Dead Rising is an action-adventure game about being stuck in a mall with zombies for three days. Your character is a mild-mannered photojournalist who gets dropped off on the mall in hopes of finding a big story but ends up being stuck with zombies and survivors trapped within the mall. An aging photographer isn’t an action hero and he knows it but he tries his best anyways, even when confronted with using a gun on a person. Despite his reluctance, the main character definitely doesn’t mess around when it comes to killing zombies.
A surprising thing about the game is the emphasis on the photography aspect of the game. Your character has a level system with one upgrade or skill per level gained. The experience comes from bonuses involving killing zombies or escorting survivors to safety but your main source of experience is photos. Better pictures with more people or zombies in it give more points, as expected, but there are also bonuses for capturing emotions, (drama, romance, brutality, horror, erotica), which took me by surprise how well the camera system was made. Based on how fast the experience system progresses I would guess that 50-60 hours would be required to fully level up the character.
