Hmmm..
I really liked the dreamcast version of this game because it was so fast and exciting. Sort of like when you play Tetris on later levels but with more bright colors and arenalin. Unfortunately that experience is incredibly more subdued on the DS. I don't know if that has to do with smaller screen or the fact that I don't play with sound. Probably both.
Anyways, when I first started playing I made a point of using the touchscreen. Not so good. The character (Mr. Driller? I can't remember if he has another name...) is too small to adequately control. Don't forget that this is a game in which a certain amount of precision is required, especially if you want to go for some of the more daring manouvers (like drill something and then quickly dart out of the way). So, I migrated over to using the keys and the game went much better.
Now here's the real killer...as you make progress in the game you have to drill deeper and deeper. This takes time. You can't save you can't "sleep". (you can pause). And the deeper levels require more thought and careful planning...so, I reached a point where I could no longer play the levels in the time it takes me to commute. Whoops.
