I've decided to move on to another game. I really don't feel like perfecting my BMX trick techniques though I have to admit that there is quite a bit of choices under the hood. For example, I learned how to perform a "fakie" yesterday. (this is when you do a trick, but land facing the other direction) This little detail effectively doubled the number of tricks I could perform!
I played a bit more of the championship mode (earned another gold medal) but I definitely do not want to play it with all the different bikers...that would be too much.
So, ta-da Matt Hoffman...I respect your game though I don't care much for its gameplay.

I finished playing all that I wanted to play this game. I did get a lot better at it the more I played and I can now understand why some people like these sorts of games so much.
For me, the idea of repeating something over and over in order to achieve perfection is not what I'm most interested in. (especially when there is a whole stack of other games I want to play).

Aha! I was able to nail my first gold medal on an event. I also read a review on this game that said something like "You should be able to clear the game in a few hours". Gee. Thanks for making me feel like a total loser.
I really am proud about that little gold medal though. I mean, I've been learning slowly but surely how to play this game. That is good. This game is not bad.

I've started to warm up to this game. Not too much, don't get excited or anything, but enough to keep me interested for at least the next couple of days. The music is still awful but I've made some progress and learned a few "tricks". Positive feedback (as in finishing levels) does wonders, right?

I play this and play this and I'm just not very excited. I can't really blame the game since I get the feeling that there is some depth to the astounding variety of combos. However, I simply don't feel the will to try and figure them out (as well as when it is best to use them).
Another thing that is starting to grate on my nerves is the menu music. Do they test these things with people? I'm sure they do...but how could they put up with it! HOW?!?

This game is pretty nice! I'm trying to be EXTRA patient because there are some "actions" that I have a hard time getting to work. Namely, going over the top of a half-pipe. You're supposed to do arrow+B, but that doesn't work a whole lot for me. I don't think I have the timing right, or maybe I'm going to fast when I try to do it? I'm slowly experimenting with this game, to see how it works and what is fun about it.
My current impression is that it has quite some breadth, but not too much depth. For example, you can pick from a whole bunch of different bikers, but I'm not sure how different they all are from one another. There is a time trial mode as well, but there are only four tracks. The cool thing about the time trial is that you start with hardly any time and have to do tricks to get more time! No tricks and you can't even finish the trial.

I'm actually still feeling a little guilty about quitting on Super Mario...but what the heck. I think it might be in part because I paid full price for that game ($40 or something like that) while I only paid like $5 for this one! Its hard to beat that kind of deal when it comes to "gameplay for your money".
I've never played any of the extreme sports + tricks games (like, say Tony Hawk) so I'm rather curious as to how this one will turn out. In particular, if I'll be able to handle it. I'm really poor at handling multiple button combos so I hope this game doesn't get too complicated. In fact, now that I think about it, that is probably why I'm no good at fighting games!
