So after a while of not playing Super Smash Bros, I was questionable about my so called skills in them. Before, I would beat almost everyone that came at me with my trusty Pikachu to do all the work. However, since a lot of people are good in this game, I really don't know if I'm good at all. So I started playing with a group of people in a vs match with eight stock lives. I didn't choose Pikachu because I wanted to get used to the game first. I chose Samus which is one of my better characters and I won, but barely. Something that I noticed was that it's true that it does take skill to be good at this game, but it's really just a whole bunch of nonsense going on at a time.
A beginner could pick it up and press random buttons and win just like any other fighting game, but there are skills that need to be learned such as recovering from a fall, blocking and rolling. I don't really like to roll as much because it never occurred to me that I had to, but I see other people doing it and it seems to help. Nevertheless, I still can hold my own. Many people don't like to use items, but that is my strong point. I am an Item User and proud of it. People see it as cheating, but I see it as more strategy. For instance, a beam sword is usually swung around to do damage, but if the player throws it at someone, it can do a lot of damage which is the same with the fire flower. Anyways, more on that later.
