans and griffins could live in peace with one another. The combat system made killing it fun because of all the dodging needed to beat it. The crossbow is pretty cool, too. I thought it was a little weird that there was kind of two different scenes with the griffin - the first one being really short and a little pointless, it seemed. To me, it felt like the scene switch a slightly unfortunate interruption that was a little distracting to the action. Perhaps this is an ignorant opinion for some reason that I am overlooking, though. Another thing that is worth mentioning is all of those strange swamp creatures that kind of come out of nowhere to attack you. They a both a little annoying and kind of cool at the same time. I look forward to seeing what is up with those things. I hope they have a little community or something somewhere. I'm impressed with the amount of strange, violent creatures in the world of The Witcher.

    Feb 22nd, 2017 at 12:01:20     -    The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PC)

Right before The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released a friend of mine was already raving about how good it was going to be and how large the open world was going to be and how great it was going to look, which made me interested in playing it. I was building a computer for the first time and my graphics card came with a Witcher 3 code. I doubt I would have ever played it if I had not gotten it for free, but after starting it, I'm glad I have it. It took me a while to start it since I had other games I wanted to play, and RPGs usually are my first pick. l think the game is pretty cool. I like the ethics system in it, though I haven't gotten far enough into the game to really understand it. The character models look really nice, but I'm not too impressed with the environment. I don't know why I'm bothered so much by ugly grass, but I am. Don't get me wrong, the low res grass isn't keeping me from enjoying the game. What I like most about the game is the combat system. It's different from any other game I have played, and I find it to be much more immersive since there is a larger variety of attacks to do. I'm excited to progress further into the story.

    Jan 25th, 2017 at 17:19:55     -    The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

Continuing on in The Last of Us, the smuggling of the child has gotten a little messy. Obviously, if you are reading this game log entry, you aren't worried about spoilers, so I won't worry about keeping it vague. As the main characters were progressing though, the realize that the girl being smuggled had been infected with the zombie virus, but had not turned into a zombie. At this point, they questioned going through with the smuggling. They were asked to smuggle her to a lab or something (I haven't gotten there, yet) so that her blood could be tested - they think she holds the cure. They get noticed by the authorities while sneaking out, and they have to stealthily advance through the level. They also have to use stealth to get around zombies once they have made it into the city. It's actually a pretty fun game!

    Jan 24th, 2017 at 14:31:18     -    The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

Continuing on in The Last of Us, I find the dichotomy between the non-zombie people interesting. The is a very prominent hierarchy. There is what seems to be the government attempting to control and contain all that are not infected, while the zombies run ramped outside of this safe zone. There is also a hierarchy among the people being contained within this area. It is like a weird little refuge that you might hear about in a third-world country, except there are zombies. It has had over a decade to establish itself. Within the contained area, people seem to be trading and forming small alliances, as people do. They trade resources like ration cards (to be handed in for food) and guns. Currently there is a dilemma about an agreement the main characters are about to make (whether or not to smuggle a child out of the area in return for the guns that were stolen from them, then sold to the person that is asking them to smuggle said child). It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.
