Upon my third time playing the game I got really bored with its core mechanics as well as the story. There’s nothing wrong with the story, it’s just that there’s nothing to do for now. While at the beginning there were moral dilemmas and hard choices this section of the game seems to be about getting into the game play, the problem is, the game play is pretty boring this early on in the game as stated earlier. There have been choices such as whether or not to sell evidence from crime scenes to the mob, the problem is, there is no way of telling how these decisions further impact the games difficulty or story. There needs to be some sort of way that the player can keep track of their deeds such as a journal that updates automatically and displays the major decisions and stats that the game is keeping track of but the player has a difficult time keeping track of. I am interested in seeing how the story of the game plays out but not if I have to slog through hours of boring game play.

My second time playing “This is the police” I noticed how the game makes you choose which officers to put in harm’s way when you decide to send an officer to a crime. The game seems to be full of decisions that will affect the ending in some way but the problem is I can’t figure out how the game will end. The game makes you choose between two different options in most major decisions but I think the game could be better if it introduced a third option to do nothing.

I really liked the game “This is the police”. I’ve never played a point and click game before and this game did not disappoint upon first playing it. The story draws you in just with the intro and keeps you engaged, even after an hour I felt like it had been mere minutes of playing the game. It almost seemed like a choose your own adventure movie. One of the ethical dilemmas that the player faces in the game is to choose whether or not to help an officer by working for the mob, if you don’t help him, as I choose, then his entire family and he is brutally tortured and executed but if you save him it goes against your morals as being a police chief. There are other moral dilemmas such as whether or not to let a crime take place, or you can even kill off your officers if they start asking too many questions. There is such a good narrative in this game and I am excited to play more.
