    Jan 25th, 2008 at 18:51:01     -    Goldeneye 007 (N64)

    SUMMARY:
In Goldeneye, you are James Bond and you sneak around doing various missions following the storyline of the movie.

    GAMEPLAY:
I remember playing it as a kid and I couldn't get very far, but this time, I was able to. This game was pretty fun, I thought, despite it being twelve years old and kind of outdated. The attack system is simple enough, where you just shoot things and sneak through a level. It sounds like any other shooter, but the fact that you are James Bond and you have a few objectives to complete before ending the level make it really cool.
I liked the realistic AI, where the enemy soldiers roll and sidestep shots, as well as the fact that you can knock their hats off.
I also enjoyed the way you can take the game as fast as you want to. You can sneak, or you can go with guns blasting through the whole level. It's the player's choice, and the 3d world was a good setup for this game.
The story was good fun. Taken from the movie Goldeneye (or maybe the book), it was fun to be like, "Ah, I remember that from that movie! That's cool!" Also it put you in the shoes of James Bond 007, with the theme music backing you up, it was real fun.

    Jan 14th, 2008 at 13:56:45     -    Katamari Damacy (PS2)

    GAMEPLAY:
I found Katamari Damacy to be pretty fun because it had comic humor and interestng gamemplay that I like. I've never seen a game like it before, where you roll a ball around picking up "stuff" for the king of the cosmos. It sounds ridiculous, and it is, but that's what makes it great. You make your ball bigger after picking up stuff and the bigger it gets the bigger objects you can pick up. This way, you can go back and pick up things you couldn't pick up before, and you can end up picking up almost everything in a level! I remember this cow kept knocking me around until I came back a few minutes later twice the size I was before and I picked him and his farmer up!
I also enjoyed the music and aesthetics of the game which are both comical and just plain fun to be around.

    DESIGN:
I think Katamari Damacy is designed very well in all aspects. The graphics are bright and lively, as well the world in which it takes place. This and the hip music help set the mood for a fun and good time people will have when playing the game. The designs and dialogue of people are ridiculous and funny in a good way because they keep the whimsical spirit of the game. And what a whimsical game it is, rolling a ball around picking up stuff.
The game is actually fun to play because you want to see how much stuff you can pick up in a given amount of time, or how long "the king of the cosmos will believe in you." In that time, you start slow picking up little things like thumbtacks and erasers but then build up to bigger things like people, and it's fun and satisfying to make your ball as big as possible, wreaking havoc and collecting everything in sight.
There are a few cutscenes- and none of them are to be taken seriously. In some there is a kid in Japanese animation that hears how the stars in the sky have disappeared, and in others the king of the cosmos is giving you a silly speech and mission. One example of these missions is when you have to remake the constellation cancer, and to do that you have to collect as many crabs as possible and put them in the sky.
There is most always a mission to do because the king of the cosmos destroyed all the stars in the sky and you, his son, are sent to earth to collect stuff and remake them all. I didn't play all the way through Katamari Damacy, but from what I did play, it is a well designed, fun game unlike no other.

    Jan 13th, 2008 at 15:51:49     -    Katamari Damacy (PS2)

    SUMMARY:
Katamari Damacy is a game where you roll a sticky ball around and pick up just about anything to make your ball bigger. The bigger the ball, the better, and the point is to make it as big as possible.

    GAMEPLAY:
I first saw this game on the internet not too long ago and I found it really interesting and put it on my "video games to play" list. Fortunately, it was on this video game classics list and I was able to play it!

I was not disappointed by this game, in fact, it was better than I thought it would be. It's creative design and whimsical humor I found really interesting. Just rolling a ball around wouldn't sound like much fun but it actually is. The player picks up whatever it can find, from thumbtacks to people to bridges, making the ball bigger and better. This game flows nicely because your ball gets continually bigger and there's always a new mission for you to tackle.

There are really only two characters and they are bot pretty funny and ridiculous, especially the king who speaks through the sound of scratchings from a turntable, and keeps shooting out a "rainbow beam" to take his son back into space. I was laughing at times from the dialogue too, which reminds me of something I might write.
