I will admit that this game does take some time getting used to, and that eventually you start seeing how massive of a project this really is. The graphics that are maintained are quite exceptional, and not's until you are about 3-6 hours into the game that it really starts growing on you. What is really refreshing and quite possible revolutionary is that the fighting is alittle different. Instead of stopping the action, and going to a seperate window to fight, the enemies are on the screen and automatically just start fighting you. there is a targeting system defined by a colored line that shoots toward you if you are going to be attacked. There is also the revolutionary system of gambits. You can automate your party's attacks if there is a certain enemy, or even decide what magic to cast. This feature I think is one of the best, and will be copied by every RPG, because it offers a wide array of combinations that you can do.

So I was defintely excited whwn I borrowed this game from the library. I have been a longtime fan of the series, especially VII. The opening sequence has the feel of Naboo from Star Wars I, mixed with the artmwork of Final Fantasy X. There are no complaints in terms of graphics, Square Enix has outdone themselves once again. I played on a 13 inch TV, and it looked like I was playing on a plasma screen. The plot itself is very Star Wars-like, you are an ordinary orphan who eventually gets caught up in a fight against an empire threatening to take over the world. If you really want to talk about unoriginality, the dialogue is a little too much. Everyone has this ridiculous proper English accent that seems to borrow off Lord of The Rings, without the good acting. What has made the past games real is that everyone has a normal accent, and so you identify with the characters. The guy that really grinds my gears is the narrator, who has an accent that is a mixture of Apu and Scottish. I'm not racist, but you'll see what I mean, that shit's annoying. ANd another thing, Final Fantasy has always had their characters about my age or older. This time, the characters are pre-pubescent, and they're voices are deeper than mine! It takes about 2 hours to finally get used to how awkward this is.
