Agents of Mayhem has a lot of good. But is it enough good to overcome it's brother Saint Row's shadow? AoM has a of style and a lot to like, but unfortunately, there isn't really much that sticks out to make it a remarkable game. It's Volition's take on GI Joe, and overall they did a good enough job.
As I said the game has a lot of style. It's very colorful and nice too look at. It's got a lot a humor, but sometimes this comes off as forced rather than charming. The story is bare bones. The villains are nothing special. The gameplay itself is consistently good enough. I wanted to stop playing AoM, but the gameplay was what got me to the finish line. There are 12 playable characters in AoM and the player can take any three of them out at a time. The player then switches through them whenever they need to. Each character actually feels very unique. They all use different weapons and have different special attacks. Unfortunately, this mechanic feels kind of superficial as the game goes on. Once the player has all of the playable characters, they don't really experience anything new.
That brings me to the mission variety and ludonarrative harmony. All of the missions in this game are the exact same. Go to a spot, hack a thing, enter secret lair, and kill all bad guys. This is all done while voices are played in the background to provide story and context to what is going on. This didn't get insanely old, but it would've been nice to see more variety, and better story telling methods.
When I say Volition did a good enough job with this one I mean, everything in this game is good enough. There isn't anything that is bad about this game, but there isn't really anything that is great. During all of my time playing AoM I was thinking to myself that I wanted to play Saints Row again rather that AoM. That's probably not the best sign.

Well, the game has been completed! As with Yakuza 0 I really liked this one! It's basically the same as yakuza 0 in terms of graphics and gameplay, but the game was almost 1/3 the length.
The graphics are nice. They feel like the graphics a remastered Xbox 360 game would have on modern consoles. They are good enough for sure. The environments especially look great.
The 3D brawler combat is almost 100% copied and pasted from the previous game. This isn't such a bad thing. It holds up well, and because of the upgrade system, there is more and more variety as the game goes on. Unlike Yakuza 0, the player upgraded their overall fighting skills rather than individual fighting styles. This allows switching between fighting styles based on where the fight is taking place, how many enemies there are, and what objects can be used in the fight.
The story is great. As I mentioned, its a lot shorter than Yakuza 0. I beat the main story in about 10hrs. Where as is took me 27hrs to beat Yakuza 0. Kazuma Kiryu stands tall as a fantastic protagonist. He's a forever good guy in a criminal world. There is also a nice cast of other characters in Yakuza Kiwami, but I would say that's the biggest area that Yakuza 0 has the edge. The characters in that game were just so much stronger and likable, especially the villains.
I'm excited to play the next game in the series. Yakuza Kiwami is a fun game! Honestly at this point, the Yakuza series is justifying my GamePass subscription. I would recommend anyone with an Xbox or a decent PC subscribe and play these games!

At first I really enjoyed this game. There was a lot of mystery and I had no idea what was going on. At first I thought it was a stealth fps, but I quickly realized that its more of a psychological thriller.
The gunplay is pretty simple. Its not the best, but it is very passable. What really makes this game unique is the phone that the player is equipped with. It does all kinds of things that all help the player solve different puzzles and uncover clues.
For some reason the game was made in Unreal 3. For this reason the graphics all feel outdated. They feel like they should be in an Xbox 360 game. The game does benefit from the stronger hardware and holds its framerate high.
The ending was kind of garbage. The developers really wanted the game to feel like the choices in the game matter, but with the way I played the game ended in a lame way. It's clear I am meant to keep playing the game to uncover stuff, but I don't really want to. The story feels like it has ended.

I played this for about 20 minutes. The frame rate is abysmal! I swear it was running at a solid 10-15 fps for most of that time I was playing. Its bad. Its too bad because the game seems fun and like it has some good ideas! Unfortunately its pretty much unplayable with the framerate like it is. Maybe I'll play if for PC one day, but I will not be playing it on the Xbox 360 again. I would keep playing if I didn't have so many other, better games to play at the moments.
