Jan 12th, 2007 at 15:08:24 - Maple Story (PC) |
Sorry for the above post, it wasn't working at first and it was a test post. Then I found out I couldn't delete it....anyways..
As a White Knight at lvl 75 I've come to experience a lot of different things in the land of Maple Story. From being on Maple Island (The Beginner land) to the main island all the way to the toy land of Ludibrium. I tried this game at first because my friends told me it was really addictive. Knowing that online games such as Gunbound, where I couldn't stop playing, were going to waste a lot of time, I decided to pass, but I couldn't help it and I started Maple Story.
Immediately, I was hooked. I would play day and night so I could be stronger and get new skills and visit new worlds. However, after a while, I started to notice that all I did was train, train, train, train, do a quest, train, train and train some more. It got extremely repetitive and things became to get a bit boring. Especially since I took the "hell path" where in order to become a White Knight, which was viewed as one of the most respected classes on Maple Story. This is due to the fact that one needs to become a Page first which is terribly weak and can barely get through training for an extra 40 levels. At level 70, when I finally became a White Knight, I quit for some time.
However, when I went to college, Maple Story was the only way I could keep in touch with my High School friends so I picked it up again. And now, I find myself addicted once again. *sigh*

Jan 11th, 2007 at 22:53:42 - Silent Hill 4: The Room (XBX) |
So I borrowed this game from a friend because I wanted to get my adrenaline rushed. I don't normally play a scary game let alone a movie. I was terrified when I turned it on, but after a few minutes, it didn't seem scary to me. Maybe it's because I'm still in the beginning or maybe I was just tired. For fun, I set it on hard mode which wasn't the best move because those dead dog things were harassing me until I died. I killed one, but it came back alive before I realized you had to step on it. The voice acting is great from what I heard. Nothing makes sense right now, but I'm sure that will change. I turned it off once I died three times on those dogs (I really should have put it on easy) and I'm thinking about giving the game another go, but not likely. I like my RPGs and this obviously isn't one so maybe I didn't give this a chance. I don't feel like doing a review because it wouldn't be fair from what I've played. I might pick it up when I want to give it another go.

Jan 11th, 2007 at 22:41:28 - Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) |
After putting Tekken Tag Tournament on hiatus for a while, I decided to go back and play it and brush up my "skills". My favorite character to use is Ling Xiaoyu though not many people like to use her, but that's why I trained with her so I could be a little different. However, my favorite team is Jin and Jun because they kind of balance each other out. I decided to train with a couple of the female characters such as Nina, Anna and Julia and found them all to be really good. I'm thinking of using Nina/Anna as a team now since they are both really similar and it's kind of like a backup thing.
After not playing for a long time, I found the graphics to be in tip top condition even for it's release date a couple years ago. The graphics aren't perfect by all means, but they're pretty good. The thing I like about the Tekken series (my favorite fighting series) is that it requires skill to play a character. Unlike Soul Calibur (another one of my favorite series), simply button mashing doesn't really give you the upper hand since if you button mash in Soul Calibur it can bring you to far places.
I loved playing Tekken Bowling again because I've always been a fan of real life bowling and this just adds up. I think the people with auto-aim are really cheap in bowling so I tend not to use them much. However, if the time calls and I just feel like giving it a go, I break out Yoshimitsu and Gun-Jack. The final boss for this installment is Unknown who I think was a bit too easy, but her character in play is something to not mess with. She can become any character by pressing R3(Left analog click) and if you use her with another person, that team is a force to be reckoned with.
Anyways, it was nice to play this again and as for a review....well I've decided not to give it a review because I give it an A anyways. I love Tekken =).

Jan 9th, 2007 at 23:52:09 - Final Fantasy XII (PS2) |
I beat this game already so I'm writing a log on the game as a whole and the extra features which I am attempting now. The first movie was incredible (think of star wars meets lord of the rings). It really set the mood of the game would compel me to look at the intro again on youtube. For the first few hours of the game, I was kinda bored. But once I got my first party member, the game really picked up. The battle system picked up and everything wrapped up in the end which made a brilliant game. The story was very political and it required a lot of "paying attention" as they would give a new name out every hour. The character's were (mostly) fleshed out even though two of them weren't really needed.
Adding to the battle system, it's a good change to the final fantasy series as well as the gambits which makes it seem like you're controlling all 3 characters at the same time. Licenses are okay because I like characters to have set roles, but it's a change and I have to adapt to it. Music is nice, but nice at most because none of the tunes really get stuck in your mind. Voice acting is wonderful, however, and all the voices match the character.
Right now I'm doing the extra quests which are the hunts including the extremely "HP rich" bosses. Even though the game is over, the game is still fun and I'm thinking of even replaying it. As of now, I've completed almost all the hunts and I'm am going to challenge the optional espers (summons). I'll update and tell how it goes.
My Review:
Gameplay 9.5
Graphics 9
Sound 8.7
Story 9
Surge (How the game flows) 9
Overall 45.2/50 A-
