GAMEPLAY
For my second session of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare I decided to check out the Multiplayer section of the game. From the beginning I was pretty impressed. The menus were straight to the point. It was easy to join a game and before I knew it, I was being killed by very experienced players. Before too long I became very obsessed with multiplayer. There are so many different types of game matches to choose from, (As you rank up, more match styles are unlocked). The weapon choices amazed me with how much there was and how you can change your soldiers kit to reflect your style of play. In between matches I was updating my kit and checking to see if I had unlocked that new gun or not. By scoring more and more points you rank up. When ranking up you unlock more weapons and options.
While playing multiplayer I was even more immersed then I was with the singleplayer. People are all talking, the chat is integrated very nicely, and the style of gameplay can be either quick or slow. The most intense match type for me is "Cage Match" This is where it is one on one. I believe that this really shows off what the game can really be like and how realistic it is. It is one on one, large map and you do not know where the enemy is in the beginning. You sneak around the map looking for your enemy. What makes it so intense is that it is really quiet and if you are close, you can hear your enemy move, likewise with him. Only a few well placed shots will kill each person so it is crucial to find and kill him before he finds you. This is the ultimate place to humiliate someone, also to be humiliated.
DESIGN
Call of Duty 4 is an amazing game. The level of detail is phenomenal and the way that everything is so smooth is what makes the environment the best I have ever played on. The gameplay style in itself in this environment makes for some long nights in front of the TV. For multiplayer the reward structure is what holds everyone there. You rank up fast enough and unlock just enough so that you want to get the next unlock, be it a gun, perk, or camouflage. Even after 15 hours online you still have quite a ways to go to unlock everything. The replay value is very high.
There are many FPS's out there though none as quite as good as this one. I feel this is because of the way the game is balanced. Good Graphics, Good gameplay, Good Multiplayer. The developers did not leave anything out. They made sure that every aspect of the game was as perfect as it could be. People who like quick action can join a free for all, people who like teamwork can join a small team based deathmatch or search and destroy.
I think my biggest gripe with the game is that the online chat is abused by some people and makes you must mute the TV. I guess the Developers overestimated the mentality of gamers.
To sum this up. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an amazing game that deserves as much recognition as it can get. If your a FPS fan , Try this game!!

SUMMARY
I am writing this gamelog for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Playstation 3. This is the latest in its series. It is a First Person Shooter, which takes place in present times. This game has both Single player Campaign and Multiplayer gameplay modes. In the Campaign you play as American Sergeant Paul Jackson and British Sergeant "Soap" Mactavish. The story line is very dynamic and in depth.
GAMEPLAY
This game is amazing. It is the traditional FPS in which you see the gun and can aim and fire, while moving around the map. What makes this game amazing is that it immerses you within the world like I have never experienced before. While playing the game you are so focused on what you are doing that outside distraction almost goes away. The single player campaign is very intriguing and interesting. It keeps you wanting to play more and more. Right from the beginning where they drop you on this sinking ship in the middle of the ocean with people to kill the action level is insane. You can switch on the Night Vision goggles and the game view changes along with the way you approach different obstacles. In night vision light is really bright, so you have to stick to the shadows to make it work right.
While playing this game I was constantly amazed at the graphics and level of detail, along with how intense the game is. When you reach a checkpoint or when you die, I would sit back for a second and re-collect myself before diving back in the fighting.
Call of Duty 4 is definitely in my opinion the best FPS for the playstation, and is up there for my favorite of all time.

Jan 25th, 2008 at 03:02:08 - Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) |
After playing Super Mario Brothers 3 for the NES for a longer time, my statement stands, it is a great CLASSIC.
GAMEPLAY
After playing the game for an extended period of time I still find it fun and attractive. The interesting thing about it is that for me it is a love and hate relationship. You play for 30min and then you die and have to redo what you just spent the last 15 min on. You say "screw this!" and walk away, then 5 min later you walk back and say "no, I am going to beat this".
The gameplay flows and the levels are different enough that it is not repetitive. Also you have that amazing soundtrack of funny beeps and noises to motivate you while you play. You find your self adding to this music with your own interesting sounds before too long.
DESIGN
The design of this game was amazing for its time, and to still be playing it so long in the future it must have to be amazing. What I think makes it such a good game is that it is simple to play but amazingly difficult to master. You can always get better at it. There are also different ways of solving each obstacle. You can take your time or try and run right through everything. The tone of the game is uplifting. A perfect example of this is that on one of the world maps the background pixels that form palm trees dance to the music. This game is fun while being attractive because it get hard.
I found myself loosing interest at some times. You get stuck on a level and after trying so many times, you still lose. One negative thought that I have on this game is that you can work so hard on progressing in the game and then hit a hard spot and have to do so much over again. Then to get back to the spot and die again, this is where you lose some of your audience.
After playing this game, I am a little inspired to create my own game. This game has simple graphics and simple movement yet is fun. This shows me that to create a good game you do not need to have amazing graphics.
All in all, Super Mario Brothers 3 is a great game and will definitely be remembered as one of the first CLASSICS.

SUMMARY
I am writing this GameLog for Super Mario Brothers 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Mario Brothers 3 is a platformer game. You move the avatar across a 2D environment from left to right overcoming obstacles as you go. You control Mario as he moves left, right and jumps. When he lands on top of a bad guy the enemy is eliminated. The object of the game is to reach the other side of the level without loosing your limited number of lives.
GAMEPLAY
I was very happy to get Super Mario Brothers 3 working, and I say working because it is very, very old technology. I have to admit that since I have an HDTV I have not seen static and the famous vertical scrolling screen in a long time. When I first got to the menu my find was in a constant flashback. The second the music hits your ears you are absorbed in the days of old where all you did was play this game. I then decide to see why I played this game so much. I start a new game and get to it. I get about 10 steps and one of those little monsters kill me. "Wow! this is alot harder than I remember" After a few more tires the controls come back to me and I am off in this mesmerizing world again.
You play as Mario trying to get to the Princess. The story is simple yet complex. There are not pages of dialog, instead it is pretty much one liners and get playing. The cool thing about this game is that you pick it up and play. It is fun and sucks you into it.
It is a great social interaction with others too because if you suck like me, your lives are not too long and you just trade off the controller, while the others heckle you as you die.
Years after release, Super Mario Brothers 3 is still an amazing game, a true CLASSIC!
