Feb 8th, 2008 at 04:02:14     -    Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (GC)

    Gameplay
I said before that the items are what make this game fun. Well I have also found out that this is also the game's setback. Beacause of the randomness of the items, the possibility of a person coming back at the very end of a race are very high. I lost mulitple races because of that. It really starts to take away from the game, when you now you can relax in third of fourth place because you know the game will bail you out with a couple of items so that you can come in first.
The courses I feel are still really good. And with the ability to drift and get a boost, you can constantly replay a level, knowing that you can probaly get a better time than before. This essentially only applies to the one player time trials, seeing that you get hit alot during races which alter your finish times.
The mulitplayer races continued to be quite exciting. Between the challenges that the course brings, the many items, and the other racer, this game just continues to grab you. I wasn't too fond of the Battle Modes. If felt as if the games speed was reduced to one half, and it got boring really quickly.

    Design
The designs that make this game good are:
1 The ablility to play as one of your favorite characters and use thier specials.
All Mario games exibit this quality. The creativity to design each character with thier own special was brillant. I also felt that no other person's special was way better than anothers, it all depended on our style of play.

2 The design and creativity of the courses. Each was unique.
The colors, the layout, design, and music for each course was excellent. And because of each courses uniquness it made it feel like each course was entirely different. Sometimes I find racing games to get boring beacsoue oall the levels start to feel recycled in a sense that they are all kind of the same.

3 The items and thier affect on the outcomes of the races.
The items are the pro and con of the game. They are esential for the game to be exciting and interesting. But they are a nosense beacause of they can the outcome a race. After getting beat so many times because of items, the game can get boring and very annoying

4 The simplcity of the game, makse it easy for all to grasp and start having fun immediately.
This is probably the biggest reason why the game is as a big a success as it was. The simple controls allows evryone to play and have a good time. This also keeps the game from becoming comlpicatied with different controls and different combinations of buttons. The hardest thing to do n the game was drift and that only consist of using either trigger button and the control stick. Pretty easy even for a beginnner.

Feb 8th, 2008 at 03:31:05     -    Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (GC)

    Summary
Mario Kart is a racing game that uses Nitendo characters as the drivers of a two seated go kart. The gamer must choose two characters , each with there own specials ranging from giant bananas to mega bombs, and they get to choose the kart as well. In the race there are items in which you use against your oppenet to achieve victory.

    Gameplay
The person whom I was playing with and myself, really enjoyed the game. The races were intense, with all the items flying everywhere, it left a sense of uncertainty about what could possibly happen next. I believe that the randomness of the items is what makes the game fun. Being able to surprise someone with a combo of a blue shell, then a red tracking shell, and a mushroom, to pull ahead to first from third, is always exilarating and leaves you at the edge of you seat wnating more.
Besides the items the courses are great as well. The range as far how the course are composed is excellent. Each level had a feel of its own and I never got the feeling that I was racing n the same course.
Also having the ability to be one of your favorite Nitendo stars is pretty cool, and the fact that each has thier own special just adds to the games greatness.

    Jan 25th, 2008 at 03:50:57     -    Super Smash Brothers (N64)

    Gameplay
No matter how old this game gets it just doesnt seem to lose its edge. During my second session I took my gaming to the lounge of my dorm and man did it cause a riot. Everyone wanted in,, and man was it fun. With each match never the same, and with the probability of anything happening, Smash Brothers just continues to excite people, of all diferent skill levels. Even those who had never played enjoyed themselves. The excitement and captivity of the game seems to capture anyone who plays.
After playing this game over and over again I still haven't seemed to find any flaws with it. The only thing that i wo;uld have to be disappointed with is the single player mode. It is a tad short and really doesnt have nothing much to offer in my opinion. That is why i perfer to play with multiplayers, it gives the game alot more excitement, and seemes to just seemes to make the game come alive. Nintendo made an instant classic with this one.

    Design
The designing of the game is remarkable. The controls are simple but had to master. And the best part of the game is that you can continue to improve your skills. If not for that this game would not be that big of a success. The various battle stages were also impressive, providing you with a variety of stages with different themes in each one, with the music to match it. Unlike its successor, Super Samsh Bros Melee, the N64 version has simplier items, which to me made them better, and easier for begginners to understand. The idea to let all of the Nitendo stars of the past duke it out was a fantastic concept, and is it is shown in this game.
