Summery
The newest in the Paper Mario series has followed in the footsteps of every good Mario game in that it has pioneered a new way of gaming. The original Paper Mario game brought a new meaning to 2-D gaming; it gave the game a specific reason to be 2-D. Super Paper Mario melds the 2-D aspect of being a simple sheet of paper, and the 3-D aspect of Super Mario 64/Sunshine. The basic story is everything that's its always been with a few extra players, and frankly seeing the same hackneyed Princess-getting-captured-while-Mario-does-nothing routine does get old. A new character comes from an alternate universe and warps all of the paper world's existence, which explains venturing into the 3-D realm. The player is allowed to switch from 2-D to 3-D at will, although only for a short amount of time, due to a "Pixl" (the equivalent of a fairy) who helps Mario on his journey. This amounts for a many times more challenging, fun, and time consuming game(just like Paper Mario has always been). The RPG aspect however has been almost completely removed, so although it doesn't feel quite like Paper Mario, it still has appeal, if only because it causes one to reminisce about the original Super Mario Bros.
