    Mar 6th, 2008 at 02:30:47     -    Guitar Hero 3 (360)

    Second Game Play
My second time playing Guitar Hero III made me realize how easy it really is, and I was able to immerse myself in the game and really fully enjoy it. I was able to move up and play the songs that I liked more than the easy ones. Half the fun of Guitar Hero is that the music is really good, and it’s enjoyable to go through the different songs. GH provides an effect incentive to do well by providing the option of unlocking songs the better you do.
As I got getter I was able to use star power, which gave me even more points. I was also able to gain more points when I felt good enough to use my whammy bar. And while I felt silly doing it, it if I stood while playing and jerked my guitar up I got even more points. Guitar Hero was very smart to make a game that forced you to more around in order to do better, because it really makes the player feel like they are a part of the game.

    Game Design
Guitar Hero was a very creative and I assume very wealthy invention. The backgrounds are interesting enough to make for a good game, but they are not flashy enough to distract the player from hitting the right notes. The characters are diverse enough to attract any kind of player, and there is no special interest needed to play Guitar Hero because it is all about music. Guitar Hero appeals to both the sexes and I felt like I was playing a game that was meant for me.
The reward system is just the right amount of incentive to make the player want to continue playing and to do their very best. Not only do you receive more songs and better venues by doing better, but also you get to feel better about yourself when the crowd cheers you on, and positive newspaper articles are written about you. I felt good about myself after I played, because I felt like I had succeeded rather than felt frustrated after a shooting game like Halo. The hopes of becoming a bigger “star” keeps players playing, and will probably keep players playing for many years to come.

    Guitar Hero III
    Summary
Guitar Hero III is a game that enables the player to play guitar along with its character. The goal of GH is to complete each song with the highest percentage of correct notes possible. The songs are played by using a controller shaped like a guitar with five colored buttons that you press with your left hand, and one “fret bar” that you push in place of “strumming”.

    First Game Play
This is by far one of my favorite video games. I love the fact that you are able to really interact with the game and instead of making your character move, you are able to be your character. As usual, when I first started playing Guitar Hero I had a lot of trouble adjusting to the guitar controller. Luckily GH made their controller idiot proof and I was able to adjust in moments. Having played guitar before I feel like I had an advantage, even though playing guitar hero is nothing like playing an actual guitar. I was really slow at the beginning but I can definitely understand how people are able to improve really quickly, and get good at Guitar Hero.
There is an added aspect of excitement to Guitar Hero, because it offers a wide array of characters to choose from. Characters range from the stereotypical looking rocker chicks with their pink hair and heels, to the giants with their Mohawks and studded leather jackets. The social interaction also pumps you up as a player. Whether you are playing amazingly or just doing mediocre the crowd is constantly cheering you on and making you feel like you are up there playing like a champion.

    Feb 20th, 2008 at 19:00:56     -    Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)

    Second Game Play:
My second time playing “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” was much more fun. This time I was successfully able to steal cars, and I concentrated on that rather than working on my mission. If you drive around the city enough you can find ramps to jump your car off of, and if you complete your jumps then you get points. I concentrated on getting points that way, because I wasn’t good at getting them any other way.
I think that it is really fun to taunt cops in the hope that they will start chasing you. Playing grand theft auto allows you to break all the road rules you wouldn’t be able to break in real like. Especially because you have the option of running down hookers, or just beating people at random. I definitely understand the appeal of GTA because it allows the player freedom from the real world while being in their magic game circle.

    Game Design:
I enjoyed playing “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City”. The makers did a really good job of creating a solid, and interesting game plot, filled with lots of character interactions. I was interested in the plot so I looked up a summary online. I found a very long and very detailed description of the game that I felt was really interesting, but hard to absorb while actually playing the game.
I only had a few complaints about the game, but mainly I feel that GTA would appeal to more gamers if there were the option of choosing your character. As a girl I think that the game would be just as fun, if not more fun, if there was a female character that could be badass and steal cars as well (the majority of the women in the game are hookers).
I read up on the game, and while it is violent there are other options of activities to do in the city. You can rush people to the hospital, fight fires, or be on the police’s side in tracking down crime. I think that if I were to play Grand Theft Auto again I would try one of these options, because I get a little sick of violent games.
All in all I think that GTA is a good game, the settings are diverse enough to keep the player interested, and the different music options, depending on what type of car you steal, keeps the sounds from getting boring. Aside from the violence I like “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” and I would definitely play it again.

    Feb 20th, 2008 at 19:00:35     -    Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)

    GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY

    Summary:
Set in Miami, “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City”, turns you into a mafia hit man named Tommy Vercertti. Your game “mission” is to retrieve money and cocaine for your mafia boss Sonny Forelli, while stealing cars, and fighting other mob bosses.

    First Game Play:
When I first started playing “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” I was a little confused on how to make my character do everything I wanted. It always takes me a little time to adjust to the game well enough that I feel like I can start playing. Once I felt accustomed to the controls, I started exploring the city. I know that Grand Theft Auto is known for its violence and car theft, hence the name, but I was having trouble stealing cars, and fighting people.
I let my friend show me how to steal cars, and then I got to work. I like how you can steal a car, then chase another better car, and steal that one. There is always a bigger and better option, which gives me the drive to try to find that better car. I was still having trouble navigating the city, and the plot line was way too complicated for me, so I spent the majority of my first game play driving around, exploring and stealing games.
