After my first crack at Final Fantasy VII, I took my now level 16 character through the town of Midgar to gain a few levels and hopefully find more materia. One of the best aspects of this game is being able to coordinate your allies attacks with your own into a defined strategy to defeat whatever enemy comes along your way. Sometimes you will need to heal or cure your ally from a specific ailment or else your chances of survival become dim. Other enemies may be healed by fire attacks while ice does double damage. In this kind of scenario your strategy must change or else summoning strong allies (with summon materia) may end up healing the enemy a considerable amount of hitpoints. I had fun using and leveling my lightning materia because I just got bolt 2 which is a second level offensive lightning ability. At this current level the bolt 2 is devastating to the majority of enemies I need to fight such as the mechanical enemies in Midgar.

This week I had the opportunity to go back in time and play one of my favorite games of all time, Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most revolutionary games to change the face of RPG, battle systems, and storybook elements many RPGs continue to take advantage of. I played through this game throughly in my teen years so it was a pleasant experience joining again and starting my quest to defeat Sephiroth. Overall, this game was one of the greatest influences in my desire to play RPG games with battle elements such as the turn based combat with magic/attacks. As many who have played it know, the game is based on a materia system in which by equiping different magical items you will be able to use different magical abilities. The best part of this game is being able to feel your character growing in strength as you defeat harder and harder enemies. This is shown as you gain more HP/MP per level as well as gaining stronger materia that gains experience called AP. Overall I would score this game as a 9.5, if anyone has not experienced this I highly suggest you give it a try because it can change your perception on what an RPG can be like.
