Meh... I've decided to close this log down. I'm not really sure I'll be playing this some more for anything that isn't "show-off". I might as well make time for more games, right?

I fired this one up last night to give it a little run through. Lo and behold, I finished it! Wow. That was a short game. Am I disappointed? No, not really. The experience was fun, it is really cool looking and not too hard. It almost had me witha tough boss, but I always felt the game was somewhat within reach. Is it that I'm getting too good at these things? I doubt it.
Given that the game was so short, and that I didn't score to good overall (I think I got D's for time and style, though I got an A on beat and killing bad guys). I think the game has a bunch of extras to unlock so I'll take a look at Gamefaqs to see if it is worth playing a bit more to see them.
The last level was weird! The boss was like some huge head with 6 eyes and stuff. Very, hmmm, bizarre.. I'll be keeping this log open for a while, until I decide whether or not to keep on playing. Also, I'll take this game into the GameLab just to show off...hehehe.

For a while there I was worried that this game might be too easy. I easily cleared the first two levels by button mashing. By now, having just cleated Stage 5, I can say that button mashing is good, though there is a little bit of more depth than that. Ok, it isn't that deep as far as gameplay, but as an experience? I'm starting to really get into this game. It just looks soooo cool. The sound is excellent, the visuals are top-notch. And the style? Wow. If you are into a lot of anime you will appreciate this game. It reminds me a lot of Trigun (without the humor) and Hellsing. The huge guns, the thunk-thunk of the shooting, it's all there.

I can't beleive I bought this game almost a year ago. I actually started this gamelog a long time ago and only yesterday did I unwrap the game and pop it inot my PS2. (I felt I could start a new game since I finished Maximo...)
Gungrave didn't have awesome reviews and I can see why. It is a weird feeling 'cause the game looks fabulous. The character has loads of style in a huge guns/anime way. (I'm reminded of Hellsing and Trigun) However, the gameplay is really bland. You basically shoot stuff. All the time. I breezed through 2 levels without breaking a sweat by walking and shooting. Walking and shooting. Rinse, wash, repeat.
