    Feb 9th, 2007 at 14:33:20     -    Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)

I recently started playing the level “Into the Depths,” which definitely is one of the best examples of level design that I have seen so far in this game. This level starts of fighting with a bunch of those zombies guys and plenty of angels. Supposedly angels are one of the harder characters in the game but the shotgun seems to deal with the sufficiently. Using the seeder is also an effective way to kill anyone who is trying to chase you, all that the player needs to do is leave a trail of bombs that and enemy will inevitably run over. One part that I rally don’t like about this level is that there are so many of those scorpion pod things which you cant even destroy. If you don’t want to get sneak attacked you can just walk up and anticipate their pounce out of the pod shell and have their face meet the end of your barrel. This level is huge and enemies come from every direction. One thing I like about the AI in this game is that they will bombard you with grenades if the know what your position is. It really gave me a sense of anxiety like they were actually trying to blast me out of my position. This level is a great example of how fast paced Resistance: Fall of Man can really be.

When I went back to play GTA San Andreas for my second round I wanted to make sure that it would be a memorable experience. I decided to play one of my favorite missions which was Ryders mission called Robbing Uncle Sam. I really liked this level because it was very challenging. I had to maintain many things if I wanted to complete this mission. I had to juggle helping Ryder stay alive, load up the truck, and fight off soldiers who were trying to kill me. I like the first part where you have to cap the first soldier after you jump the fence. After you do this all hell breaks loose as you have to load up the truck as quickly ass possible. The forklift has some funky rear wheel steering which adds another challenge to the robbery. I chose to use my MP5 to suppress any attacks by the soldiers. Half of the fun about this mission is getting the big van back to the lockout while avoiding being killed. This game gives me anxiety when I was being chased by the computer. You know a game is good if you actually jump out of your seat when you are finally arrive and the chase stops. This is the last Ryder mission so I think the creators attempted to make this on of the more difficult levels. I thought that having to juggle so many things within this actual mission kept it extremely exciting. This is by far one of the deepest and most difficult missions in the entire game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the greatest PS2 games of all time. I had already beaten this game in the past and knew that replaying it would give me some insight into the game that I would not have had previously. I actually used a profile that had been saved in the past which hadn’t progressed too far in the game. I tried doing the first mission for O.G. Loc titled Nines and Aks. This is a great mission because it involves honing in the players motorcycle abilities. In this mission you have to chase behind Freddy until you reach the basketball court. I thought the computer did a good job of staying a far distance away from me and kept the chase very interesting. I tried to take out Freddy before we got to the basketball courts with my machine guns but I was unsuccessful. I especially liked the part where the computer randomly cuts through dirt trails in attempts to stay away from me. Too bad I am a pro GTA motorcycle driver and Freddy didn’t stand a chance. I dumped on him and his three other gangster friends at the basketball court with my AK-47 and they didn’t stand a chance. After that all I had to do was drop of my wannabe gangster friend at the burger shot. I really liked this mission because it truly feels like you are chasing your enemy down. I almost lost him at one point but I kept my speed up in the direction of the markers and eventually found my enemy.

I was bored with the single player pretty quickly so I decided to play my buddy in some Licensed to Kill, Pistols only, In the Facility. I remember that this combination of rules was the way to play when I was younger. I forgot how slow you walk in this game if you don’t turn turbo mode on in the cheats list so that’s what I did. This made the game pretty crazy as we were running through the whole level shooting each other like madmen. I liked using the silenced pistol and the DD44 and remembered how much I liked the rumble pack when I was younger. The magnum is cool cause you can shoot through doors and is especially good if you want to be a wiener and sit in the bathroom stall until someone walks in. This game is great because it is so deep and there are so many weapons and weird cheats to keep the game exciting.
