    Jan 31st, 2007 at 02:32:11     -    Super Mario 64 (N64)

Going through the castle, I was paying attention to the graphics of the game. Although they weren't good as opposed to the current games such as Gears of War, the graphics were great for its time. The game gives a feel of a basic 3d castle and that's enough to draw me into the game instead of turning it down.
I was to create a videogame, this game has inspired me. Setting a standard for other games to follow is something that I want to do and I feel Super Mario 64 did just that for 3d games. Although the game isn't perfect, just giving a basic frame for others to expand on really reaches out to me.
The freedom this game allows also draws me towards it. While playing, I had fun being able to go to a world and do whatever you want (although you complete tasks for stars).
All in all, I liked Super Mario 64 for it's originality and courage for stepping into a type of game that the franchise never was a part of before.

    Jan 31st, 2007 at 02:15:09     -    Super Mario 64 (N64)

In my opinion, Super Mario 64 is one of the best Nintendo 64 games to be created. In the game, you control Mario through various instances in Peach's castle while trying to save her from Bowser. The story is very typical of any Super Mario game but its the other elements in this game that make it stand out from the rest.
Nintendo's decision of having Mario enter the 3-D world has what makes this game shine. In the older version of Mario games such as Super Mario Brothers, Mario was only able to jump, run from left and right, and other basic moves in comparison to Super Mario 64. Being able to double jump, turn metal, and swim are just some of the features that brings audience to love Super Mario 64.
The stars also added more depth to the game. Usually, after the story of the game is over, the player will quit playing the game; however, being able to search for 120 stars in the game make the player want to continue until he has reached a hundred percent.
I decided to play through the beginning of the game again. I went to the first level where you have to fight the big bom-omb at the top of the stage. Talking from when I first played Super Mario 64 years ago, it was fun playing through the game and defeating bosses such as bom-omb because it gave people something different and unique. My next log will talk about roaming around the castle and the graphics of Super Mario 64.

    Jan 19th, 2007 at 02:00:01     -    Super Smash Brothers (N64)

After another match in Super Smash Brothers, I decided to write a little more about the game play during the match. I played at Hyrule Castle, my favorite stage out of the 8 different stages. The reason I like this level because its basically a normal level to play on with the exception of funny tornadoes to surprise everyone with its presence. Although I rarely died, the times I did was usually because of the computer hitting me with an item such as a Sword or pokeball or because I was hit into a tornado. I got 26 knockouts in the round mainly because of Luigi's Super Jump Punch, which I use alot in my tactics. The basic design of the characters and level was unnoticed as I was focused on the fun I was having playing the game. Usually I play Super Smash Bros with friends but I just wanted this time to play and concentrate on how this game makes me feel, which is happy! However, I did play Super Smash Bros at a videogame tournament we held at our school last weekend. I didn't do so well as my friend dominated the competition but I'm looking to train more.

    Jan 19th, 2007 at 01:48:37     -    Super Smash Brothers (N64)

Probably one of my favorite games of all-time would be the Super Smash Brothers series. Although some of my friends believe that Super Smash Brothers Melee is far superior than the original, I still like some of the qualities of the original Super Smash Brothers game.
One aspect of the game that made me instantly attracted to the game would be the controls. The controls weren't complex so many people who haven't played a game like Super Smash Brothers can easily get into the game. Super Smash Bros Melee may tend to have more controls but being the first Smash Bros, it was very easy to get into the game. Another reason I liked playing this game because it incorporates many of the characters from other Nintendo games I play such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Link and Samus.
Super Smash Brothers was one of the games that made me want an Nintendo 64 instead of going to my friend's house everyday and bugging him to play with me. It was great to go back and play this game again. I decided to play with all items on to add more different outcomes in the game. I picked Luigi as my character, being my favorite videogame character, while choosing characters Mario, Fox, and Pikachu for the computer. As well as items, characters also adds to the different outcomes of each game. Luigi's single Super Jump punch by pressing Up-B near an opponent as opposed to Mario Coin-Uppercut makes him a tad bit different from Mario. However, thats just one of a few differences between Mario and Luigi, making each player have the choice to play different styles. In my next game log, I'll talk more about the gameplay that occured while playing against the computer.
