• Purchased Bioshock for the Xbox 360 on Friday the 16th of January
• Played on Friday the 16th of January for approx 4 hours
Bioshock is a first person shooter in which you explore the city of rapture. For the first part of the game you watch a cut scene and get introduced to the world of rapture. The introduction to the game just gives you a feel for the story and makes you even more eager to play. The graphics are outstanding, the water effects, character design and the walls and floors all polished and shining. All this just makes the world of rapture seem even more real.
You get the usual weapons like a shotgun, pistol, and some sort of SMG. In this game you also get to use special powers. One of them lets you shock your enemy which stuns them for a few seconds while you finish them off with a weapon of your choice. This is what makes Bioshock so different from other first person shooters out there.
The game is a first person shooter but also has a free roam and a role playing game style to it. You have the world of rapture to explore, you can upgrade your character by increasing your heath bar, getting weapon upgrades and by unlocking more powers. This makes the game enjoyable for whatever game type you like to play.
The sound and visuals make the game very scary at places, the way they make you hear someone talking and even though you can’t see them you know where they are. Even little things like the sound effects of walking through water, reloading your gun and using the vending machines makes the game so much better to play.
Overall the game feels very well put together, smooth game play, great graphics and an interesting story. I can’t wait to play Bioshock again and I will give my review of the game once I have completed it.
