Log 2
Gameplay:
As I continued to play Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, I became more and more addicted to what was happening. The story grew quite intriguing as new characters were introduced, and "zombie" numbers increased. The graphically stunning cut scenes that were prevalent throughout my gameplay experience further added to my entertainment and encouraged my involvement in the game. Furthermore, the more I played, the more in touch I became with the Wii controller, adding to my enjoyment of the game. Also adding to my enjoyment, was the constant heart-pounding action which became more prevalent the more I played.
After playing the game for a while, I finally fulfilled the first part of my primary goal, finding the President's daughter. Although this relieved me, I became quite annoyed with the fact that now, I not only had to keep Leon out of trouble, but her as well! Adding to my frustration was the fact that I was given two more buttons to remember to assist in controlling her. However, with the addition of this character, the game became much more challenging. At often times, I happily found myself forced to think carefully in order to solve complex problems and puzzles.
Game Design:
This game is innovative because it uses the third person point of view to its ultimate potential. Unlike most shooters, such as Halo which are first person, this one offers a different and effective viewpoint. With this unique spectrum, players are able to see every action unfold in front of them. The action itself is very detailed and graphic, and the levels are very complex. The game uses the space on the screen very wisely, for each area presented usually contains something which relates to your journey, whether it be a key, "zombies", items, etc. Also, the detail in the maps increase the intensity while playing, for you never know what is lurking behind a door or in a tree.
Because the game has so many puzzles, one hundred percent attention is needed in playing. These puzzles are mentally challenging, and through their achievement, a cut scene is usually provided, granting players satisfaction. However, at times, some of the challenges presented seem a bit too hard for beginners, yet for the determined ones, they should be completable. The reward structure in the game is very original, for as the game progresses, new items, such as weapons are presented. The weapons available increase in power as players get further and further in the game, encouraging gameplay.
What makes this game so appealing is that with every level completed, a cliffhanger ending occurs. This encourages players to continue on with their gameplay, longing to discover what happens next. Personally, I also found the suspense in the game to be appealing for it urged me to continue on, just as a suspense film would urge its viewers to continue watching. Furthermore, since the storyline is well developed, with every action, the story unravels itself slowly and surely, adding to people's thirst to know what happens. These addictive qualities make Resident Evil 4 an intense, attractive, and overall good game.

Summary:
I chose to play the highly acclaimed game Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. In the game, you play as a United States government agent known as Leon, and you are given the task of finding the current President's daughter from a secluded location. Although the task sounds simple, the area from which you must retrieve the girl has been overrun by "zombie" peasants!
Game Experience:
Upon first playing the game, I was surprised that the graphics were so detailed. The characters were very lifelike, especially Leon, who's appearance portrayed the perfect action hero. While playing the game, I noticed that there was a variety of complex controls. To control Leon, you have to use not only the Wii remote, but also the numbchuck. During the first thirty minutes of gameplay, I became frustrated with the controls, for I often forgot which button triggered which action. I frequently found myself at a GAME OVER screen because I had forgotten which button to press to execute a close-range attack.
As I made my way through the first section of the game, I noticed that it was filled with suspense. I often found myself jumping as a "zombie" would emerge out of a building, from a tree, etc. The creepy soundtrack in the game also added to the suspense. I admired that the game was a third person shooter, for a clear image of action was presented. Although there was not much shooting, the game still gained my interest due to the heart-pounding instances and graphic violence that occurred.
