Jan 19th, 2007 at 13:41:29     -    The Legend of Zelda (NES)

The Legend of Zelda has only gotten better since my last log. After awhile you don'y get nearly as lost and when you first start the game. Also after getting through a few dungeons and getting a few extra hearts makes it much easier to get around. I am kind of lost right now, I think I went ahead of myself a bit and somehow stumbled upon the sixth level. I think the game would be better if it was a little more clear on what is needed to be done in the game.
One great thing about this game are the enemies. The characters in this game are so different from each other yet very similar. Each enemy moves at different speeds and some shoot things that can be blocked by your shield or things that can't be blocked by your shield. The snakes in the second dungeon were cool because anytime they are parallel to Link they rush at him.
Another thing about this game that makes it fun is that for the most part the game does not force you to go through really hard areas before you need to. The easiest way to find the first dungeon and just follow the screens that have the easier enemies.
It is obvious why this game is a classic. The dungeon design is great along with the great spectrum of enemies you get to fight. There are still a few things that could make this game better such as a little more talking to people so I know atleast where to go sometimes.

Jan 19th, 2007 at 02:29:21     -    The Legend of Zelda (NES)

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most fun yet frustrating games I've played. First of all there is no map, well there is but it just shows where you are on a blank map. Also, other than where you start there are no safe areas. There are no towns, only caves you can go into to buy items. Just starting off I died several times just looking for some place to go for I had no idea where I was supposed to go.
With all the frustrations I still wanted to play the game. Even though i died a few times, I didn't want to put the controller down. One of the reasons I couldn't put it down was because the game is very forgiving when you die. Yes you go back to the beginning but other than that you just hit "continue" and just keep playing. There was no certain number of continues or anything so I felt like I could just go wander and not worry if I died. And also after a little bit you start knowing where things are and of course where all the fairies are that give you full health. Another great thing about the game is that with full health you can throw your sword as many times as you'd like which comes in very handy when killing eight guys on one screen.
Overall my first impression is a good one. Even though the game is very challenging, you are given unlimited lives and a cool sword to throw. It is a great balance of fun and challenging gameplay. I might even make it a little easier to start. I could easily see an unseasoned gamer try this game and quickly give up.

    Jan 12th, 2007 at 13:40:56     -    Xenosaga (PS2)

I'm four hours into Xenosage now and finished the First chapter. The game has gotten a bit more exciting and there re actual fights now. There are still things that are incredibly frustrating such as not being able to change the camera view.
There are still things that I enjoy about this game. Right now my mech has an automatic weapon in one hang, a sword in the other, and a rocket launcher on its shoulder. Other than a normal mech game I have not played an RPG where the mech is so customizable. Also the strategy involved in saving AP to use stronger attacks adds a different aspect to the game.
So far in the game I have been incredibly bored watching cut scene after cut scene but It looks as if the plot is finally going to lead somewhere and there is going to be a little more action. I blame the large amount of cutscene on the fact that the whole first four hours were introduction. I'm praying that the cutscenes will not be so abundant for a while and that I'll actually get in a few good hours of just pure gameplay.

    Jan 12th, 2007 at 03:29:18     -    Xenosaga (PS2)

I've had this game sitting around for about four years now. I played Xenogears which was an amazing game but as of right now I'm not that impressed with Xenosaga. I guess I can't say much about the graphics since I'm used to the 360 and PS3 so to say the least, the graphics are alright.
I've played the game for a few days now, a few agonizing days of reaching some point of interest in the game. There are so many cut scenes I was ready to turn off the game after the first 20 minute cut scene. Finally after an hour of gameplay it seems like the game is finally about to start. The battle system is somewhat hard to figure out because most of the things you can't read. So far there has been very little story line but hey its just the beginning and I can be a little hopeful.
